Surah [2] Al-Baqara : 168

يٰٓاَيُّهَا النَّاسُ كُلُوۡا مِمَّا فِى الۡاَرۡضِ حَلٰلًا طَيِّبًا  ۖ وَّلَا تَتَّبِعُوۡا خُطُوٰتِ الشَّيۡطٰنِؕ اِنَّهٗ لَـكُمۡ عَدُوٌّ مُّبِيۡنٌ(البقرة :168)

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا
O
ٱلنَّاسُ
mankind!
كُلُوا۟
Eat
مِمَّا
of what
فِى
(is) in
ٱلْأَرْضِ
the earth
حَلَٰلًا
lawful
طَيِّبًا
(and) good
وَلَا
And (do) not
تَتَّبِعُوا۟
follow
خُطُوَٰتِ
(the) footsteps (of)
ٱلشَّيْطَٰنِۚ
the Shaitaan
إِنَّهُۥ
Indeed, he
لَكُمْ
(is) to you
عَدُوٌّ
an enemy
مُّبِينٌ
clear

Ya ayyuha alnnasu kuloo mimma fee alardi halalan tayyiban wala tattabi'oo khutuwati alshshaytani innahu lakum 'aduwwun mubeenun

Sahih International:

O mankind, eat from whatever is on earth [that is] lawful and good and do not follow the footsteps of Satan. Indeed, he is to you a clear enemy.

Surah [2] Al-Baqara : 173

اِنَّمَا حَرَّمَ عَلَيۡکُمُ الۡمَيۡتَةَ وَالدَّمَ وَلَحۡمَ الۡخِنۡزِيۡرِ وَمَآ اُهِلَّ بِهٖ لِغَيۡرِ اللّٰهِ‌ۚ فَمَنِ اضۡطُرَّ غَيۡرَ بَاغٍ وَّلَا عَادٍ فَلَاۤ اِثۡمَ عَلَيۡهِ‌ؕ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ غَفُوۡرٌ رَّحِيۡمٌ(البقرة :173)

إِنَّمَا
Only
حَرَّمَ
He has forbidden
عَلَيْكُمُ
to you
ٱلْمَيْتَةَ
the dead animals
وَٱلدَّمَ
and [the] blood
وَلَحْمَ
and flesh
ٱلْخِنزِيرِ
(of) swine
وَمَآ
and what
أُهِلَّ
has been dedicated
بِهِۦ
[with it]
لِغَيْرِ
to other than
ٱللَّهِۖ
Allah
فَمَنِ
So whoever
ٱضْطُرَّ
(is) forced by necessity
غَيْرَ
without
بَاغٍ
(being) disobedient
وَلَا
and not
عَادٍ
transgressor
فَلَآ
then no
إِثْمَ
sin
عَلَيْهِۚ
on him
إِنَّ
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
غَفُورٌ
(is) Oft-Forgiving
رَّحِيمٌ
Most Merciful

Innama harrama 'alaykumu almaytata waalddama walahma alkhinzeeri wama ohilla bihi lighayri Allahi famani idturra ghayra baghin wala 'adin fala ithma 'alayhi inna Allaha ghafoorun raheemun

Sahih International:

He has only forbidden to you dead animals, blood, the flesh of swine, and that which has been dedicated to other than Allah . But whoever is forced [by necessity], neither desiring [it] nor transgressing [its limit], there is no sin upon him. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.

Surah [3] Ali Imran : 93

كُلُّ الطَّعَامِ كَانَ حِلًّا لِّبَنِىۡۤ اِسۡرَآءِيۡلَ اِلَّا مَا حَرَّمَ اِسۡرَآءِيۡلُ عَلٰى نَفۡسِهٖ مِنۡ قَبۡلِ اَنۡ تُنَزَّلَ التَّوۡرٰٮةُ ‌ؕ قُلۡ فَاۡتُوۡا بِالتَّوۡرٰٮةِ فَاتۡلُوۡهَاۤ اِنۡ كُنۡتُمۡ صٰدِقِيۡنَ(آل عمران :93)

