سَنَفْرُغُ لَكُمْ اَيُّهَ الثَّقَلٰنِۚ   ( الرحمن: ٣١ )

sanafrughu
سَنَفْرُغُ
Soon We will attend
lakum
لَكُمْ
to you
ayyuha
أَيُّهَ
O you
l-thaqalāni
ٱلثَّقَلَانِ
two classes!

We will attend to you, O prominent beings.

Tafsir

فَبِاَيِّ اٰلَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبٰنِ   ( الرحمن: ٣٢ )

fabi-ayyi
فَبِأَىِّ
So which
ālāi
ءَالَآءِ
(of the) favors
rabbikumā
رَبِّكُمَا
(of) your Lord
tukadhibāni
تُكَذِّبَانِ
will you both deny?

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?

Tafsir

يٰمَعْشَرَ الْجِنِّ وَالْاِنْسِ اِنِ اسْتَطَعْتُمْ اَنْ تَنْفُذُوْا مِنْ اَقْطَارِ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالْاَرْضِ فَانْفُذُوْاۗ لَا تَنْفُذُوْنَ اِلَّا بِسُلْطٰنٍۚ   ( الرحمن: ٣٣ )

يَٰمَعْشَرَ
O assembly
l-jini
ٱلْجِنِّ
(of) the jinn
wal-insi
وَٱلْإِنسِ
and the men!
ini
إِنِ
If
is'taṭaʿtum
ٱسْتَطَعْتُمْ
you are able
an
أَن
to
tanfudhū
تَنفُذُوا۟
pass beyond
min
مِنْ
[of]
aqṭāri
أَقْطَارِ
(the) regions
l-samāwāti
ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ
(of) the heavens
wal-arḍi
وَٱلْأَرْضِ
and the earth
fa-unfudhū
فَٱنفُذُوا۟ۚ
then pass
لَا
Not
tanfudhūna
تَنفُذُونَ
you (can) pass
illā
إِلَّا
except
bisul'ṭānin
بِسُلْطَٰنٍ
by authority

O company of jinn and mankind, if you are able to pass beyond the regions of the heavens and the earth, then pass. You will not pass except by authority [from Allah].

Tafsir

فَبِاَيِّ اٰلَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبٰنِ   ( الرحمن: ٣٤ )

فَبِأَىِّ
So which
ālāi
ءَالَآءِ
(of the) favors
rabbikumā
رَبِّكُمَا
(of) your Lord
tukadhibāni
تُكَذِّبَانِ
will you both deny?

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?

Tafsir

يُرْسَلُ عَلَيْكُمَا شُوَاظٌ مِّنْ نَّارٍۙ وَّنُحَاسٌ فَلَا تَنْتَصِرَانِۚ   ( الرحمن: ٣٥ )

yur'salu
يُرْسَلُ
Will be sent
ʿalaykumā
عَلَيْكُمَا
against both of you
shuwāẓun
شُوَاظٌ
a flame
min
مِّن
of
nārin
نَّارٍ
fire
wanuḥāsun
وَنُحَاسٌ
and smoke
falā
فَلَا
and not
tantaṣirāni
تَنتَصِرَانِ
you will (be able to) defend yourselves

There will be sent upon you a flame of fire and smoke, and you will not defend yourselves.

Tafsir

فَبِاَيِّ اٰلَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبٰنِ   ( الرحمن: ٣٦ )

fabi-ayyi
فَبِأَىِّ
So which
ālāi
ءَالَآءِ
(of the) favors
rabbikumā
رَبِّكُمَا
(of) your Lord
tukadhibāni
تُكَذِّبَانِ
will you both deny?

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?

Tafsir

فَاِذَا انْشَقَّتِ السَّمَاۤءُ فَكَانَتْ وَرْدَةً كَالدِّهَانِۚ   ( الرحمن: ٣٧ )

fa-idhā
فَإِذَا
Then when
inshaqqati
ٱنشَقَّتِ
is split
l-samāu
ٱلسَّمَآءُ
the heaven
fakānat
فَكَانَتْ
and it becomes
wardatan
وَرْدَةً
rose-colored
kal-dihāni
كَٱلدِّهَانِ
like murky oil

And when the heaven is split open and becomes rose-colored like oil –

Tafsir

فَبِاَيِّ اٰلَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبٰنِ   ( الرحمن: ٣٨ )

fabi-ayyi
فَبِأَىِّ
So which
ālāi
ءَالَآءِ
(of the) favors
rabbikumā
رَبِّكُمَا
(of) your Lord
tukadhibāni
تُكَذِّبَانِ
will you both deny?

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? –

Tafsir

فَيَوْمَئِذٍ لَّا يُسْـَٔلُ عَنْ ذَنْۢبِهٖٓ اِنْسٌ وَّلَا جَاۤنٌّۚ   ( الرحمن: ٣٩ )

fayawma-idhin
فَيَوْمَئِذٍ
Then on that Day
لَّا
not
yus'alu
يُسْـَٔلُ
will be asked
ʿan
عَن
about
dhanbihi
ذَنۢبِهِۦٓ
his sin
insun
إِنسٌ
any man
walā
وَلَا
and not
jānnun
جَآنٌّ
any jinn

Then on that Day none will be asked about his sin among men or jinn.

Tafsir

فَبِاَيِّ اٰلَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبٰنِ   ( الرحمن: ٤٠ )

fabi-ayyi
فَبِأَىِّ
So which
ālāi
ءَالَآءِ
(of the) favors
rabbikumā
رَبِّكُمَا
(of) your Lord
tukadhibāni
تُكَذِّبَانِ
will you both deny?

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?

Tafsir
