لَا تَحۡسَبَنَّ الَّذِيۡنَ يَفۡرَحُوۡنَ بِمَاۤ اَتَوْا وَّيُحِبُّوۡنَ اَنۡ يُّحۡمَدُوۡا بِمَا لَمۡ يَفۡعَلُوۡا فَلَا تَحۡسَبَنَّهُمۡ بِمَفَازَةٍ مِّنَ الۡعَذَابِۚ وَلَهُمۡ عَذَابٌ اَ لِيۡمٌ(آل عمران :188)
La tahsabanna allatheena yafrahoona bima ataw wayuhibboona an yuhmadoo bima lam yaf'aloo fala tahsabannahum bimafazatin mina al'athabi walahum 'athabun aleemun
Sahih International:
And never think that those who rejoice in what they have perpetrated and like to be praised for what they did not do - never think them [to be] in safety from the punishment, and for them is a painful punishment.
فَلَمَّا نَسُوۡا مَا ذُكِّرُوۡا بِهٖ فَتَحۡنَا عَلَيۡهِمۡ اَبۡوَابَ كُلِّ شَىۡءٍ ؕ حَتّٰٓى اِذَا فَرِحُوۡا بِمَاۤ اُوۡتُوۡۤا اَخَذۡنٰهُمۡ بَغۡتَةً فَاِذَا هُمۡ مُّبۡلِسُوۡنَ(الأنعام :44)
Falamma nasoo ma thukkiroo bihi fatahna 'alayhim abwaba kulli shayin hatta itha farihoo bima ootoo akhathnahum baghtatan faitha hum mublisoona
Sahih International:
So when they forgot that by which they had been reminded, We opened to them the doors of every [good] thing until, when they rejoiced in that which they were given, We seized them suddenly, and they were [then] in despair.
وَجَآءَ اَهۡلُ الۡمَدِيۡنَةِ يَسۡتَـبۡشِرُوۡنَ(الحجر :67)
Wajaa ahlu almadeenati yastabshiroona
Sahih International:
And the people of the city came rejoicing.
فَتَقَطَّعُوۡۤا اَمۡرَهُمۡ بَيۡنَهُمۡ زُبُرًا ؕ كُلُّ حِزۡبٍۢ بِمَا لَدَيۡهِمۡ فَرِحُوۡنَ(المؤمنون :53)
Fataqatta'oo amrahum baynahum zuburan kullu hizbin bima ladayhim farihoona
Sahih International:
But the people divided their religion among them into sects - each faction, in what it has, rejoicing.
مِنَ الَّذِيۡنَ فَرَّقُوۡا دِيۡنَهُمۡ وَكَانُوۡا شِيَعًا ؕ كُلُّ حِزۡبٍۢ بِمَا لَدَيۡهِمۡ فَرِحُوۡنَ(الروم :32)
Mina allatheena farraqoo deenahum wakanoo shiya'an kullu hizbin bima ladayhim farihoona
Sahih International:
[Or] of those who have divided their religion and become sects, every faction rejoicing in what it has.
ذٰ لِكُمۡ بِمَا كُنۡتُمۡ تَفۡرَحُوۡنَ فِى الۡاَرۡضِ بِغَيۡرِ الۡحَقِّ وَبِمَا كُنۡـتُمۡ تَمۡرَحُوۡنَ(غافر :75)
Thalikum bima kuntum tafrahoona fee alardi bighayri alhaqqi wabima kuntum tamrahoona
Sahih International:
[The angels will say], "That was because you used to exult upon the earth without right and you used to behave insolently.
فَلَمَّا جَآءَتۡهُمۡ رُسُلُهُمۡ بِالۡبَيِّنٰتِ فَرِحُوۡا بِمَا عِنۡدَهُمۡ مِّنَ الۡعِلۡمِ وَحَاقَ بِهِمۡ مَّا كَانُوۡا بِهٖ يَسۡتَهۡزِءُوۡنَ(غافر :83)
Falamma jaathum rusuluhum bialbayyinati farihoo bima 'indahum mina al'ilmi wahaqa bihim ma kanoo bihi yastahzioona
Sahih International:
And when their messengers came to them with clear proofs, they [merely] rejoiced in what they had of knowledge, but they were enveloped by what they used to ridicule.
فَاِنۡ اَعۡرَضُوۡا فَمَاۤ اَرۡسَلۡنٰكَ عَلَيۡهِمۡ حَفِيۡظًاؕ اِنۡ عَلَيۡكَ اِلَّا الۡبَلٰغُ ؕ وَاِنَّاۤ اِذَاۤ اَذَقۡنَا الۡاِنۡسَانَ مِنَّا رَحۡمَةً فَرِحَ بِهَاۚ وَاِنۡ تُصِبۡهُمۡ سَيِّئَةٌۢ بِمَا قَدَّمَتۡ اَيۡدِيۡهِمۡ فَاِنَّ الۡاِنۡسَانَ كَفُوۡرٌ(الشورى :48)
Fain a'radoo fama arsalnaka 'alayhim hafeethan in 'alayka illa albalaghu wainna itha athaqna alinsana minna rahmatan fariha biha wain tusibhum sayyiatun bima qaddamat aydeehim fainna alinsana kafoorun
Sahih International:
But if they turn away - then We have not sent you, [O Muhammad], over them as a guardian; upon you is only [the duty of] notification. And indeed, when We let man taste mercy from us, he rejoices in it; but if evil afflicts him for what his hands have put forth, then indeed, man is ungrateful.
لِّـكَيۡلَا تَاۡسَوۡا عَلٰى مَا فَاتَكُمۡ وَلَا تَفۡرَحُوۡا بِمَاۤ اٰتٰٮكُمۡؕ وَاللّٰهُ لَا يُحِبُّ كُلَّ مُخۡتَالٍ فَخُوۡرِۙ(الحديد :23)
Likayla tasaw 'ala ma fatakum wala tafrahoo bima atakum waAllahu la yuhibbu kulla mukhtalin fakhoorin
Sahih International:
In order that you not despair over what has eluded you and not exult [in pride] over what He has given you. And Allah does not like everyone self-deluded and boastful -
