أَرَءَيْتَ
Have you seen
إِن
if
كَانَ
he is
عَلَى
upon
ٱلْهُدَىٰٓ
[the] guidance
Ara-aita in kana 'alal hudaa
Have you seen if he is upon guidance
أَوْ
Or
أَمَرَ
he enjoins
بِٱلتَّقْوَىٰٓ
[of the] righteousness?
Au amara bit taqwaa
Or enjoins righteousness?
أَرَءَيْتَ
Have you seen
إِن
if
كَذَّبَ
he denies
وَتَوَلَّىٰٓ
and turns away?
Ara-aita in kaz zaba wa ta walla
Have you seen if he denies and turns away .
أَلَمْ
Does not
يَعْلَم
he know
بِأَنَّ
that
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
يَرَىٰ
sees?
Alam y'alam bi-an nal lahaa yaraa
Does he not know that Allah sees?
كَلَّا
Nay!
لَئِن
If
لَّمْ
not
يَنتَهِ
he desists
لَنَسْفَعًۢا
surely We will drag him
بِٱلنَّاصِيَةِ
by the forelock
Kalla la illam yantahi la nasfa'am bin nasiyah
No! If he does not desist, We will surely drag him by the forelock
نَاصِيَةٍ
A forelock
كَٰذِبَةٍ
lying
خَاطِئَةٍ
sinful
Nasiyatin kazi batin khaatiyah
A lying, sinning forelock.
فَلْيَدْعُ
Then let him call
نَادِيَهُۥ
his associates
Fal yad'u naadiyah
Then let him call his associates;
سَنَدْعُ
We will call
ٱلزَّبَانِيَةَ
the Angels of Hell
Sanad 'uz zabaaniyah
We will call the angels of Hell.
كَلَّا
Nay!
لَا
(Do) not
تُطِعْهُ
obey him
وَٱسْجُدْ
But prostrate
وَٱقْتَرِب۩
and draw near (to Allah)
Kalla; la tuti'hu wasjud waqtarib
No! Do not obey him. But prostrate and draw near [to Allah].
