بَلۡ قَالُوۡۤا اَضۡغَاثُ اَحۡلَامٍۢ بَلِ افۡتَـرٰٮهُ بَلۡ هُوَ شَاعِرٌ ۖۚ فَلۡيَاۡتِنَا بِاٰيَةٍ كَمَاۤ اُرۡسِلَ الۡاَوَّلُوۡنَ(الأنبياء :5)
Bal qaloo adghathu ahlamin bali iftarahu bal huwa sha'irun falyatina biayatin kama orsila alawwaloona
Sahih International:
But they say, "[The revelation is but] a mixture of false dreams; rather, he has invented it; rather, he is a poet. So let him bring us a sign just as the previous [messengers] were sent [with miracles]."
وَالشُّعَرَآءُ يَتَّبِعُهُمُ الۡغَاوٗنَؕ(الشعراء :224)
Waalshshu'arao yattabi'uhumu alghawoona
Sahih International:
And the poets - [only] the deviators follow them;
اَلَمۡ تَرَ اَنَّهُمۡ فِىۡ كُلِّ وَادٍ يَّهِيۡمُوۡنَۙ(الشعراء :225)
Alam tara annahum fee kulli wadin yaheemoona
Sahih International:
Do you not see that in every valley they roam
وَاَنَّهُمۡ يَقُوۡلُوۡنَ مَا لَا يَفۡعَلُوۡنَۙ(الشعراء :226)
Waannahum yaqooloona ma la yaf'aloona
Sahih International:
And that they say what they do not do? -
اِلَّا الَّذِيۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡا وَعَمِلُوا الصّٰلِحٰتِ وَذَكَرُوا اللّٰهَ كَثِيۡرًا وَّانْتَصَرُوۡا مِنۡۢ بَعۡدِ مَا ظُلِمُوۡا ؕ وَسَيَـعۡلَمُ الَّذِيۡنَ ظَلَمُوۡۤا اَىَّ مُنۡقَلَبٍ يَّـنۡقَلِبُوۡنَ(الشعراء :227)
Illa allatheena amanoo wa'amiloo alssalihati wathakaroo Allaha katheeran waintasaroo min ba'di ma thulimoo wasaya'lamu allatheena thalamoo ayya munqalabin yanqaliboona
Sahih International:
Except those [poets] who believe and do righteous deeds and remember Allah often and defend [the Muslims] after they were wronged. And those who have wronged are going to know to what [kind of] return they will be returned.
وَمَا عَلَّمۡنٰهُ الشِّعۡرَ وَمَا يَنۡۢبَغِىۡ لَهٗؕ اِنۡ هُوَ اِلَّا ذِكۡرٌ وَّقُرۡاٰنٌ مُّبِيۡنٌۙ(يس :69)
Wama 'allamnahu alshshi'ra wama yanbaghee lahu in huwa illa thikrun waquranun mubeenun
Sahih International:
And We did not give Prophet Muhammad, knowledge of poetry, nor is it befitting for him. It is not but a message and a clear Qur'an
وَيَقُوۡلُوۡنَ اَٮِٕنَّا لَتٰرِكُوۡۤا اٰلِهَـتِنَا لِشَاعِرٍ مَّجۡـنُوۡنٍ(الصافات :36)
Wayaqooloona ainna latarikoo alihatina lisha'irin majnoonin
Sahih International:
And were saying, "Are we to leave our gods for a mad poet?"
اَمۡ يَقُوۡلُوۡنَ شَاعِرٌ نَّتَـرَبَّصُ بِهٖ رَيۡبَ الۡمَنُوۡنِ(الطور :30)
Am yaqooloona sha'irun natarabbasu bihi rayba almanooni
Sahih International:
Or do they say [of you], "A poet for whom we await a misfortune of time?"
وَّمَا هُوَ بِقَوۡلِ شَاعِرٍؕ قَلِيۡلًا مَّا تُؤۡمِنُوۡنَۙ(الحاقة :41)
Wama huwa biqawli sha'irin qaleelan ma tuminoona
Sahih International:
And it is not the word of a poet; little do you believe.
