مَا كَذَبَ الْفُؤَادُ مَا رَاٰى  ( النجم: ١١ )

ٱلْفُؤَادُ
the heart
مَا
what
raā
رَأَىٰٓ
it saw

The heart did not lie [about] what it saw.

Tafsir

اَفَتُمٰرُوْنَهٗ عَلٰى مَا يَرٰى   ( النجم: ١٢ )

afatumārūnahu
أَفَتُمَٰرُونَهُۥ
Then will you dispute with him
ʿalā
عَلَىٰ
about
مَا
what
yarā
يَرَىٰ
he saw?

So will you dispute with him over what he saw?

Tafsir

وَلَقَدْ رَاٰهُ نَزْلَةً اُخْرٰىۙ  ( النجم: ١٣ )

walaqad
وَلَقَدْ
And certainly
raāhu
رَءَاهُ
he saw him
nazlatan
نَزْلَةً
(in) descent
ukh'rā
أُخْرَىٰ
another

And he certainly saw him in another descent

Tafsir

عِنْدَ سِدْرَةِ الْمُنْتَهٰى   ( النجم: ١٤ )

ʿinda
عِندَ
Near
sid'rati
سِدْرَةِ
(the) Lote Tree
l-muntahā
ٱلْمُنتَهَىٰ
(of) the utmost boundary

At the Lote Tree of the Utmost Boundary –

Tafsir

عِنْدَهَا جَنَّةُ الْمَأْوٰىۗ   ( النجم: ١٥ )

ʿindahā
عِندَهَا
Near it
jannatu
جَنَّةُ
(is the) Garden
l-mawā
ٱلْمَأْوَىٰٓ
(of) Abode

Near it is the Garden of Refuge [i.e., Paradise] –

Tafsir

اِذْ يَغْشَى السِّدْرَةَ مَا يَغْشٰىۙ   ( النجم: ١٦ )

When
yaghshā
يَغْشَى
covered
l-sid'rata
ٱلسِّدْرَةَ
the Lote Tree
مَا
what
yaghshā
يَغْشَىٰ
covers

When there covered the Lote Tree that which covered [it].

Tafsir

مَا زَاغَ الْبَصَرُ وَمَا طَغٰى  ( النجم: ١٧ )

مَا
Not
zāgha
زَاغَ
swerved
l-baṣaru
ٱلْبَصَرُ
the sight
wamā
وَمَا
and not
ṭaghā
طَغَىٰ
it transgressed

The sight [of the Prophet (^)] did not swerve, nor did it transgress [its limit].

Tafsir

لَقَدْ رَاٰى مِنْ اٰيٰتِ رَبِّهِ الْكُبْرٰى  ( النجم: ١٨ )

laqad
لَقَدْ
Certainly
raā
رَأَىٰ
he saw
min
مِنْ
of
āyāti
ءَايَٰتِ
(the) Signs
rabbihi
رَبِّهِ
(of) his Lord
l-kub'rā
ٱلْكُبْرَىٰٓ
the Greatest

He certainly saw of the greatest signs of his Lord.

Tafsir

اَفَرَءَيْتُمُ اللّٰتَ وَالْعُزّٰى  ( النجم: ١٩ )

afara-aytumu
أَفَرَءَيْتُمُ
So have you seen
l-lāta
ٱللَّٰتَ
the Lat
wal-ʿuzā
وَٱلْعُزَّىٰ
and the Uzza

So have you considered al-Lat and al-Uzza?

Tafsir

وَمَنٰوةَ الثَّالِثَةَ الْاُخْرٰى   ( النجم: ٢٠ )

wamanata
وَمَنَوٰةَ
And Manat
l-thālithata
ٱلثَّالِثَةَ
the third
l-ukh'rā
ٱلْأُخْرَىٰٓ
the other?

And Manat, the third – the other one?
