Surah [2] Al-Baqara : 219

يَسۡـــَٔلُوۡنَكَ عَنِ الۡخَمۡرِ وَالۡمَيۡسِرِ‌ؕ قُلۡ فِيۡهِمَآ اِثۡمٌ کَبِيۡرٌ وَّمَنَافِعُ لِلنَّاسِ وَاِثۡمُهُمَآ اَکۡبَرُ مِنۡ نَّفۡعِهِمَا ؕ وَيَسۡـــَٔلُوۡنَكَ مَاذَا يُنْفِقُونَ قُلِ الۡعَفۡوَ‌ؕ كَذٰلِكَ يُبَيِّنُ اللّٰهُ لَـكُمُ الۡاٰيٰتِ لَعَلَّکُمۡ تَتَفَكَّرُوۡنَۙ(البقرة :219)

يَسْـَٔلُونَكَ
They ask you
عَنِ
about
ٱلْخَمْرِ
[the] intoxicants
وَٱلْمَيْسِرِۖ
and [the] games of chance
قُلْ
Say
فِيهِمَآ
"In both of them
إِثْمٌ
(is) a sin
كَبِيرٌ
great
وَمَنَٰفِعُ
and (some) benefits
لِلنَّاسِ
for [the] people
وَإِثْمُهُمَآ
But sin of both of them
أَكْبَرُ
(is) greater
مِن
than
نَّفْعِهِمَاۗ
(the) benefit of (the) two"
وَيَسْـَٔلُونَكَ
And they ask you
مَاذَا
what
يُنفِقُونَ
they (should) spend
قُلِ
Say
ٱلْعَفْوَۗ
"The surplus"
كَذَٰلِكَ
Thus
يُبَيِّنُ
makes clear
ٱللَّهُ
Allah
لَكُمُ
to you
ٱلْءَايَٰتِ
[the] Verses
لَعَلَّكُمْ
so that you may
تَتَفَكَّرُونَ
ponder

Yasaloonaka 'ani alkhamri waalmaysiri qul feehima ithmun kabeerun wamanafi'u lilnnasi waithmuhuma akbaru min naf'ihima wayasaloonaka matha yunfiqoona quli al'afwa kathalika yubayyinu Allahu lakumu alayati la'allakum tatafakkaroona

Sahih International:

They ask you about wine and gambling. Say, "In them is great sin and [yet, some] benefit for people. But their sin is greater than their benefit." And they ask you what they should spend. Say, "The excess [beyond needs]." Thus Allah makes clear to you the verses [of revelation] that you might give thought.

Surah [2] Al-Baqara : 266

اَيَوَدُّ اَحَدُكُمۡ اَنۡ تَكُوۡنَ لَهٗ جَنَّةٌ مِّنۡ نَّخِيۡلٍ وَّاَعۡنَابٍ تَجۡرِىۡ مِنۡ تَحۡتِهَا الۡاَنۡهٰرُۙ لَهٗ فِيۡهَا مِنۡ كُلِّ الثَّمَرٰتِۙ وَاَصَابَهُ الۡكِبَرُ وَلَهٗ ذُرِّيَّةٌ ضُعَفَآءُ ۖۚ فَاَصَابَهَاۤ اِعۡصَارٌ فِيۡهِ نَارٌ فَاحۡتَرَقَتۡ‌ؕ كَذٰلِكَ يُبَيِّنُ اللّٰهُ لَـكُمُ الۡاٰيٰتِ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تَتَفَكَّرُوۡنَ(البقرة :266)

أَيَوَدُّ
Would like
أَحَدُكُمْ
any of you
أَن
that
تَكُونَ
it be
لَهُۥ
for him
جَنَّةٌ
a garden
مِّن
of
نَّخِيلٍ
date-palms
وَأَعْنَابٍ
and grapevines
تَجْرِى
flowing
مِن
[from]
تَحْتِهَا
underneath it
ٱلْأَنْهَٰرُ
the rivers
لَهُۥ
for him
فِيهَا
in it
مِن
of
كُلِّ
all (kinds)
ٱلثَّمَرَٰتِ
(of) [the] fruits
وَأَصَابَهُ
and strikes him
ٱلْكِبَرُ
[the] old age
وَلَهُۥ
and [for] his
ذُرِّيَّةٌ
children
ضُعَفَآءُ
(are) weak
فَأَصَابَهَآ
then falls on it
إِعْصَارٌ
whirlwind
فِيهِ
in it
نَارٌ
(is) fire
فَٱحْتَرَقَتْۗ
then it is burnt
كَذَٰلِكَ
Thus
يُبَيِّنُ
makes clear
ٱللَّهُ
Allah
لَكُمُ
for you
ٱلْءَايَٰتِ
(His) Signs
لَعَلَّكُمْ
so that you may
تَتَفَكَّرُونَ
ponder