كُلُّ
All
ٱلطَّعَامِ
[the] food
كَانَ
was
حِلًّا
lawful
لِّبَنِىٓ
for (the) Children
إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ
(of) Israel
إِلَّا
except
مَا
what
حَرَّمَ
made unlawful
إِسْرَٰٓءِيلُ
Israel
عَلَىٰ
upon
نَفْسِهِۦ
himself
مِن
[from]
قَبْلِ
before
أَن
[that]
تُنَزَّلَ
(was) revealed
ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةُۗ
the Taurat
قُلْ
Say
فَأْتُوا۟
"So bring
بِٱلتَّوْرَىٰةِ
the Taurat
فَٱتْلُوهَآ
and recite it
إِن
if
كُنتُمْ
you are
صَٰدِقِينَ
truthful"

Kullu altta'ami kana hillan libanee israeela illa ma harrama israeelu 'ala nafsihi min qabli an tunazzala alttawratu qul fatoo bialttawrati faotlooha in kuntum sadiqeena

Sahih International:

All food was lawful to the Children of Israel except what Israel had made unlawful to himself before the Torah was revealed. Say, [O Muhammad], "So bring the Torah and recite it, if you should be truthful."

Surah [5] Al-Ma'ida : 3

حُرِّمَتۡ عَلَيۡكُمُ الۡمَيۡتَةُ وَالدَّمُ وَلَحۡمُ الۡخِنۡزِيۡرِ وَمَاۤ اُهِلَّ لِغَيۡرِ اللّٰهِ بِهٖ وَالۡمُنۡخَنِقَةُ وَالۡمَوۡقُوۡذَةُ وَالۡمُتَرَدِّيَةُ وَالنَّطِيۡحَةُ وَمَاۤ اَكَلَ السَّبُعُ اِلَّا مَا ذَكَّيۡتُمۡ وَمَا ذُ بِحَ عَلَى النُّصُبِ وَاَنۡ تَسۡتَقۡسِمُوۡا بِالۡاَزۡلَامِ‌ ؕ ذٰ لِكُمۡ فِسۡقٌ‌ ؕ اَلۡيَوۡمَ يَٮِٕسَ الَّذِيۡنَ كَفَرُوۡا مِنۡ دِيۡـنِكُمۡ فَلَا تَخۡشَوۡهُمۡ وَاخۡشَوۡنِ‌ ؕ اَ لۡيَوۡمَ اَكۡمَلۡتُ لَـكُمۡ دِيۡنَكُمۡ وَاَ تۡمَمۡتُ عَلَيۡكُمۡ نِعۡمَتِىۡ وَرَضِيۡتُ لَـكُمُ الۡاِسۡلَامَ دِيۡنًا‌ ؕ فَمَنِ اضۡطُرَّ فِىۡ مَخۡمَصَةٍ غَيۡرَ مُتَجَانِفٍ لِّاِثۡمٍ‌ۙ فَاِنَّ اللّٰهَ غَفُوۡرٌ رَّحِيۡمٌ(المائدة :3)

