أَخْرَجَ
He brought forth
مِنْهَا
from it
مَآءَهَا
its water
وَمَرْعَىٰهَا
and its pasture

Akhraja minha maa-aha wa mar 'aaha.

He extracted from it its water and its pasture,

Tafsir

وَٱلْجِبَالَ
And the mountains
أَرْسَىٰهَا
He made them firm

Wal jibala arsaaha.

And the mountains He set firmly

Tafsir

مَتَٰعًا
(As) a provision
لَّكُمْ
for you
وَلِأَنْعَٰمِكُمْ
and for your cattle

Mataa'al lakum wali an 'aamikum.

As enjoyment [i.e., provision] for you and your grazing livestock.

Tafsir

فَإِذَا
But when
جَآءَتِ
comes
ٱلطَّآمَّةُ
the Overwhelming Calamity
ٱلْكُبْرَىٰ
the great

Fa-izaa jaaa'atit taaam matul kubraa.

But when there comes the greatest Overwhelming Calamity -

Tafsir

يَوْمَ
(The) Day
يَتَذَكَّرُ
will remember
ٱلْإِنسَٰنُ
man
مَا
what
سَعَىٰ
he strove (for)

Yauma Yata zakkarul insaanu ma sa'aa.

The Day when man will remember that for which he strove,

Tafsir

وَبُرِّزَتِ
And will be made manifest
ٱلْجَحِيمُ
the Hell-Fire
لِمَن
to (him) who
يَرَىٰ
sees

Wa burrizatil-jaheemu limany-yaraa.

And Hellfire will be exposed for [all] those who see –

Tafsir

فَأَمَّا
Then as for
مَن
(him) who
طَغَىٰ
transgressed

Fa ammaa man taghaa.

So as for he who transgressed

Tafsir

وَءَاثَرَ
And preferred
ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ
the life
ٱلدُّنْيَا
(of) the world

Wa aasaral hayaatad dunyaa

And preferred the life of the world,

Tafsir

فَإِنَّ
Then indeed
ٱلْجَحِيمَ
the Hell-Fire
هِىَ
it
ٱلْمَأْوَىٰ
(is) the refuge

Fa innal jaheema hiyal maawaa.

Then indeed, Hellfire will be [his] refuge.

Tafsir

وَأَمَّا
But as for
مَنْ
(him) who
خَافَ
feared
مَقَامَ
standing
رَبِّهِۦ
(before) his Lord
وَنَهَى
and restrained
ٱلنَّفْسَ
his soul
عَنِ
from
ٱلْهَوَىٰ
the vain desires

Wa ammaa man khaafa maqaama Rabbihee wa nahan nafsa 'anil hawaa

But as for he who feared the position of his Lord and prevented the soul from [unlawful] inclination,