Ayawaddu ahadukum an takoona lahu jannatun min nakheelin waa'nabin tajree min tahtiha alanharu lahu feeha min kulli alththamarati waasabahu alkibaru walahu thurriyyatun du'afao faasabaha i'sarun feehi narun faihtaraqat kathalika yubayyinu Allahu lakumu alayati la'allakum tatafakkaroona

Sahih International:

Would one of you like to have a garden of palm trees and grapevines underneath which rivers flow in which he has from every fruit? But he is afflicted with old age and has weak offspring, and it is hit by a whirlwind containing fire and is burned. Thus does Allah make clear to you [His] verses that you might give thought.

Surah [3] Ali Imran : 191

الَّذِيۡنَ يَذۡكُرُوۡنَ اللّٰهَ قِيَامًا وَّقُعُوۡدًا وَّعَلٰى جُنُوۡبِهِمۡ وَيَتَفَكَّرُوۡنَ فِىۡ خَلۡقِ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالۡاَرۡضِ‌ۚ رَبَّنَا مَا خَلَقۡتَ هٰذَا بَاطِلًا ۚ سُبۡحٰنَكَ فَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ(آل عمران :191)

ٱلَّذِينَ
Those who
يَذْكُرُونَ
remember
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
قِيَٰمًا
standing
وَقُعُودًا
and sitting
وَعَلَىٰ
and on
جُنُوبِهِمْ
their sides
وَيَتَفَكَّرُونَ
and they reflect
فِى
on
خَلْقِ
(the) creation
ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ
(of) the heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضِ
and the earth
رَبَّنَا
"Our Lord
مَا
not
خَلَقْتَ
You have created
هَٰذَا
this
بَٰطِلًا
(in) vain
سُبْحَٰنَكَ
Glory be to You
فَقِنَا
so save us
عَذَابَ
(from the) punishment
ٱلنَّارِ
(of) the Fire

Allatheena yathkuroona Allaha qiyaman waqu'oodan wa'ala junoobihim wayatafakkaroona fee khalqi alssamawati waalardi rabbana ma khalaqta hatha batilan subhanaka faqina 'athaba alnnari

Sahih International:

Who remember Allah while standing or sitting or [lying] on their sides and give thought to the creation of the heavens and the earth, [saying], "Our Lord, You did not create this aimlessly; exalted are You [above such a thing]; then protect us from the punishment of the Fire.

Surah [6] Al-An'am : 50

قُلْ لَّاۤ اَقُوۡلُ لَـكُمۡ عِنۡدِىۡ خَزَآٮِٕنُ اللّٰهِ وَلَاۤ اَعۡلَمُ الۡغَيۡبَ وَلَاۤ اَقُوۡلُ لَـكُمۡ اِنِّىۡ مَلَكٌ‌ ۚ اِنۡ اَتَّبِعُ اِلَّا مَا يُوۡحٰٓى اِلَىَّ‌ ؕ قُلۡ هَلۡ يَسۡتَوِى الۡاَعۡمٰى وَالۡبَصِيۡرُ‌ ؕ اَفَلَا تَتَفَكَّرُوۡنَ(الأنعام :50)

قُل
Say
لَّآ
"Not
أَقُولُ
"(do) I say
لَكُمْ
to you
عِندِى
(that) with me
خَزَآئِنُ
(are the) treasures
ٱللَّهِ
(of) Allah
وَلَآ
and not
أَعْلَمُ
(that) I know
ٱلْغَيْبَ
the unseen
وَلَآ
and not
أَقُولُ
I say
لَكُمْ
to you
إِنِّى
that I (am)
مَلَكٌۖ
an Angel
إِنْ
Not
أَتَّبِعُ
(do) I follow
إِلَّا
except
مَا
what
يُوحَىٰٓ
is revealed
إِلَىَّۚ
to me"
قُلْ
Say
هَلْ
"Can
يَسْتَوِى
be equal
ٱلْأَعْمَىٰ
the blind
وَٱلْبَصِيرُۚ
and the seeing one?"
أَفَلَا
Then will not
تَتَفَكَّرُونَ
you give thought?

