Surah [24] An-Nur : 11

اِنَّ الَّذِيۡنَ جَآءُوۡ بِالۡاِفۡكِ عُصۡبَةٌ مِّنۡكُمۡ‌ ؕ لَا تَحۡسَبُوۡهُ شَرًّا لَّـكُمۡ‌ ؕ بَلۡ هُوَ خَيۡرٌ لَّـكُمۡ‌ ؕ لِكُلِّ امۡرِىٴٍ مِّنۡهُمۡ مَّا اكۡتَسَبَ مِنَ الۡاِثۡمِ‌ ۚ وَالَّذِىۡ تَوَلّٰى كِبۡرَهٗ مِنۡهُمۡ لَهٗ عَذَابٌ عَظِيۡمٌ(النور :11)

إِنَّ
Indeed
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
جَآءُو
brought
بِٱلْإِفْكِ
the lie
عُصْبَةٌ
(are) a group
مِّنكُمْۚ
among you
لَا
(Do) not
تَحْسَبُوهُ
think it
شَرًّا
bad
لَّكُمۖ
for you
بَلْ
nay
هُوَ
it
خَيْرٌ
(is) good
لَّكُمْۚ
for you
لِكُلِّ
For every
ٱمْرِئٍ
person
مِّنْهُم
among them
مَّا
(is) what
ٱكْتَسَبَ
he earned
مِنَ
of
ٱلْإِثْمِۚ
the sin
وَٱلَّذِى
and the one who
تَوَلَّىٰ
took upon himself a greater share of it
كِبْرَهُۥ
took upon himself a greater share of it
مِنْهُمْ
among them
لَهُۥ
for him
عَذَابٌ
(is) a punishment
عَظِيمٌ
great

Inna allatheena jaoo bialifki 'usbatun minkum la tahsaboohu sharran lakum bal huwa khayrun lakum likulli imriin minhum ma iktasaba mina alithmi waallathee tawalla kibrahu minhum lahu 'athabun 'atheemun

Sahih International:

Indeed, those who came with falsehood are a group among you. Do not think it bad for you; rather it is good for you. For every person among them is what [punishment] he has earned from the sin, and he who took upon himself the greater portion thereof - for him is a great punishment.

Surah [24] An-Nur : 12

لَوۡلَاۤ اِذۡ سَمِعۡتُمُوۡهُ ظَنَّ الۡمُؤۡمِنُوۡنَ وَالۡمُؤۡمِنٰتُ بِاَنۡفُسِهِمۡ خَيۡرًاۙ وَّقَالُوۡا هٰذَاۤ اِفۡكٌ مُّبِيۡنٌ‏(النور :12)

لَّوْلَآ
Why not
إِذْ
when
سَمِعْتُمُوهُ
you heard it
ظَنَّ
think
ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ
the believing men
وَٱلْمُؤْمِنَٰتُ
and the believing women
بِأَنفُسِهِمْ
good of themselves
خَيْرًا
good of themselves
وَقَالُوا۟
and say
هَٰذَآ
"This
إِفْكٌ
(is) a lie
مُّبِينٌ
clear?"

Lawla ith sami'tumoohu thanna almuminoona waalmuminatu bianfusihim khayran waqaloo hatha ifkun mubeenun

Sahih International:

Why, when you heard it, did not the believing men and believing women think good of one another and say, "This is an obvious falsehood"?

Surah [24] An-Nur : 13

لَوۡلَا جَآءُوۡ عَلَيۡهِ بِاَرۡبَعَةِ شُهَدَآءَ‌ ۚ فَاِذۡ لَمۡ يَاۡتُوۡا بِالشُّهَدَآءِ فَاُولٰٓٮِٕكَ عِنۡدَ اللّٰهِ هُمُ الۡـكٰذِبُوۡنَ‏(النور :13)

لَّوْلَا
Why (did) not
جَآءُو
they bring
عَلَيْهِ
for it
بِأَرْبَعَةِ
four
شُهَدَآءَۚ
witnesses?
فَإِذْ
Then when
لَمْ
not
يَأْتُوا۟
they brought
بِٱلشُّهَدَآءِ
the witnesses
فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ
then those
عِندَ
near Allah
ٱللَّهِ
near Allah
هُمُ
they
ٱلْكَٰذِبُونَ
(are) the liars

Lawla jaoo 'alayhi biarba'ati shuhadaa faith lam yatoo bialshshuhadai faolaika 'inda Allahi humu alkathiboona

Sahih International:

Why did they [who slandered] not produce for it four witnesses? And when they do not produce the witnesses, then it is they, in the sight of Allah, who are the liars.

