كَلَّآ اِنَّهَا تَذْكِرَةٌ ۚ ( عبس: ١١ )
No! Indeed, they [i.e., these verses] are a reminder;
فَمَنْ شَاۤءَ ذَكَرَهٗ ۘ ( عبس: ١٢ )
So whoever wills may remember it.
فِيْ صُحُفٍ مُّكَرَّمَةٍۙ ( عبس: ١٣ )
[It is recorded] in honored sheets,
مَّرْفُوْعَةٍ مُّطَهَّرَةٍ ۢ ۙ ( عبس: ١٤ )
Exalted and purified,
بِاَيْدِيْ سَفَرَةٍۙ ( عبس: ١٥ )
[Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels,
كِرَامٍۢ بَرَرَةٍۗ ( عبس: ١٦ )
Noble and dutiful.
قُتِلَ الْاِنْسَانُ مَآ اَكْفَرَهٗۗ ( عبس: ١٧ )
Destroyed [i.e., cursed] is man; how disbelieving is he.
مِنْ اَيِّ شَيْءٍ خَلَقَهٗۗ ( عبس: ١٨ )
From what thing [i.e., substance] did He create him?
مِنْ نُّطْفَةٍۗ خَلَقَهٗ فَقَدَّرَهٗۗ ( عبس: ١٩ )
From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him;
ثُمَّ السَّبِيْلَ يَسَّرَهٗۙ ( عبس: ٢٠ )
Then He eased the way for him;