حُرِّمَتْ
Are made unlawful
عَلَيْكُمُ
on you
ٱلْمَيْتَةُ
the dead animals
وَٱلدَّمُ
and the blood
وَلَحْمُ
and flesh
ٱلْخِنزِيرِ
(of) the swine
وَمَآ
and what
أُهِلَّ
has been dedicated
لِغَيْرِ
to other than
ٱللَّهِ
Allah
بِهِۦ
[on it]
وَٱلْمُنْخَنِقَةُ
and that which is strangled (to death)
وَٱلْمَوْقُوذَةُ
and that which is hit fatally
وَٱلْمُتَرَدِّيَةُ
and that which has a fatal fall
وَٱلنَّطِيحَةُ
and that which is gored by horns
وَمَآ
and that which
أَكَلَ
ate (it)
ٱلسَّبُعُ
the wild animal
إِلَّا
except
مَا
what
ذَكَّيْتُمْ
you slaughtered
وَمَا
and what
ذُبِحَ
is sacrificed
عَلَى
on
ٱلنُّصُبِ
the stone altars
وَأَن
and that
تَسْتَقْسِمُوا۟
you seek division
بِٱلْأَزْلَٰمِۚ
by divining arrows -
ذَٰلِكُمْ
that
فِسْقٌۗ
(is) grave disobedience
ٱلْيَوْمَ
This day
يَئِسَ
(have) despaired
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
كَفَرُوا۟
disbelieved
مِن
of
دِينِكُمْ
your religion
فَلَا
so (do) not
تَخْشَوْهُمْ
fear them
وَٱخْشَوْنِۚ
but fear Me
ٱلْيَوْمَ
This day
أَكْمَلْتُ
I have perfected
لَكُمْ
for you
دِينَكُمْ
your religion
وَأَتْمَمْتُ
and I have completed
عَلَيْكُمْ
upon you
نِعْمَتِى
My Favor
وَرَضِيتُ
and I have approved
لَكُمُ
for you
ٱلْإِسْلَٰمَ
[the] Islam
دِينًاۚ
(as) a religion
فَمَنِ
But whoever
ٱضْطُرَّ
(is) forced
فِى
by
مَخْمَصَةٍ
hunger
غَيْرَ
(and) not
مُتَجَانِفٍ
inclining
لِّإِثْمٍۙ
to sin
فَإِنَّ
then indeed
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
غَفُورٌ
(is) Oft-Forgiving
رَّحِيمٌ
Most Merciful

Hurrimat 'alaykumu almaytatu waalddamu walahmu alkhinzeeri wama ohilla lighayri Allahi bihi waalmunkhaniqatu waalmawqoothatu waalmutaraddiyatu waalnnateehatu wama akala alssabu'u illa ma thakkaytum wama thubiha 'ala alnnusubi waan tastaqsimoo bialazlami thalikum fisqun alyawma yaisa allatheena kafaroo min deenikum fala takhshawhum waikhshawni alyawma akmaltu lakum deenakum waatmamtu 'alaykum ni'matee waradeetu lakumu alislama deenan famani idturra fee makhmasatin ghayra mutajanifin liithmin fainna Allaha ghafoorun raheemun

Sahih International:

Prohibited to you are dead animals, blood, the flesh of swine, and that which has been dedicated to other than Allah, and [those animals] killed by strangling or by a violent blow or by a head-long fall or by the goring of horns, and those from which a wild animal has eaten, except what you [are able to] slaughter [before its death], and those which are sacrificed on stone altars, and [prohibited is] that you seek decision through divining arrows. That is grave disobedience. This day those who disbelieve have despaired of [defeating] your religion; so fear them not, but fear Me. This day I have perfected for you your religion and completed My favor upon you and have approved for you Islam as religion. But whoever is forced by severe hunger with no inclination to sin - then indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.

Surah [5] Al-Ma'ida : 4

يَسۡـَٔـــلُوۡنَكَ مَاذَاۤ اُحِلَّ لَهُمۡ‌ؕ قُلۡ اُحِلَّ لَـكُمُ الطَّيِّبٰتُ‌ ۙ وَمَا عَلَّمۡتُمۡ مِّنَ الۡجَـوَارِحِ مُكَلِّبِيۡنَ تُعَلِّمُوۡنَهُنَّ مِمَّا عَلَّمَكُمُ اللّٰهُ‌ فَكُلُوۡا مِمَّاۤ اَمۡسَكۡنَ عَلَيۡكُمۡ وَاذۡكُرُوا اسۡمَ اللّٰهِ عَلَيۡهِ‌ ۖ وَاتَّقُوا اللّٰهَ‌ ؕ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ سَرِيۡعُ الۡحِسَابِ(المائدة :4)

