وَلَقَدۡ اٰتَيۡنَا لُقۡمٰنَ الۡحِكۡمَةَ اَنِ اشۡكُرۡ لِلّٰهِؕ وَمَنۡ يَّشۡكُرۡ فَاِنَّمَا يَشۡكُرُ لِنَفۡسِهٖۚ وَمَنۡ كَفَرَ فَاِنَّ اللّٰهَ غَنِىٌّ حَمِيۡدٌ(لقمان :١٢)
Walaqad atayna luqmana alhikmata ani oshkur lillahi waman yashkur fainnama yashkuru linafsihi waman kafara fainna Allaha ghaniyyun hameedun
Sahih International:
And We had certainly given Luqman wisdom [and said], "Be grateful to Allah ." And whoever is grateful is grateful for [the benefit of] himself. And whoever denies [His favor] - then indeed, Allah is Free of need and Praiseworthy.
وَاِذۡ قَالَ لُقۡمٰنُ لِا بۡنِهٖ وَهُوَ يَعِظُهٗ يٰبُنَىَّ لَا تُشۡرِكۡ بِاللّٰهِ ؕاِنَّ الشِّرۡكَ لَـظُلۡمٌ عَظِيۡمٌ(لقمان :١٣)
Waith qala luqmanu liibnihi wahuwa ya'ithuhu ya bunayya la tushrik biAllahi inna alshshirka lathulmun 'atheemun
Sahih International:
And [mention, O Muhammad], when Luqman said to his son while he was instructing him, "O my son, do not associate [anything] with Allah . Indeed, association [with him] is great injustice."
وَوَصَّيۡنَا الۡاِنۡسٰنَ بِوَالِدَيۡهِۚ حَمَلَتۡهُ اُمُّهٗ وَهۡنًا عَلٰى وَهۡنٍ وَّفِصٰلُهٗ فِىۡ عَامَيۡنِ اَنِ اشۡكُرۡ لِىۡ وَلِـوَالِدَيۡكَؕ اِلَىَّ الۡمَصِيۡرُ(لقمان :١٤)
Wawassayna alinsana biwalidayhi hamalathu ommuhu wahnan 'ala wahnin wafisaluhu fee 'amayni ani oshkur lee waliwalidayka ilayya almaseeru
Sahih International:
And We have enjoined upon man [care] for his parents. His mother carried him, [increasing her] in weakness upon weakness, and his weaning is in two years. Be grateful to Me and to your parents; to Me is the [final] destination.
وَاِنۡ جَاهَدٰكَ عَلٰٓى اَنۡ تُشۡرِكَ بِىۡ مَا لَيۡسَ لَكَ بِهٖ عِلۡمٌ ۙ فَلَا تُطِعۡهُمَا وَصَاحِبۡهُمَا فِى الدُّنۡيَا مَعۡرُوۡفًاۖ وَّاتَّبِعۡ سَبِيۡلَ مَنۡ اَنَابَ اِلَىَّ ۚ ثُمَّ اِلَىَّ مَرۡجِعُكُمۡ فَاُنَبِّئُكُمۡ بِمَا كُنۡتُمۡ تَعۡمَلُوۡنَ(لقمان :١٥)
Wain jahadaka 'ala an tushrika bee ma laysa laka bihi 'ilmun fala tuti'huma wasahibhuma fee alddunya ma'roofan waittabi' sabeela man anaba ilayya thumma ilayya marji'ukum faonabbiokum bima kuntum ta'maloona
Sahih International:
But if they endeavor to make you associate with Me that of which you have no knowledge, do not obey them but accompany them in [this] world with appropriate kindness and follow the way of those who turn back to Me [in repentance]. Then to Me will be your return, and I will inform you about what you used to do.
يٰبُنَىَّ اِنَّهَاۤ اِنۡ تَكُ مِثۡقَالَ حَبَّةٍ مِّنۡ خَرۡدَلٍ فَتَكُنۡ فِىۡ صَخۡرَةٍ اَوۡ فِى السَّمٰوٰتِ اَوۡ فِى الۡاَرۡضِ يَاۡتِ بِهَا اللّٰهُ ؕ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ لَطِيۡفٌ خَبِيۡرٌ(لقمان :١٦)
Ya bunayya innaha in taku mithqala habbatin min khardalin fatakun fee sakhratin aw fee alssamawati aw fee alardi yati biha Allahu inna Allaha lateefun khabeerun
Sahih International:
[And Luqman said], "O my son, indeed if wrong should be the weight of a mustard seed and should be within a rock or [anywhere] in the heavens or in the earth, Allah will bring it forth. Indeed, Allah is Subtle and Acquainted.
يٰبُنَىَّ اَقِمِ الصَّلٰوةَ وَاۡمُرۡ بِالۡمَعۡرُوۡفِ وَانۡهَ عَنِ الۡمُنۡكَرِ وَاصۡبِرۡ عَلٰى مَاۤ اَصَابَكَؕ اِنَّ ذٰلِكَ مِنۡ عَزۡمِ الۡاُمُوۡرِۚ(لقمان :١٧)
Ya bunayya aqimi alssalata wamur bialma'roofi wainha 'ani almunkari waisbir 'ala ma asabaka inna thalika min 'azmi alomoori
Sahih International:
O my son, establish prayer, enjoin what is right, forbid what is wrong, and be patient over what befalls you. Indeed, [all] that is of the matters [requiring] determination.
وَلَا تُصَعِّرۡ خَدَّكَ لِلنَّاسِ وَلَا تَمۡشِ فِى الۡاَرۡضِ مَرَحًا ؕ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ لَا يُحِبُّ كُلَّ مُخۡتَالٍ فَخُوۡرٍۚ(لقمان :١٨)
Wala tusa''ir khaddaka lilnnasi wala tamshi fee alardi marahan inna Allaha la yuhibbu kulla mukhtalin fakhoorin
Sahih International:
And do not turn your cheek [in contempt] toward people and do not walk through the earth exultantly. Indeed, Allah does not like everyone self-deluded and boastful.
وَاقۡصِدۡ فِىۡ مَشۡيِكَ وَاغۡضُضۡ مِنۡ صَوۡتِكَؕ اِنَّ اَنۡكَرَ الۡاَصۡوَاتِ لَصَوۡتُ الۡحَمِيۡرِ(لقمان :١٩)
Waiqsid fee mashyika waoghdud min sawtika inna ankara alaswati lasawtu alhameeri
Sahih International:
And be moderate in your pace and lower your voice; indeed, the most disagreeable of sounds is the voice of donkeys."
