عَلٰٓى اَنْ نُّبَدِّلَ خَيْرًا مِّنْهُمْۙ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَسْبُوْقِيْنَ   ( المعارج: ٤١ )

ʿalā
عَلَىٰٓ
To
an
أَن
that
nubaddila
نُّبَدِّلَ
We replace
khayran
خَيْرًا
(with) better
min'hum
مِّنْهُمْ
than them;
wamā
وَمَا
and not
naḥnu
نَحْنُ
We
bimasbūqīna
بِمَسْبُوقِينَ
(are) to be outrun

To replace them with better than them; and We are not to be outdone.

Tafsir

فَذَرْهُمْ يَخُوْضُوْا وَيَلْعَبُوْا حَتّٰى يُلٰقُوْا يَوْمَهُمُ الَّذِيْ يُوْعَدُوْنَۙ  ( المعارج: ٤٢ )

fadharhum
فَذَرْهُمْ
So leave them
yakhūḍū
يَخُوضُوا۟
(to) converse vainly
wayalʿabū
وَيَلْعَبُوا۟
and amuse themselves
ḥattā
حَتَّىٰ
until
yulāqū
يُلَٰقُوا۟
they meet
yawmahumu
يَوْمَهُمُ
their Day
alladhī
ٱلَّذِى
which
yūʿadūna
يُوعَدُونَ
they are promised

So leave them to converse vainly and amuse themselves until they meet their Day which they are promised –

Tafsir

يَوْمَ يَخْرُجُوْنَ مِنَ الْاَجْدَاثِ سِرَاعًا كَاَنَّهُمْ اِلٰى نُصُبٍ يُّوْفِضُوْنَۙ  ( المعارج: ٤٣ )

يَوْمَ
(The) Day
yakhrujūna
يَخْرُجُونَ
they will come out
mina
مِنَ
from
l-ajdāthi
ٱلْأَجْدَاثِ
the graves
sirāʿan
سِرَاعًا
rapidly
ka-annahum
كَأَنَّهُمْ
as if they (were)
ilā
إِلَىٰ
to
nuṣubin
نُصُبٍ
a goal
yūfiḍūna
يُوفِضُونَ
hastening

The Day they will emerge from the graves rapidly as if they were, toward an erected idol, hastening.

Tafsir

خَاشِعَةً اَبْصَارُهُمْ تَرْهَقُهُمْ ذِلَّةٌ ۗذٰلِكَ الْيَوْمُ الَّذِيْ كَانُوْا يُوْعَدُوْنَ ࣖ   ( المعارج: ٤٤ )

khāshiʿatan
خَٰشِعَةً
Humbled
abṣāruhum
أَبْصَٰرُهُمْ
their eyes
tarhaquhum
تَرْهَقُهُمْ
will cover them
dhillatun
ذِلَّةٌۚ
humiliation
dhālika
ذَٰلِكَ
That
l-yawmu
ٱلْيَوْمُ
(is) the Day
alladhī
ٱلَّذِى
which
kānū
كَانُوا۟
they were
yūʿadūna
يُوعَدُونَ
promised

Their eyes humbled, humiliation will cover them. That is the Day which they had been promised.
