وَاِذۡ قُلۡنَا لَـكَ اِنَّ رَبَّكَ اَحَاطَ بِالنَّاسِ ؕ وَمَا جَعَلۡنَا الرُّءۡيَا الَّتِىۡۤ اَرَيۡنٰكَ اِلَّا فِتۡنَةً لِّلنَّاسِ وَ الشَّجَرَةَ الۡمَلۡعُوۡنَةَ فِى الۡقُرۡاٰنِ ؕ وَنُخَوِّفُهُمۡۙ فَمَا يَزِيۡدُهُمۡ اِلَّا طُغۡيَانًا كَبِيۡرًا(الإسراء :60)
Waith qulna laka inna rabbaka ahata bialnnasi wama ja'alna alrruya allatee araynaka illa fitnatan lilnnasi waalshshajarata almal'oonata fee alqurani wanukhawwifuhum fama yazeeduhum illa tughyanan kabeeran
Sahih International:
And [remember, O Muhammad], when We told you, "Indeed, your Lord has encompassed the people." And We did not make the sight which We showed you except as a trial for the people, as was the accursed tree [mentioned] in the Qur'an. And We threaten them, but it increases them not except in great transgression.
اَذٰ لِكَ خَيۡرٌ نُّزُلًا اَمۡ شَجَرَةُ الزَّقُّوۡمِ(الصافات :62)
Athalika khayrun nuzulan am shajaratu alzzaqqoomi
Sahih International:
Is Paradise a better accommodation or the tree of zaqqum?
اِنَّا جَعَلۡنٰهَا فِتۡنَةً لِّلظّٰلِمِيۡنَ(الصافات :63)
Inna ja'alnaha fitnatan lilththalimeena
Sahih International:
Indeed, We have made it a torment for the wrongdoers.
اِنَّهَا شَجَرَةٌ تَخۡرُجُ فِىۡۤ اَصۡلِ الۡجَحِيۡمِۙ(الصافات :64)
Innaha shajaratun takhruju fee asli aljaheemi
Sahih International:
Indeed, it is a tree issuing from the bottom of the Hellfire,
طَلۡعُهَا كَاَنَّهٗ رُءُوۡسُ الشَّيٰطِيۡنِ(الصافات :65)
Tal'uha kaannahu ruoosu alshshayateeni
Sahih International:
Its emerging fruit as if it was heads of the devils.
فَاِنَّهُمۡ لَاٰكِلُوۡنَ مِنۡهَا فَمٰلِــُٔــوۡنَ مِنۡهَا الۡبُطُوۡنَ(الصافات :66)
Fainnahum laakiloona minha famalioona minha albutoona
Sahih International:
And indeed, they will eat from it and fill with it their bellies.
اِنَّ شَجَرَتَ الزَّقُّوۡمِۙ(الدخان :43)
Inna shajarata alzzaqqoomi
Sahih International:
Indeed, the tree of zaqqum
طَعَامُ الۡاَثِيۡمِ(الدخان :44)
Ta'amu alatheemi
Sahih International:
Is food for the sinful.
كَالۡمُهۡلِ ۛۚ يَغۡلِىۡ فِى الۡبُطُوۡنِۙ(الدخان :45)
Kaalmuhli yaghlee fee albutooni
Sahih International:
Like murky oil, it boils within bellies
كَغَلۡىِ الۡحَمِيۡمِ(الدخان :46)
Kaghalyi alhameemi
Sahih International:
Like the boiling of scalding water.
