Surah [14] Ibrahim : 10

قَالَتۡ رُسُلُهُمۡ اَفِى اللّٰهِ شَكٌّ فَاطِرِ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالۡاَرۡضِ‌ؕ يَدۡعُوۡكُمۡ لِيَـغۡفِرَ لَـكُمۡ مِّنۡ ذُنُوۡبِكُمۡ وَيُؤَخِّرَكُمۡ اِلٰٓى اَجَلٍ مُّسَمًّى‌ؕ قَالُوۡۤا اِنۡ اَنۡتُمۡ اِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِّثۡلُنَاؕ تُرِيۡدُوۡنَ اَنۡ تَصُدُّوۡنَا عَمَّا كَانَ يَعۡبُدُ اٰبَآؤُنَا فَاۡتُوۡنَا بِسُلۡطٰنٍ مُّبِيۡنٍ(ابراهيم :10)

قَالَتْ
Said
رُسُلُهُمْ
their Messengers
أَفِى
"Can (there) be about
ٱللَّهِ
Allah
شَكٌّ
any doubt
فَاطِرِ
(the) Creator
ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ
(of) the heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضِۖ
and the earth?
يَدْعُوكُمْ
He invites you
لِيَغْفِرَ
so that He may forgive
لَكُم
for you
مِّن
[of]
ذُنُوبِكُمْ
your sins
وَيُؤَخِّرَكُمْ
and give you respite
إِلَىٰٓ
for
أَجَلٍ
a term
مُّسَمًّىۚ
appointed"
قَالُوٓا۟
They said
إِنْ
"Not
أَنتُمْ
you
إِلَّا
(are) but
بَشَرٌ
a human
مِّثْلُنَا
like us
تُرِيدُونَ
you wish
أَن
to
تَصُدُّونَا
hinder us
عَمَّا
from what
كَانَ
used to
يَعْبُدُ
worship
ءَابَآؤُنَا
our forefathers
فَأْتُونَا
So bring us
بِسُلْطَٰنٍ
an authority
مُّبِينٍ
clear"

Qalat rusuluhum afee Allahi shakkun fatiri alssamawati waalardi yad'ookum liyaghfira lakum min thunoobikum wayuakhkhirakum ila ajalin musamman qaloo in antum illa basharun mithluna tureedoona an tasuddoona 'amma kana ya'budu abaona fatoona bisultanin mubeenin

Sahih International:

Their messengers said, "Can there be doubt about Allah, Creator of the heavens and earth? He invites you that He may forgive you of your sins, and He delays your death for a specified term." They said, "You are not but men like us who wish to avert us from what our fathers were worshipping. So bring us a clear authority."

Surah [14] Ibrahim : 11

قَالَتۡ لَهُمۡ رُسُلُهُمۡ اِنۡ نَّحۡنُ اِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِّثۡلُكُمۡ وَلٰـكِنَّ اللّٰهَ يَمُنُّ عَلٰى مَنۡ يَّشَآءُ مِنۡ عِبَادِهٖ‌ؕ وَمَا كَانَ لَنَاۤ اَنۡ نَّاۡتِيَكُمۡ بِسُلۡطٰنٍ اِلَّا بِاِذۡنِ اللّٰهِ‌ؕ وَعَلَى اللّٰهِ فَلۡيَتَوَكَّلِ الۡمُؤۡمِنُوۡنَ(ابراهيم :11)

قَالَتْ
Said
لَهُمْ
to them
رُسُلُهُمْ
their Messengers
إِن
"Not
نَّحْنُ
we (are)
إِلَّا
but
بَشَرٌ
a human
مِّثْلُكُمْ
like you
وَلَٰكِنَّ
but
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
يَمُنُّ
bestows His Grace
عَلَىٰ
on
مَن
whom
يَشَآءُ
He wills
مِنْ
of
عِبَادِهِۦۖ
His slaves
وَمَا
And not
كَانَ
is
لَنَآ
for us
أَن
that
نَّأْتِيَكُم
we bring you
بِسُلْطَٰنٍ
an authority
إِلَّا
except
بِإِذْنِ
by the permission of Allah
ٱللَّهِۚ
by the permission of Allah
وَعَلَى
And upon
ٱللَّهِ
Allah
فَلْيَتَوَكَّلِ
so let put (their) trust
ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ
the believers

Qalat lahum rusuluhum in nahnu illa basharun mithlukum walakinna Allaha yamunnu 'ala man yashao min 'ibadihi wama kana lana an natiyakum bisultanin illa biithni Allahi wa'ala Allahi falyatawakkali almuminoona

Sahih International:

Their messengers said to them, "We are only men like you, but Allah confers favor upon whom He wills of His servants. It has never been for us to bring you evidence except by permission of Allah . And upon Allah let the believers rely.