Surah [24] An-Nur : 14

وَلَوۡلَا فَضۡلُ اللّٰهِ عَلَيۡكُمۡ وَرَحۡمَتُهٗ فِى الدُّنۡيَا وَالۡاٰخِرَةِ لَمَسَّكُمۡ فِىۡ مَاۤ اَفَضۡتُمۡ فِيۡهِ عَذَابٌ عَظِيۡمٌ‌(النور :14)

وَلَوْلَا
And if not
فَضْلُ
(for the) Grace
ٱللَّهِ
(of) Allah
عَلَيْكُمْ
upon you
وَرَحْمَتُهُۥ
and His Mercy
فِى
in
ٱلدُّنْيَا
the world
وَٱلْءَاخِرَةِ
and the Hereafter
لَمَسَّكُمْ
surely would have touched you
فِى
in
مَآ
what
أَفَضْتُمْ
you had rushed glibly
فِيهِ
concerning it
عَذَابٌ
a punishment
عَظِيمٌ
great

Walawla fadlu Allahi 'alaykum warahmatuhu fee alddunya waalakhirati lamassakum fee ma afadtum feehi 'athabun 'atheemun

Sahih International:

And if it had not been for the favor of Allah upon you and His mercy in this world and the Hereafter, you would have been touched for that [lie] in which you were involved by a great punishment

Surah [24] An-Nur : 15

اِذۡ تَلَـقَّوۡنَهٗ بِاَ لۡسِنَتِكُمۡ وَتَقُوۡلُوۡنَ بِاَ فۡوَاهِكُمۡ مَّا لَـيۡسَ لَـكُمۡ بِهٖ عِلۡمٌ وَّتَحۡسَبُوۡنَهٗ هَيِّنًا ‌ ۖ وَّهُوَ عِنۡدَ اللّٰهِ عَظِيۡمٌ(النور :15)

إِذْ
When
تَلَقَّوْنَهُۥ
you received it
بِأَلْسِنَتِكُمْ
with your tongues
وَتَقُولُونَ
and you said
بِأَفْوَاهِكُم
with your mouths
مَّا
what
لَيْسَ
not
لَكُم
for you
بِهِۦ
of it
عِلْمٌ
any knowledge
وَتَحْسَبُونَهُۥ
and you thought it
هَيِّنًا
(was) insignificant
وَهُوَ
while it
عِندَ
(was) near Allah
ٱللَّهِ
(was) near Allah
عَظِيمٌ
great

Ith talaqqawnahu bialsinatikum wataqooloona biafwahikum ma laysa lakum bihi 'ilmun watahsaboonahu hayyinan wahuwa 'inda Allahi 'atheemun

Sahih International:

When you received it with your tongues and said with your mouths that of which you had no knowledge and thought it was insignificant while it was, in the sight of Allah, tremendous.

Surah [24] An-Nur : 16

وَ لَوۡلَاۤ اِذۡ سَمِعۡتُمُوۡهُ قُلۡتُمۡ مَّا يَكُوۡنُ لَـنَاۤ اَنۡ نَّـتَكَلَّمَ بِهٰذَ ا ‌ۖ سُبۡحٰنَكَ هٰذَا بُهۡتَانٌ عَظِيۡمٌ(النور :16)

وَلَوْلَآ
And why not
إِذْ
when
سَمِعْتُمُوهُ
you heard it
قُلْتُم
you said
مَّا
"Not
يَكُونُ
it is
لَنَآ
for us
أَن
that
نَّتَكَلَّمَ
we speak
بِهَٰذَا
of this
سُبْحَٰنَكَ
Glory be to You!
هَٰذَا
This
بُهْتَٰنٌ
(is) a slander
عَظِيمٌ
great?"

