اَخْرَجَ مِنْهَا مَاۤءَهَا وَمَرْعٰىهَاۖ  ( النازعات: ٣١ )

akhraja
أَخْرَجَ
He brought forth
min'hā
مِنْهَا
from it
māahā
مَآءَهَا
its water
wamarʿāhā
وَمَرْعَىٰهَا
and its pasture

He extracted from it its water and its pasture,

Tafsir

وَالْجِبَالَ اَرْسٰىهَاۙ  ( النازعات: ٣٢ )

wal-jibāla
وَٱلْجِبَالَ
And the mountains
arsāhā
أَرْسَىٰهَا
He made them firm

And the mountains He set firmly

Tafsir

مَتَاعًا لَّكُمْ وَلِاَنْعَامِكُمْۗ  ( النازعات: ٣٣ )

matāʿan
مَتَٰعًا
(As) a provision
lakum
لَّكُمْ
for you
wali-anʿāmikum
وَلِأَنْعَٰمِكُمْ
and for your cattle

As enjoyment [i.e., provision] for you and your grazing livestock.

Tafsir

فَاِذَا جَاۤءَتِ الطَّاۤمَّةُ الْكُبْرٰىۖ  ( النازعات: ٣٤ )

fa-idhā
فَإِذَا
But when
jāati
جَآءَتِ
comes
l-ṭāmatu
ٱلطَّآمَّةُ
the Overwhelming Calamity
l-kub'rā
ٱلْكُبْرَىٰ
the great

But when there comes the greatest Overwhelming Calamity -

Tafsir

يَوْمَ يَتَذَكَّرُ الْاِنْسَانُ مَا سَعٰىۙ  ( النازعات: ٣٥ )

yawma
يَوْمَ
(The) Day
yatadhakkaru
يَتَذَكَّرُ
will remember
l-insānu
ٱلْإِنسَٰنُ
man
مَا
what
saʿā
سَعَىٰ
he strove (for)

The Day when man will remember that for which he strove,

Tafsir

وَبُرِّزَتِ الْجَحِيْمُ لِمَنْ يَّرٰى  ( النازعات: ٣٦ )

waburrizati
وَبُرِّزَتِ
And will be made manifest
l-jaḥīmu
ٱلْجَحِيمُ
the Hell-Fire
liman
لِمَن
to (him) who
yarā
يَرَىٰ
sees

And Hellfire will be exposed for [all] those who see –

Tafsir

فَاَمَّا مَنْ طَغٰىۖ  ( النازعات: ٣٧ )

fa-ammā
فَأَمَّا
Then as for
man
مَن
(him) who
ṭaghā
طَغَىٰ
transgressed

So as for he who transgressed

Tafsir

وَاٰثَرَ الْحَيٰوةَ الدُّنْيَاۙ  ( النازعات: ٣٨ )

waāthara
وَءَاثَرَ
And preferred
l-ḥayata
ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ
the life
l-dun'yā
ٱلدُّنْيَا
(of) the world

And preferred the life of the world,

Tafsir

فَاِنَّ الْجَحِيْمَ هِيَ الْمَأْوٰىۗ  ( النازعات: ٣٩ )

fa-inna
فَإِنَّ
Then indeed
l-jaḥīma
ٱلْجَحِيمَ
the Hell-Fire
hiya
هِىَ
it
l-mawā
ٱلْمَأْوَىٰ
(is) the refuge

Then indeed, Hellfire will be [his] refuge.

Tafsir

وَاَمَّا مَنْ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهٖ وَنَهَى النَّفْسَ عَنِ الْهَوٰىۙ  ( النازعات: ٤٠ )

wa-ammā
وَأَمَّا
But as for
man
مَنْ
(him) who
khāfa
خَافَ
feared
maqāma
مَقَامَ
standing
rabbihi
رَبِّهِۦ
(before) his Lord
wanahā
وَنَهَى
and restrained
l-nafsa
ٱلنَّفْسَ
his soul
ʿani
عَنِ
from
l-hawā
ٱلْهَوَىٰ
the vain desires

But as for he who feared the position of his Lord and prevented the soul from [unlawful] inclination,