Tafsir (More Translations)
Surah [14] Ibrahim : 12

وَمَا لَـنَاۤ اَلَّا نَـتَوَكَّلَ عَلَى اللّٰهِ وَقَدۡ هَدٰٮنَا سُبُلَنَا‌ؕ وَلَــنَصۡبِرَنَّ عَلٰى مَاۤ اٰذَيۡتُمُوۡنَا‌ؕ وَعَلَى اللّٰهِ فَلۡيَتَوَكَّلِ الۡمُتَوَكِّلُوۡنَ(ابراهيم :12)

وَمَا
And what
لَنَآ
(is) for us
أَلَّا
that not
نَتَوَكَّلَ
we put our trust
عَلَى
upon
ٱللَّهِ
Allah
وَقَدْ
while certainly
هَدَىٰنَا
He has guided us
سُبُلَنَاۚ
to our ways?
وَلَنَصْبِرَنَّ
And surely we will bear with patience
عَلَىٰ
on
مَآ
what
ءَاذَيْتُمُونَاۚ
harm you may cause us
وَعَلَى
And upon
ٱللَّهِ
Allah
فَلْيَتَوَكَّلِ
so let put (their) trust
ٱلْمُتَوَكِّلُونَ
the ones who put (their) trust"

Wama lana alla natawakkala 'ala Allahi waqad hadana subulana walanasbiranna 'ala ma athaytumoona wa'ala Allahi falyatawakkali almutawakkiloona

Sahih International:

And why should we not rely upon Allah while He has guided us to our [good] ways. And we will surely be patient against whatever harm you should cause us. And upon Allah let those who would rely [indeed] rely."

Tafsir (More Translations)
Surah [17] Al-Isra' : 94

وَمَا مَنَعَ النَّاسَ اَنۡ يُّؤۡمِنُوۡۤا اِذۡ جَآءَهُمُ الۡهُدٰٓى اِلَّاۤ اَنۡ قَالُـوۡۤا اَبَعَثَ اللّٰهُ بَشَرًا رَّسُوۡلًا‏(الإسراء :94)

وَمَا
And what
مَنَعَ
prevented
ٱلنَّاسَ
the people
أَن
that
يُؤْمِنُوٓا۟
they believe
إِذْ
when
جَآءَهُمُ
came to them
ٱلْهُدَىٰٓ
the guidance
إِلَّآ
except
أَن
that
قَالُوٓا۟
they said
أَبَعَثَ
"Has Allah sent
ٱللَّهُ
"Has Allah sent
بَشَرًا
a human
رَّسُولًا
Messenger?"

Wama mana'a alnnasa an yuminoo ith jaahumu alhuda illa an qaloo aba'atha Allahu basharan rasoolan

Sahih International:

And what prevented the people from believing when guidance came to them except that they said, "Has Allah sent a human messenger?"

Tafsir (More Translations)
Surah [21] Al-Anbiya' : 8

وَمَا جَعَلۡنٰهُمۡ جَسَدًا لَّا يَاۡكُلُوۡنَ الطَّعَامَ وَمَا كَانُوۡا خٰلِدِيۡنَ(الأنبياء :8)

وَمَا
And not
جَعَلْنَٰهُمْ
We made them
جَسَدًا
bodies
لَّا
not
يَأْكُلُونَ
eating
ٱلطَّعَامَ
the food
وَمَا
and not
كَانُوا۟
they were
خَٰلِدِينَ
immortals

Wama ja'alnahum jasadan la yakuloona altta'ama wama kanoo khalideena

Sahih International:

And We did not make the prophets forms not eating food, nor were they immortal [on earth].