Walawla ith sami'tumoohu qultum ma yakoonu lana an natakallama bihatha subhanaka hatha buhtanun 'atheemun

Sahih International:

And why, when you heard it, did you not say, "It is not for us to speak of this. Exalted are You, [O Allah ]; this is a great slander"?

Surah [24] An-Nur : 17

يَعِظُكُمُ اللّٰهُ اَنۡ تَعُوۡدُوۡا لِمِثۡلِهٖۤ اَبَدًا اِنۡ كُنۡتُمۡ مُّؤۡمِنِيۡنَ‌ۚ(النور :17)

يَعِظُكُمُ
Allah warns you
ٱللَّهُ
Allah warns you
أَن
that
تَعُودُوا۟
you return
لِمِثْلِهِۦٓ
(to the) like of it
أَبَدًا
ever
إِن
if
كُنتُم
you are
مُّؤْمِنِينَ
believers

Ya'ithukumu Allahu an ta'oodoo limithlihi abadan in kuntum mumineena

Sahih International:

Allah warns you against returning to the likes of this [conduct], ever, if you should be believers.

Surah [24] An-Nur : 23

اِنَّ الَّذِيۡنَ يَرۡمُوۡنَ الۡمُحۡصَنٰتِ الۡغٰفِلٰتِ الۡمُؤۡمِنٰتِ لُعِنُوۡا فِى الدُّنۡيَا وَالۡاٰخِرَةِۖ وَلَهُمۡ عَذَابٌ عَظِيۡمٌۙ(النور :23)

إِنَّ
Indeed
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
يَرْمُونَ
accuse
ٱلْمُحْصَنَٰتِ
the chaste women
ٱلْغَٰفِلَٰتِ
the unaware women
ٱلْمُؤْمِنَٰتِ
(and) the believing women
لُعِنُوا۟
are cursed
فِى
in
ٱلدُّنْيَا
the world
وَٱلْءَاخِرَةِ
and the Hereafter
وَلَهُمْ
And for them
عَذَابٌ
(is) a punishment
عَظِيمٌ
great

Inna allatheena yarmoona almuhsanati alghafilati almuminati lu'inoo fee alddunya waalakhirati walahum 'athabun 'atheemun

Sahih International:

Indeed, those who [falsely] accuse chaste, unaware and believing women are cursed in this world and the Hereafter; and they will have a great punishment

Surah [24] An-Nur : 24

يَّوۡمَ تَشۡهَدُ عَلَيۡهِمۡ اَلۡسِنَـتُهُمۡ وَاَيۡدِيۡهِمۡ وَاَرۡجُلُهُمۡ بِمَا كَانُوۡا يَعۡمَلُوۡنَ(النور :24)

يَوْمَ
(On a) Day
تَشْهَدُ
will bear witness
عَلَيْهِمْ
against them
أَلْسِنَتُهُمْ
their tongues
وَأَيْدِيهِمْ
and their hands
وَأَرْجُلُهُم
and their feet
بِمَا
for what
كَانُوا۟
they used
يَعْمَلُونَ
(to) do

Yawma tashhadu 'alayhim alsinatuhum waaydeehim waarjuluhum bima kanoo ya'maloona

Sahih International:

On a Day when their tongues, their hands and their feet will bear witness against them as to what they used to do.

Tafsir (More Translations)
Surah [24] An-Nur : 25

يَوۡمَٮِٕذٍ يُّوَفِّيۡهِمُ اللّٰهُ دِيۡنَهُمُ الۡحَـقَّ وَيَعۡلَمُوۡنَ اَنَّ اللّٰهَ هُوَ الۡحَـقُّ الۡمُبِيۡنُ(النور :25)

يَوْمَئِذٍ
That Day
يُوَفِّيهِمُ
Allah will pay them in full
ٱللَّهُ
Allah will pay them in full
دِينَهُمُ
their recompense
ٱلْحَقَّ
the due
وَيَعْلَمُونَ
and they will know
أَنَّ
that
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
هُوَ
He
ٱلْحَقُّ
(is) the Truth
ٱلْمُبِينُ
the Manifest

Yawmaithin yuwaffeehimu Allahu deenahumu alhaqqa waya'lamoona anna Allaha huwa alhaqqu almubeenu

Sahih International:

That Day, Allah will pay them in full their deserved recompense, and they will know that it is Allah who is the perfect in justice.
