Surah [6] Al-An'am : 138

وَقَالُوۡا هٰذِهٖۤ اَنۡعَامٌ وَّحَرۡثٌ حِجۡرٌ ‌ۖ لَّا يَطۡعَمُهَاۤ اِلَّا مَنۡ نَّشَآءُ بِزَعۡمِهِمۡ وَاَنۡعَامٌ حُرِّمَتۡ ظُهُوۡرُهَا وَاَنۡعَامٌ لَّا يَذۡكُرُوۡنَ اسۡمَ اللّٰهِ عَلَيۡهَا افۡتِرَآءً عَلَيۡهِ ‌ؕ سَيَجۡزِيۡهِمۡ بِمَا كَانُوۡا يَفۡتَرُوۡنَ(الأنعام :138)

وَقَالُوا۟
And they say
هَٰذِهِۦٓ
"These
أَنْعَٰمٌ
cattle
وَحَرْثٌ
and crops
حِجْرٌ
(are) forbidden
لَّا
no (one)
يَطْعَمُهَآ
can eat them
إِلَّا
except
مَن
whom
نَّشَآءُ
we will"
بِزَعْمِهِمْ
by their claim
وَأَنْعَٰمٌ
And cattle
حُرِّمَتْ
forbidden
ظُهُورُهَا
(are) their backs
وَأَنْعَٰمٌ
and cattle
لَّا
not
يَذْكُرُونَ
they mention
ٱسْمَ
(the) name
ٱللَّهِ
(of) Allah
عَلَيْهَا
on it
ٱفْتِرَآءً
(as) an invention
عَلَيْهِۚ
against Him
سَيَجْزِيهِم
He will recompense them
بِمَا
for what
كَانُوا۟
they used to
يَفْتَرُونَ
invent

Waqaloo hathihi an'amun waharthun hijrun la yat'amuha illa man nashao biza'mihim waan'amun hurrimat thuhooruha waan'amun la yathkuroona isma Allahi 'alayha iftiraan 'alayhi sayajzeehim bima kanoo yaftaroona

Sahih International:

And they say, "These animals and crops are forbidden; no one may eat from them except whom we will," by their claim. And there are those [camels] whose backs are forbidden [by them] and those upon which the name of Allah is not mentioned - [all of this] an invention of untruth about Him. He will punish them for what they were inventing.

Surah [6] Al-An'am : 146

وَعَلَى الَّذِيۡنَ هَادُوۡا حَرَّمۡنَا كُلَّ ذِىۡ ظُفُرٍ‌‌ ۚ وَمِنَ الۡبَقَرِ وَالۡغَـنَمِ حَرَّمۡنَا عَلَيۡهِمۡ شُحُوۡمَهُمَاۤ اِلَّا مَا حَمَلَتۡ ظُهُوۡرُهُمَاۤ اَوِ الۡحَـوَايَاۤ اَوۡ مَا اخۡتَلَطَ بِعَظۡمٍ‌ ؕ ذٰ لِكَ جَزَيۡنٰهُمۡ بِبَـغۡيِهِمۡ‌‌ ۖ وَاِنَّا لَصٰدِقُوۡنَ(الأنعام :146)

وَعَلَى
And to
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
هَادُوا۟
are Jews
حَرَّمْنَا
We forbade
كُلَّ
every
ذِى
(animal) with
ظُفُرٍۖ
claws
وَمِنَ
and of
ٱلْبَقَرِ
the cows
وَٱلْغَنَمِ
and the sheep
حَرَّمْنَا
We forbade
عَلَيْهِمْ
to them
شُحُومَهُمَآ
their fat
إِلَّا
except
مَا
what
حَمَلَتْ
carried
ظُهُورُهُمَآ
their backs
أَوِ
or
ٱلْحَوَايَآ
the entrails
أَوْ
or
مَا
what
ٱخْتَلَطَ
(is) joined
بِعَظْمٍۚ
with the bone
ذَٰلِكَ
That
جَزَيْنَٰهُم
(is) their recompense
بِبَغْيِهِمْۖ
for their rebellion
وَإِنَّا
And indeed, We
لَصَٰدِقُونَ
[surely] are truthful

Wa'ala allatheena hadoo harramna kulla thee thufurin wamina albaqari waalghanami harramna 'alayhim shuhoomahuma illa ma hamalat thuhooruhuma awi alhawaya aw ma ikhtalata bi'athmin thalika jazaynahum bibaghyihim wainna lasadiqoona

Sahih International:

And to those who are Jews We prohibited every animal of uncloven hoof; and of the cattle and the sheep We prohibited to them their fat, except what adheres to their backs or the entrails or what is joined with bone. [By] that We repaid them for their injustice. And indeed, We are truthful.