Tafsir (More Translations)
Surah [25] Al-Furqan : 20

وَمَاۤ اَرۡسَلۡنَا قَبۡلَكَ مِنَ الۡمُرۡسَلِيۡنَ اِلَّاۤ اِنَّهُمۡ لَيَاۡكُلُوۡنَ الطَّعَامَ وَيَمۡشُوۡنَ فِى الۡاَسۡوَاقِ‌ ؕ وَجَعَلۡنَا بَعۡضَكُمۡ لِبَعۡضٍ فِتۡنَةً  ؕ اَتَصۡبِرُوۡنَ‌ۚ وَكَانَ رَبُّكَ بَصِيۡرًا(الفرقان :20)

وَمَآ
And not
أَرْسَلْنَا
We sent
قَبْلَكَ
before you
مِنَ
any
ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ
Messengers
إِلَّآ
but
إِنَّهُمْ
indeed they
لَيَأْكُلُونَ
[surely] ate
ٱلطَّعَامَ
food
وَيَمْشُونَ
and walked
فِى
in
ٱلْأَسْوَاقِۗ
the markets
وَجَعَلْنَا
And We have made
بَعْضَكُمْ
some of you
لِبَعْضٍ
for others
فِتْنَةً
a trial
أَتَصْبِرُونَۗ
will you have patience?
وَكَانَ
And is
رَبُّكَ
your Lord
بَصِيرًا
All-Seer

Wama arsalna qablaka mina almursaleena illa innahum layakuloona altta'ama wayamshoona fee alaswaqi waja'alna ba'dakum liba'din fitnatan atasbiroona wakana rabbuka baseeran

Sahih International:

And We did not send before you, [O Muhammad], any of the messengers except that they ate food and walked in the markets. And We have made some of you [people] as trial for others - will you have patience? And ever is your Lord, Seeing.

Tafsir (More Translations)
Surah [25] Al-Furqan : 7

وَقَالُوۡا مَالِ هٰذَا الرَّسُوۡلِ يَاۡكُلُ الطَّعَامَ وَيَمۡشِىۡ فِى الۡاَسۡوَاقِ‌ ؕ لَوۡلَاۤ اُنۡزِلَ اِلَيۡهِ مَلَكٌ فَيَكُوۡنَ مَعَهٗ نَذِيۡرًا(الفرقان :7)

وَقَالُوا۟
And they say
مَالِ
"Why does
هَٰذَا
this
ٱلرَّسُولِ
Messenger
يَأْكُلُ
eat
ٱلطَّعَامَ
[the] food
وَيَمْشِى
and walk
فِى
in
ٱلْأَسْوَاقِۙ
the markets?
لَوْلَآ
Why not
أُنزِلَ
is sent down
إِلَيْهِ
to him
مَلَكٌ
an Angel
فَيَكُونَ
then he be
مَعَهُۥ
with him
نَذِيرًا
a warner?

Waqaloo mali hatha alrrasooli yakulu altta'ama wayamshee fee alaswaqi lawla onzila ilayhi malakun fayakoona ma'ahu natheeran

Sahih International:

And they say, "What is this messenger that eats food and walks in the markets? Why was there not sent down to him an angel so he would be with him a warner?

Tafsir (More Translations)
Surah [25] Al-Furqan : 8

اَوۡ يُلۡقٰٓى اِلَيۡهِ كَنۡزٌ اَوۡ تَكُوۡنُ لَهٗ جَنَّةٌ يَّاۡكُلُ مِنۡهَا‌ ؕ وَقَالَ الظّٰلِمُوۡنَ اِنۡ تَتَّبِعُوۡنَ اِلَّا رَجُلًا مَّسۡحُوۡرًا(الفرقان :8)

أَوْ
Or
يُلْقَىٰٓ
is delivered
إِلَيْهِ
to him
كَنزٌ
a treasure
أَوْ
or
تَكُونُ
is
لَهُۥ
for him
جَنَّةٌ
a garden
يَأْكُلُ
he may eat
مِنْهَاۚ
from it
وَقَالَ
And say
ٱلظَّٰلِمُونَ
the wrongdoers
إِن
"Not
تَتَّبِعُونَ
you follow
إِلَّا
but
رَجُلًا
a man
مَّسْحُورًا
bewitched"

Aw yulqa ilayhi kanzun aw takoonu lahu jannatun yakulu minha waqala alththalimoona in tattabi'oona illa rajulan mashooran

Sahih International:

Or [why is not] a treasure presented to him [from heaven], or does he [not] have a garden from which he eats?" And the wrongdoers say, "You follow not but a man affected by magic."