يَسْـَٔلُونَكَ
They ask you
مَاذَآ
what
أُحِلَّ
(is) made lawful
لَهُمْۖ
for them
قُلْ
Say
أُحِلَّ
"Are made lawful
لَكُمُ
for you
ٱلطَّيِّبَٰتُۙ
the good things
وَمَا
and what
عَلَّمْتُم
you have taught
مِّنَ
of
ٱلْجَوَارِحِ
(your) hunting animals
مُكَلِّبِينَ
ones who train animals to hunt
تُعَلِّمُونَهُنَّ
you teach them
مِمَّا
of what
عَلَّمَكُمُ
has taught you
ٱللَّهُۖ
Allah
فَكُلُوا۟
So eat
مِمَّآ
of what
أَمْسَكْنَ
they catch
عَلَيْكُمْ
for you
وَٱذْكُرُوا۟
but mention
ٱسْمَ
(the) name
ٱللَّهِ
(of) Allah
عَلَيْهِۖ
on it
وَٱتَّقُوا۟
and fear
ٱللَّهَۚ
Allah
إِنَّ
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
سَرِيعُ
is swift
ٱلْحِسَابِ
(in taking) account

Yasaloonaka matha ohilla lahum qul ohilla lakumu alttayyibatu wama 'allamtum mina aljawarihi mukallibeena tu'allimoonahunna mimma 'allamakumu Allahu fakuloo mimma amsakna 'alaykum waothkuroo isma Allahi 'alayhi waittaqoo Allaha inna Allaha saree'u alhisabi

Sahih International:

They ask you, [O Muhammad], what has been made lawful for them. Say, "Lawful for you are [all] good foods and [game caught by] what you have trained of hunting animals which you train as Allah has taught you. So eat of what they catch for you, and mention the name of Allah upon it, and fear Allah ." Indeed, Allah is swift in account.

Tafsir (More Translations)
Surah [6] Al-An'am : 118

فَـكُلُوۡا مِمَّا ذُكِرَ اسۡمُ اللّٰهِ عَلَيۡهِ اِنۡ كُنۡتُمۡ بِاٰيٰتِهٖ مُؤۡمِنِيۡنَ‏(الأنعام :118)

فَكُلُوا۟
So eat
مِمَّا
of what
ذُكِرَ
(is) mentioned
ٱسْمُ
(the) name
ٱللَّهِ
(of) Allah
عَلَيْهِ
on it
إِن
if
كُنتُم
you are
بِـَٔايَٰتِهِۦ
in His Verses -
مُؤْمِنِينَ
believers

Fakuloo mimma thukira ismu Allahi 'alayhi in kuntum biayatihi mumineena

Sahih International:

So eat of that [meat] upon which the name of Allah has been mentioned, if you are believers in His verses.

Tafsir (More Translations)
Surah [6] Al-An'am : 121

وَلَا تَاۡكُلُوۡا مِمَّا لَمۡ يُذۡكَرِ اسۡمُ اللّٰهِ عَلَيۡهِ وَاِنَّهٗ لَفِسۡقٌ ؕ وَاِنَّ الشَّيٰطِيۡنَ لَيُوۡحُوۡنَ اِلٰٓى اَوۡلِيٰٓـٮِٕـهِمۡ لِيُجَادِلُوۡكُمۡ‌ ۚ وَاِنۡ اَطَعۡتُمُوۡهُمۡ اِنَّكُمۡ لَمُشۡرِكُوۡنَ(الأنعام :121)

وَلَا
And (do) not
تَأْكُلُوا۟
eat
مِمَّا
of that
لَمْ
not
يُذْكَرِ
has been mentioned
ٱسْمُ
(the) name
ٱللَّهِ
(of) Allah
عَلَيْهِ
on it
وَإِنَّهُۥ
and indeed, it (is)
لَفِسْقٌۗ
grave disobedience
وَإِنَّ
And indeed
ٱلشَّيَٰطِينَ
the devils
لَيُوحُونَ
inspire
إِلَىٰٓ
to
أَوْلِيَآئِهِمْ
their friends
لِيُجَٰدِلُوكُمْۖ
so that they dispute with you
وَإِنْ
and if
أَطَعْتُمُوهُمْ
you obey them
إِنَّكُمْ
indeed, you
لَمُشْرِكُونَ
(would) be the polytheists

Wala takuloo mimma lam yuthkari ismu Allahi 'alayhi wainnahu lafisqun wainna alshshayateena layoohoona ila awliyaihim liyujadilookum wain ata'tumoohum innakum lamushrikoona

Sahih International:

And do not eat of that upon which the name of Allah has not been mentioned, for indeed, it is grave disobedience. And indeed do the devils inspire their allies [among men] to dispute with you. And if you were to obey them, indeed, you would be associators [of others with Him].