Qul la aqoolu lakum 'indee khazainu Allahi wala a'lamu alghayba wala aqoolu lakum innee malakun in attabi'u illa ma yooha ilayya qul hal yastawee ala'ma waalbaseeru afala tatafakkaroona

Sahih International:

Say, [O Muhammad], "I do not tell you that I have the depositories [containing the provision] of Allah or that I know the unseen, nor do I tell you that I am an angel. I only follow what is revealed to me." Say, "Is the blind equivalent to the seeing? Then will you not give thought?"

Tafsir (More Translations)
Surah [7] Al-A'raf : 176

وَلَوۡ شِئۡنَا لَرَفَعۡنٰهُ بِهَا وَلٰـكِنَّهٗۤ اَخۡلَدَ اِلَى الۡاَرۡضِ وَاتَّبَعَ هَوٰٮهُ‌ ۚ فَمَثَلُهٗ كَمَثَلِ الۡـكَلۡبِ‌ ۚ اِنۡ تَحۡمِلۡ عَلَيۡهِ يَلۡهَثۡ اَوۡ تَتۡرُكۡهُ يَلۡهَث ‌ؕ ذٰ لِكَ مَثَلُ الۡقَوۡمِ الَّذِيۡنَ كَذَّبُوۡا بِاٰيٰتِنَا‌ ۚ فَاقۡصُصِ الۡقَصَصَ لَعَلَّهُمۡ يَتَفَكَّرُوۡنَ(الأعراف :176)

وَلَوْ
And if
شِئْنَا
We willed
لَرَفَعْنَٰهُ
surely We (could) have raised him
بِهَا
with these
وَلَٰكِنَّهُۥٓ
[and] but he
أَخْلَدَ
adhered
إِلَى
to
ٱلْأَرْضِ
the earth
وَٱتَّبَعَ
and followed
هَوَىٰهُۚ
his (vain) desires
فَمَثَلُهُۥ
So his example
كَمَثَلِ
(is) like (the) example
ٱلْكَلْبِ
(of) the dog
إِن
if
تَحْمِلْ
you attack
عَلَيْهِ
[on] him
يَلْهَثْ
he lolls out his tongue
أَوْ
or
تَتْرُكْهُ
if you leave him
يَلْهَثۚ
he lolls out his tongue
ذَّٰلِكَ
That
مَثَلُ
(is the) example
ٱلْقَوْمِ
(of) the people
ٱلَّذِينَ
who
كَذَّبُوا۟
denied
بِـَٔايَٰتِنَاۚ
[in] Our Signs
فَٱقْصُصِ
So relate
ٱلْقَصَصَ
the story
لَعَلَّهُمْ
so that they may
يَتَفَكَّرُونَ
reflect

Walaw shina larafa'nahu biha walakinnahu akhlada ila alardi waittaba'a hawahu famathaluhu kamathali alkalbi in tahmil 'alayhi yalhath aw tatrukhu yalhath thalika mathalu alqawmi allatheena kaththaboo biayatina faoqsusi alqasasa la'allahum yatafakkaroona

Sahih International:

And if We had willed, we could have elevated him thereby, but he adhered [instead] to the earth and followed his own desire. So his example is like that of the dog; if you chase him, he pants, or if you leave him, he [still] pants. That is the example of the people who denied Our signs. So relate the stories that perhaps they will give thought.

Tafsir (More Translations)
Surah [7] Al-A'raf : 184

اَوَلَمۡ يَتَفَكَّرُوۡا‌ ۗ مَا بِصَاحِبِهِمۡ مِّنۡ جِنَّةٍ‌ؕ اِنۡ هُوَ اِلَّا نَذِيۡرٌ مُّبِيۡنٌ(الأعراف :184)

أَوَلَمْ
Do not
يَتَفَكَّرُوا۟ۗ
they reflect?
مَا
Not
بِصَاحِبِهِم
in their companion
مِّن
[of]
جِنَّةٍۚ
(is) any madness
إِنْ
Not
هُوَ
he
إِلَّا
(is) but
نَذِيرٌ
a warner
مُّبِينٌ
clear

Awalam yatafakkaroo ma bisahibihim min jinnatin in huwa illa natheerun mubeenun

Sahih International:

Then do they not give thought? There is in their companion [Muhammad] no madness. He is not but a clear warner.