Surah [6] Al-An'am : 31

قَدۡ خَسِرَ الَّذِيۡنَ كَذَّبُوۡا بِلِقَآءِ اللّٰهِ‌ؕ حَتّٰٓى اِذَا جَآءَتۡهُمُ السَّاعَةُ بَغۡتَةً قَالُوۡا يٰحَسۡرَتَنَا عَلٰى مَا فَرَّطۡنَا فِيۡهَا ۙ وَهُمۡ يَحۡمِلُوۡنَ اَوۡزَارَهُمۡ عَلٰى ظُهُوۡرِهِمۡ‌ؕ اَلَا سَآءَ مَا يَزِرُوۡنَ(الأنعام :31)

قَدْ
Indeed
خَسِرَ
incurred loss
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
كَذَّبُوا۟
denied
بِلِقَآءِ
in (the) meeting
ٱللَّهِۖ
(with) Allah
حَتَّىٰٓ
until
إِذَا
when
جَآءَتْهُمُ
came to them
ٱلسَّاعَةُ
the Hour
بَغْتَةً
suddenly
قَالُوا۟
they said
يَٰحَسْرَتَنَا
"Oh! Our regret
عَلَىٰ
over
مَا
what
فَرَّطْنَا
we neglected
فِيهَا
concerning it"
وَهُمْ
while they
يَحْمِلُونَ
will bear
أَوْزَارَهُمْ
their burdens
عَلَىٰ
on
ظُهُورِهِمْۚ
their backs
أَلَا
Unquestionably!
سَآءَ
Evil
مَا
(is) what
يَزِرُونَ
they bear

Qad khasira allatheena kaththaboo biliqai Allahi hatta itha jaathumu alssa'atu baghtatan qaloo ya hasratana 'ala ma farratna feeha wahum yahmiloona awzarahum 'ala thuhoorihim ala saa ma yaziroona

Sahih International:

Those will have lost who deny the meeting with Allah, until when the Hour [of resurrection] comes upon them unexpectedly, they will say, "Oh, [how great is] our regret over what we neglected concerning it," while they bear their burdens on their backs. Unquestionably, evil is that which they bear.

Surah [9] At-Tawba : 35

يَّومَ يُحۡمٰى عَلَيۡهَا فِىۡ نَارِ جَهَـنَّمَ فَتُكۡوٰى بِهَا جِبَاهُهُمۡ وَجُنُوۡبُهُمۡ وَظُهُوۡرُهُمۡ‌ؕ هٰذَا مَا كَنَزۡتُمۡ لِاَنۡفُسِكُمۡ فَذُوۡقُوۡا مَا كُنۡتُمۡ تَكۡنِزُوۡنَ(التوبة :35)

يَوْمَ
(The) Day
يُحْمَىٰ
it will be heated [on it]
عَلَيْهَا
it will be heated [on it]
فِى
in
نَارِ
the Fire
جَهَنَّمَ
(of) Hell
فَتُكْوَىٰ
and will be branded
بِهَا
with it
جِبَاهُهُمْ
their foreheads
وَجُنُوبُهُمْ
and their flanks
وَظُهُورُهُمْۖ
and their backs
هَٰذَا
"This
مَا
(is) what
كَنَزْتُمْ
you hoarded
لِأَنفُسِكُمْ
for yourselves
فَذُوقُوا۟
so taste
مَا
what
كُنتُمْ
you used to
تَكْنِزُونَ
hoard"

Yawma yuhma 'alayha fee nari jahannama fatukwa biha jibahuhum wajunoobuhum wathuhooruhum hatha ma kanaztum lianfusikum fathooqoo ma kuntum taknizoona

Sahih International:

The Day when it will be heated in the fire of Hell and seared therewith will be their foreheads, their flanks, and their backs, [it will be said], "This is what you hoarded for yourselves, so taste what you used to hoard."