Tafsir (More Translations)
Surah [6] Al-An'am : 138

وَقَالُوۡا هٰذِهٖۤ اَنۡعَامٌ وَّحَرۡثٌ حِجۡرٌ ‌ۖ لَّا يَطۡعَمُهَاۤ اِلَّا مَنۡ نَّشَآءُ بِزَعۡمِهِمۡ وَاَنۡعَامٌ حُرِّمَتۡ ظُهُوۡرُهَا وَاَنۡعَامٌ لَّا يَذۡكُرُوۡنَ اسۡمَ اللّٰهِ عَلَيۡهَا افۡتِرَآءً عَلَيۡهِ ‌ؕ سَيَجۡزِيۡهِمۡ بِمَا كَانُوۡا يَفۡتَرُوۡنَ(الأنعام :138)

وَقَالُوا۟
And they say
هَٰذِهِۦٓ
"These
أَنْعَٰمٌ
cattle
وَحَرْثٌ
and crops
حِجْرٌ
(are) forbidden
لَّا
no (one)
يَطْعَمُهَآ
can eat them
إِلَّا
except
مَن
whom
نَّشَآءُ
we will"
بِزَعْمِهِمْ
by their claim
وَأَنْعَٰمٌ
And cattle
حُرِّمَتْ
forbidden
ظُهُورُهَا
(are) their backs
وَأَنْعَٰمٌ
and cattle
لَّا
not
يَذْكُرُونَ
they mention
ٱسْمَ
(the) name
ٱللَّهِ
(of) Allah
عَلَيْهَا
on it
ٱفْتِرَآءً
(as) an invention
عَلَيْهِۚ
against Him
سَيَجْزِيهِم
He will recompense them
بِمَا
for what
كَانُوا۟
they used to
يَفْتَرُونَ
invent

Waqaloo hathihi an'amun waharthun hijrun la yat'amuha illa man nashao biza'mihim waan'amun hurrimat thuhooruha waan'amun la yathkuroona isma Allahi 'alayha iftiraan 'alayhi sayajzeehim bima kanoo yaftaroona

Sahih International:

And they say, "These animals and crops are forbidden; no one may eat from them except whom we will," by their claim. And there are those [camels] whose backs are forbidden [by them] and those upon which the name of Allah is not mentioned - [all of this] an invention of untruth about Him. He will punish them for what they were inventing.

Surah [6] Al-An'am : 145

‌قُل لَّاۤ اَجِدُ فِىۡ مَاۤ اُوۡحِىَ اِلَىَّ مُحَرَّمًا عَلٰى طَاعِمٍ يَّطۡعَمُهٗۤ اِلَّاۤ اَنۡ يَّكُوۡنَ مَيۡتَةً اَوۡ دَمًا مَّسۡفُوۡحًا اَوۡ لَحۡمَ خِنۡزِيۡرٍ فَاِنَّهٗ رِجۡسٌ اَوۡ فِسۡقًا اُهِلَّ لِغَيۡرِ اللّٰهِ بِهٖ‌‌ۚ فَمَنِ اضۡطُرَّ غَيۡرَ بَاغٍ وَّلَا عَادٍ فَاِنَّ رَبَّكَ غَفُوۡرٌ رَّحِيۡمٌ(الأنعام :145)