Tafsir (More Translations)
Surah [10] Yunus : 24

اِنَّمَا مَثَلُ الۡحَيٰوةِ الدُّنۡيَا كَمَآءٍ اَنۡزَلۡنٰهُ مِنَ السَّمَآءِ فَاخۡتَلَطَ بِهٖ نَبَاتُ الۡاَرۡضِ مِمَّا يَاۡكُلُ النَّاسُ وَالۡاَنۡعَامُؕ حَتّٰۤى اِذَاۤ اَخَذَتِ الۡاَرۡضُ زُخۡرُفَهَا وَازَّيَّنَتۡ وَظَنَّ اَهۡلُهَاۤ اَنَّهُمۡ قٰدِرُوۡنَ عَلَيۡهَاۤ ۙ اَتٰٮهَاۤ اَمۡرُنَا لَيۡلًا اَوۡ نَهَارًا فَجَعَلۡنٰهَا حَصِيۡدًا كَاَنۡ لَّمۡ تَغۡنَ بِالۡاَمۡسِ‌ ؕ كَذٰلِكَ نُـفَصِّلُ الۡاٰيٰتِ لِقَوۡمٍ يَّتَفَكَّرُوۡنَ(يونس :24)

إِنَّمَا
Only
مَثَلُ
(the) example
ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ
(of) the life
ٱلدُّنْيَا
(of) the world
كَمَآءٍ
(is) like (the) water
أَنزَلْنَٰهُ
which We sent down
مِنَ
from
ٱلسَّمَآءِ
the sky
فَٱخْتَلَطَ
so absorbs
بِهِۦ
[with] it
نَبَاتُ
(the) plants
ٱلْأَرْضِ
(of) the earth
مِمَّا
from which
يَأْكُلُ
eat
ٱلنَّاسُ
the men
وَٱلْأَنْعَٰمُ
and the cattle
حَتَّىٰٓ
until
إِذَآ
when
أَخَذَتِ
takes
ٱلْأَرْضُ
the earth
زُخْرُفَهَا
its adornment
وَٱزَّيَّنَتْ
and is beautified
وَظَنَّ
and think
أَهْلُهَآ
its people
أَنَّهُمْ
that they
قَٰدِرُونَ
have the power
عَلَيْهَآ
over it
أَتَىٰهَآ
comes (to) it
أَمْرُنَا
Our command
لَيْلًا
(by) night
أَوْ
or
نَهَارًا
(by) day
فَجَعَلْنَٰهَا
and We make it
حَصِيدًا
a harvest clean-mown
كَأَن
as if
لَّمْ
not
تَغْنَ
it had flourished
بِٱلْأَمْسِۚ
yesterday
كَذَٰلِكَ
Thus
نُفَصِّلُ
We explain
ٱلْءَايَٰتِ
the Signs
لِقَوْمٍ
for a people
يَتَفَكَّرُونَ
who reflect

Innama mathalu alhayati alddunya kamain anzalnahu mina alssamai faikhtalata bihi nabatu alardi mimma yakulu alnnasu waalan'amu hatta itha akhathati alardu zukhrufaha waizzayyanat wathanna ahluha annahum qadiroona 'alayha ataha amruna laylan aw naharan faja'alnaha haseedan kaan lam taghna bialamsi kathalika nufassilu alayati liqawmin yatafakkaroona

Sahih International:

The example of [this] worldly life is but like rain which We have sent down from the sky that the plants of the earth absorb - [those] from which men and livestock eat - until, when the earth has taken on its adornment and is beautified and its people suppose that they have capability over it, there comes to it Our command by night or by day, and We make it as a harvest, as if it had not flourished yesterday. Thus do We explain in detail the signs for a people who give thought.

