وَٱلسَّمَآءِ
By the sky
ذَاتِ
which
ٱلرَّجْعِ
returns

Wassamaaa'i zaatir raj'

By the sky which sends back

Tafsir

وَٱلْأَرْضِ
And the earth
ذَاتِ
which
ٱلصَّدْعِ
cracks open

Wal ardi zaatis sad'

And [by] the earth which splits,

Tafsir

إِنَّهُۥ
Indeed it
لَقَوْلٌ
(is) surely a Word
فَصْلٌ
decisive

Innahoo laqawlun fasl

Indeed, it [i.e., the Quran] is a decisive statement,

Tafsir

وَمَا
And not
هُوَ
it
بِٱلْهَزْلِ
(is) for amusement

Wa maa huwa bil hazl

And it is not amusement.

Tafsir

إِنَّهُمْ
Indeed they
يَكِيدُونَ
are plotting
كَيْدًا
a plot

Innahum yakeedoona kaidaa

Indeed, they are planning a plan,

Tafsir

وَأَكِيدُ
But I am planning
كَيْدًا
a plan

Wa akeedu kaidaa

But I am planning a plan.

Tafsir

فَمَهِّلِ
So give respite
ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ
(to) the disbelievers
أَمْهِلْهُمْ
Give respite to them -
رُوَيْدًۢا
little

Famahhilil kaafireena amhilhum ruwaidaa

So allow time for the disbelievers. Leave them awhile.