قُل
Say
لَّآ
"Not
أَجِدُ
"(do) I find
فِى
in
مَآ
what
أُوحِىَ
has been revealed
إِلَىَّ
to me
مُحَرَّمًا
(anything) forbidden
عَلَىٰ
to
طَاعِمٍ
an eater
يَطْعَمُهُۥٓ
who eats it
إِلَّآ
except
أَن
that
يَكُونَ
it be
مَيْتَةً
dead
أَوْ
or
دَمًا
blood
مَّسْفُوحًا
poured forth
أَوْ
or
لَحْمَ
(the) flesh
خِنزِيرٍ
(of) swine
فَإِنَّهُۥ
for indeed, it
رِجْسٌ
(is) filth
أَوْ
or
فِسْقًا
(it be) disobedience
أُهِلَّ
[is] dedicated
لِغَيْرِ
to other than
ٱللَّهِ
Allah
بِهِۦۚ
[on it]
فَمَنِ
But whoever
ٱضْطُرَّ
(is) compelled
غَيْرَ
not
بَاغٍ
desiring
وَلَا
and not
عَادٍ
transgressing
فَإِنَّ
then indeed
رَبَّكَ
your Lord
غَفُورٌ
(is) Oft-Forgiving
رَّحِيمٌ
Most Merciful"

Qul la ajidu fee ma oohiya ilayya muharraman 'ala ta'imin yat'amuhu illa an yakoona maytatan aw daman masfoohan aw lahma khinzeerin fainnahu rijsun aw fisqan ohilla lighayri Allahi bihi famani idturra ghayra baghin wala 'adin fainna rabbaka ghafoorun raheemun

Sahih International:

Say, "I do not find within that which was revealed to me [anything] forbidden to one who would eat it unless it be a dead animal or blood spilled out or the flesh of swine - for indeed, it is impure - or it be [that slaughtered in] disobedience, dedicated to other than Allah . But whoever is forced [by necessity], neither desiring [it] nor transgressing [its limit], then indeed, your Lord is Forgiving and Merciful."

Surah [6] Al-An'am : 146

وَعَلَى الَّذِيۡنَ هَادُوۡا حَرَّمۡنَا كُلَّ ذِىۡ ظُفُرٍ‌‌ ۚ وَمِنَ الۡبَقَرِ وَالۡغَـنَمِ حَرَّمۡنَا عَلَيۡهِمۡ شُحُوۡمَهُمَاۤ اِلَّا مَا حَمَلَتۡ ظُهُوۡرُهُمَاۤ اَوِ الۡحَـوَايَاۤ اَوۡ مَا اخۡتَلَطَ بِعَظۡمٍ‌ ؕ ذٰ لِكَ جَزَيۡنٰهُمۡ بِبَـغۡيِهِمۡ‌‌ ۖ وَاِنَّا لَصٰدِقُوۡنَ(الأنعام :146)

وَعَلَى
And to
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
هَادُوا۟
are Jews
حَرَّمْنَا
We forbade
كُلَّ
every
ذِى
(animal) with
ظُفُرٍۖ
claws
وَمِنَ
and of
ٱلْبَقَرِ
the cows
وَٱلْغَنَمِ
and the sheep
حَرَّمْنَا
We forbade
عَلَيْهِمْ
to them
شُحُومَهُمَآ
their fat
إِلَّا
except
مَا
what
حَمَلَتْ
carried
ظُهُورُهُمَآ
their backs
أَوِ
or
ٱلْحَوَايَآ
the entrails
أَوْ
or
مَا
what
ٱخْتَلَطَ
(is) joined
بِعَظْمٍۚ
with the bone
ذَٰلِكَ
That
جَزَيْنَٰهُم
(is) their recompense
بِبَغْيِهِمْۖ
for their rebellion
وَإِنَّا
And indeed, We
لَصَٰدِقُونَ
[surely] are truthful

Wa'ala allatheena hadoo harramna kulla thee thufurin wamina albaqari waalghanami harramna 'alayhim shuhoomahuma illa ma hamalat thuhooruhuma awi alhawaya aw ma ikhtalata bi'athmin thalika jazaynahum bibaghyihim wainna lasadiqoona

Sahih International:

And to those who are Jews We prohibited every animal of uncloven hoof; and of the cattle and the sheep We prohibited to them their fat, except what adheres to their backs or the entrails or what is joined with bone. [By] that We repaid them for their injustice. And indeed, We are truthful.