Surah [21] Al-Anbiya' : 39

لَوۡ يَعۡلَمُ الَّذِيۡنَ كَفَرُوۡا حِيۡنَ لَا يَكُفُّوۡنَ عَنۡ وُّجُوۡهِهِمُ النَّارَ وَلَا عَنۡ ظُهُوۡرِهِمۡ وَلَا هُمۡ يُنۡصَرُوۡنَ‏(الأنبياء :39)

لَوْ
If
يَعْلَمُ
knew
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
كَفَرُوا۟
disbelieved
حِينَ
(the) time
لَا
(when) not
يَكُفُّونَ
they will avert
عَن
from
وُجُوهِهِمُ
their faces
ٱلنَّارَ
the Fire
وَلَا
and not
عَن
from
ظُهُورِهِمْ
their backs
وَلَا
and not
هُمْ
they
يُنصَرُونَ
will be helped!

Law ya'lamu allatheena kafaroo heena la yakuffoona 'an wujoohihimu alnnara wala 'an thuhoorihim wala hum yunsaroona

Sahih International:

If those who disbelieved but knew the time when they will not avert the Fire from their faces or from their backs and they will not be aided...

Tafsir (More Translations)
Surah [43] Az-Zukhruf : 12

وَالَّذِىۡ خَلَقَ الۡاَزۡوَاجَ كُلَّهَا وَجَعَلَ لَكُمۡ مِّنَ الۡفُلۡكِ وَالۡاَنۡعَامِ مَا تَرۡكَبُوۡنَۙ‏(الزخرف :12)

وَٱلَّذِى
And the One Who
خَلَقَ
created
ٱلْأَزْوَٰجَ
the pairs
كُلَّهَا
all of them
وَجَعَلَ
and made
لَكُم
for you
مِّنَ
[of]
ٱلْفُلْكِ
the ships
وَٱلْأَنْعَٰمِ
and the cattle
مَا
what
تَرْكَبُونَ
you ride

Waallathee khalaqa alazwaja kullaha waja'ala lakum mina alfulki waalan'ami ma tarkaboona

Sahih International:

And who created the species, all of them, and has made for you of ships and animals those which you mount.

Surah [43] Az-Zukhruf : 13

لِتَسۡتَوٗا عَلٰى ظُهُوۡرِهٖ ثُمَّ تَذۡكُرُوۡا نِعۡمَةَ رَبِّكُمۡ اِذَا اسۡتَوَيۡتُمۡ عَلَيۡهِ وَتَقُوۡلُوۡا سُبۡحٰنَ الَّذِىۡ سَخَّرَ لَنَا هٰذَا وَمَا كُنَّا لَهٗ مُقۡرِنِيۡنَۙ‏(الزخرف :13)

لِتَسْتَوُۥا۟
That you may sit firmly
عَلَىٰ
on
ظُهُورِهِۦ
their backs
ثُمَّ
then
تَذْكُرُوا۟
remember
نِعْمَةَ
(the) favor
رَبِّكُمْ
(of) your Lord
إِذَا
when
ٱسْتَوَيْتُمْ
you sit firmly
عَلَيْهِ
on them
وَتَقُولُوا۟
and say
سُبْحَٰنَ
"Glory be (to)
ٱلَّذِى
the One Who
سَخَّرَ
has subjected
لَنَا
to us
هَٰذَا
this
وَمَا
and not
كُنَّا
we were
لَهُۥ
of it
مُقْرِنِينَ
capable

Litastawoo 'ala thuhoorihi thumma tathkuroo ni'mata rabbikum itha istawaytum 'alayhi wataqooloo subhana allathee sakhkhara lana hatha wama kunna lahu muqrineena

Sahih International:

That you may settle yourselves upon their backs and then remember the favor of your Lord when you have settled upon them and say. "Exalted is He who has subjected this to us, and we could not have [otherwise] subdued it.