Tafsir (More Translations)
Surah [13] Ar-Ra'd : 3

وَهُوَ الَّذِىۡ مَدَّ الۡاَرۡضَ وَجَعَلَ فِيۡهَا رَوَاسِىَ وَاَنۡهٰرًا‌ ؕ وَمِنۡ كُلِّ الثَّمَرٰتِ جَعَلَ فِيۡهَا زَوۡجَيۡنِ اثۡنَيۡنِ‌ يُغۡشِى الَّيۡلَ النَّهَارَ‌ ؕ اِنَّ فِىۡ ذٰ لِكَ لَاٰيٰتٍ لِّـقَوۡمٍ يَّتَفَكَّرُوۡنَ(الرعد :3)

وَهُوَ
And He
ٱلَّذِى
(is) the One Who
مَدَّ
spread
ٱلْأَرْضَ
the earth
وَجَعَلَ
and placed
فِيهَا
in it
رَوَٰسِىَ
firm mountains
وَأَنْهَٰرًاۖ
and rivers
وَمِن
and from
كُلِّ
all
ٱلثَّمَرَٰتِ
(of) the fruits
جَعَلَ
He made
فِيهَا
in it
زَوْجَيْنِ
pairs
ٱثْنَيْنِۖ
two
يُغْشِى
He covers
ٱلَّيْلَ
the night
ٱلنَّهَارَۚ
(with) the day
إِنَّ
Indeed
فِى
in
ذَٰلِكَ
that
لَءَايَٰتٍ
surely (are) Signs
لِّقَوْمٍ
for a people
يَتَفَكَّرُونَ
who ponder

Wahuwa allathee madda alarda waja'ala feeha rawasiya waanharan wamin kulli alththamarati ja'ala feeha zawjayni ithnayni yughshee allayla alnnahara inna fee thalika laayatin liqawmin yatafakkaroona

Sahih International:

And it is He who spread the earth and placed therein firmly set mountains and rivers; and from all of the fruits He made therein two mates; He causes the night to cover the day. Indeed in that are signs for a people who give thought.

Surah [16] An-Nahl : 11

يُنۡۢبِتُ لَـكُمۡ بِهِ الزَّرۡعَ وَالزَّيۡتُوۡنَ وَالنَّخِيۡلَ وَالۡاَعۡنَابَ وَمِنۡ كُلِّ الثَّمَرٰتِ‌ؕ اِنَّ فِىۡ ذٰ لِكَ لَاٰيَةً لِّـقَوۡمٍ يَّتَفَكَّرُوۡنَ(النحل :11)

يُنۢبِتُ
He causes to grow
لَكُم
for you
بِهِ
with it
ٱلزَّرْعَ
the crops
وَٱلزَّيْتُونَ
and the olives
وَٱلنَّخِيلَ
and the date-palms
وَٱلْأَعْنَٰبَ
and the grapes
وَمِن
and of
كُلِّ
every kind
ٱلثَّمَرَٰتِۗ
(of) fruits
إِنَّ
Indeed
فِى
in
ذَٰلِكَ
that
لَءَايَةً
surely (is) a sign
لِّقَوْمٍ
for a people
يَتَفَكَّرُونَ
who reflect

Yunbitu lakum bihi alzzar'a waalzzaytoona waalnnakheela waala'naba wamin kulli alththamarati inna fee thalika laayatan liqawmin yatafakkaroona

Sahih International:

He causes to grow for you thereby the crops, olives, palm trees, grapevines, and from all the fruits. Indeed in that is a sign for a people who give thought.

Surah [16] An-Nahl : 43

وَمَاۤ اَرۡسَلۡنَا مِنۡ قَبۡلِكَ اِلَّا رِجَالًا نُّوۡحِىۡۤ اِلَيۡهِمۡ‌ فَسۡـــَٔلُوۡۤا اَهۡلَ الذِّكۡرِ اِنۡ كُنۡتُمۡ لَا تَعۡلَمُوۡنَۙ‏(النحل :43)

وَمَآ
And not
أَرْسَلْنَا
We sent
مِن
before you
قَبْلِكَ
before you
إِلَّا
except
رِجَالًا
men
نُّوحِىٓ
We revealed
إِلَيْهِمْۚ
to them
فَسْـَٔلُوٓا۟
so ask
أَهْلَ
(the) people
ٱلذِّكْرِ
(of) the Reminder
إِن
if
كُنتُمْ
you
لَا
(do) not
تَعْلَمُونَ
know

Wama arsalna min qablika illa rijalan noohee ilayhim faisaloo ahla alththikri in kuntum la ta'lamoona

Sahih International:

And We sent not before you except men to whom We revealed [Our message]. So ask the people of the message if you do not know.