Surah [48] Al-Fath : 16

قُلْ لِّلۡمُخَلَّفِيۡنَ مِنَ الۡاَعۡرَابِ سَتُدۡعَوۡنَ اِلٰى قَوۡمٍ اُولِىۡ بَاۡسٍ شَدِيۡدٍ تُقَاتِلُوۡنَهُمۡ اَوۡ يُسۡلِمُوۡنَ‌ ۚ فَاِنۡ تُطِيۡـعُوۡا يُـؤۡتِكُمُ اللّٰهُ اَجۡرًا حَسَنًا‌ ۚ وَاِنۡ تَتَـوَلَّوۡا كَمَا تَوَلَّيۡـتُمۡ مِّنۡ قَبۡلُ يُعَذِّبۡكُمۡ عَذَابًا اَ لِيۡمًا‏(الفتح :16)

قُل
Say
لِّلْمُخَلَّفِينَ
to those who remained behind
مِنَ
of
ٱلْأَعْرَابِ
the Bedouins
سَتُدْعَوْنَ
"You will be called
إِلَىٰ
to
قَوْمٍ
a people
أُو۟لِى
possessors of military might
بَأْسٍ
possessors of military might
شَدِيدٍ
great
تُقَٰتِلُونَهُمْ
you will fight them
أَوْ
or
يُسْلِمُونَۖ
they will submit
فَإِن
Then if
تُطِيعُوا۟
you obey
يُؤْتِكُمُ
Allah will give you
ٱللَّهُ
Allah will give you
أَجْرًا
a reward
حَسَنًاۖ
good
وَإِن
but if
تَتَوَلَّوْا۟
you turn away
كَمَا
as
تَوَلَّيْتُم
you turned away
مِّن
before
قَبْلُ
before
يُعَذِّبْكُمْ
He will punish you
عَذَابًا
(with) a punishment
أَلِيمًا
painful"

Qul lilmukhallafeena mina ala'rabi satud'awna ila qawmin olee basin shadeedin tuqatiloonahum aw yuslimoona fain tutee'oo yutikumu Allahu ajran hasanan wain tatawallaw kama tawallaytum min qablu yu'aththibkum 'athaban aleeman

Sahih International:

Say to those who remained behind of the bedouins, "You will be called to [face] a people of great military might; you may fight them, or they will submit. So if you obey, Allah will give you a good reward; but if you turn away as you turned away before, He will punish you with a painful punishment."

Surah [48] Al-Fath : 17

لَيۡسَ عَلَى الۡاَعۡمٰى حَرَجٌ وَّلَا عَلَى الۡاَعۡرَجِ حَرَجٌ وَّلَا عَلَى الۡمَرِيۡضِ حَرَجٌ‌ ؕ وَمَنۡ يُّطِعِ اللّٰهَ وَرَسُوۡلَهٗ يُدۡخِلۡهُ جَنّٰتٍ تَجۡرِىۡ مِنۡ تَحۡتِهَا الۡاَنۡهٰرُ‌‌ۚوَمَنۡ يَّتَوَلَّ يُعَذِّبۡهُ عَذَابًا اَلِيۡمًا‏(الفتح :17)

لَّيْسَ
Not is
عَلَى
upon
ٱلْأَعْمَىٰ
the blind
حَرَجٌ
any blame
وَلَا
and not
عَلَى
on
ٱلْأَعْرَجِ
the lame
حَرَجٌ
any blame
وَلَا
and not
عَلَى
on
ٱلْمَرِيضِ
the sick
حَرَجٌۗ
any blame
وَمَن
And whoever
يُطِعِ
obeys
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
وَرَسُولَهُۥ
and His Messenger
يُدْخِلْهُ
He will admit him
جَنَّٰتٍ
(to) Gardens
تَجْرِى
flow
مِن
from
تَحْتِهَا
underneath them
ٱلْأَنْهَٰرُۖ
the rivers
وَمَن
but whoever
يَتَوَلَّ
turns away
يُعَذِّبْهُ
He will punish him
عَذَابًا
(with) a punishment
أَلِيمًا
painful

Laysa 'ala ala'ma harajun wala 'ala ala'raji harajun wala 'ala almareedi harajun waman yuti'i Allaha warasoolahu yudkhilhu jannatin tajree min tahtiha alanharu waman yatawalla yu'aththibhu 'athaban aleeman

Sahih International:

There is not upon the blind any guilt or upon the lame any guilt or upon the ill any guilt [for remaining behind]. And whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger - He will admit him to gardens beneath which rivers flow; but whoever turns away - He will punish him with a painful punishment.

Surah [74] Al-Muddathir : 23

ثُمَّ اَدۡبَرَ وَاسۡتَكۡبَرَۙ(المدثر :23)

ثُمَّ
Then
أَدْبَرَ
he turned back
وَٱسْتَكْبَرَ
and was proud

Thumma adbara waistakbara

Sahih International:

Then he turned back and was arrogant
