اَلَمۡ يَرَوۡا كَمۡ اَهۡلَـكۡنَا مِنۡ قَبۡلِهِمۡ مِّنۡ قَرۡنٍ مَّكَّنّٰهُمۡ فِى الۡاَرۡضِ مَا لَمۡ نُمَكِّنۡ لَّـكُمۡ وَاَرۡسَلۡنَا السَّمَآءَ عَلَيۡهِمۡ مِّدۡرَارًا ۖ وَّجَعَلۡنَا الۡاَنۡهٰرَ تَجۡرِىۡ مِنۡ تَحۡتِهِمۡ فَاَهۡلَكۡنٰهُمۡ بِذُنُوۡبِهِمۡ وَاَنۡشَاۡنَا مِنۡۢ بَعۡدِهِمۡ قَرۡنًا اٰخَرِيۡنَ(الأنعام :6)
Alam yaraw kam ahlakna min qablihim min qarnin makkannahum fee alardi ma lam numakkin lakum waarsalna alssamaa 'alayhim midraran waja'alna alanhara tajree min tahtihim faahlaknahum bithunoobihim waanshana min ba'dihim qarnan akhareena
Sahih International:
Have they not seen how many generations We destroyed before them which We had established upon the earth as We have not established you? And We sent [rain from] the sky upon them in showers and made rivers flow beneath them; then We destroyed them for their sins and brought forth after them a generation of others.
وَلَقَدۡ اَهۡلَـكۡنَا الۡـقُرُوۡنَ مِنۡ قَبۡلِكُمۡ لَمَّا ظَلَمُوۡا ۙ وَجَآءَتۡهُمۡ رُسُلُهُمۡ بِالۡبَيِّنٰتِ وَمَا كَانُوۡا لِيُـؤۡمِنُوۡا ؕ كَذٰلِكَ نَجۡزِى الۡقَوۡمَ الۡمُجۡرِمِيۡنَ(يونس :13)
Walaqad ahlakna alquroona min qablikum lamma thalamoo wajaathum rusuluhum bialbayyinati wama kanoo liyuminoo kathalika najzee alqawma almujrimeena
Sahih International:
And We had already destroyed generations before you when they wronged, and their messengers had come to them with clear proofs, but they were not to believe. Thus do We recompense the criminal people
فَلَوۡ لَا كَانَ مِنَ الۡقُرُوۡنِ مِنۡ قَبۡلِكُمۡ اُولُوۡا بَقِيَّةٍ يَّـنۡهَوۡنَ عَنِ الۡفَسَادِ فِى الۡاَرۡضِ اِلَّا قَلِيۡلًا مِّمَّنۡ اَنۡجَيۡنَا مِنۡهُمۡ ۚ وَاتَّبَعَ الَّذِيۡنَ ظَلَمُوۡا مَاۤ اُتۡرِفُوۡا فِيۡهِ وَكَانُوۡا مُجۡرِمِيۡنَ(هود :116)
Falawla kana mina alqurooni min qablikum oloo baqiyyatin yanhawna 'ani alfasadi fee alardi illa qaleelan mimman anjayna minhum waittaba'a allatheena thalamoo ma otrifoo feehi wakanoo mujrimeena
Sahih International:
So why were there not among the generations before you those of enduring discrimination forbidding corruption on earth - except a few of those We saved from among them? But those who wronged pursued what luxury they were given therein, and they were criminals.
فَخَلَفَ مِنۡۢ بَعۡدِهِمۡ خَلۡفٌ اَضَاعُوا الصَّلٰوةَ وَاتَّبَعُوا الشَّهَوٰتِ ۖ فَسَوۡفَ يَلۡقَوۡنَ غَيًّا(مريم :59)
Fakhalafa min ba'dihim khalfun ada'oo alssalata waittaba'oo alshshahawati fasawfa yalqawna ghayyan
Sahih International:
But there came after them successors who neglected prayer and pursued desires; so they are going to meet evil -
وَكَمۡ اَهۡلَكۡنَا قَبۡلَهُمۡ مِّنۡ قَرۡنٍ هُمۡ اَحۡسَنُ اَثَاثًا وَّرِءۡيًا(مريم :74)
Wakam ahlakna qablahum min qarnin hum ahsanu athathan wariyan
Sahih International:
And how many a generation have We destroyed before them who were better in possessions and [outward] appearance?
وَكَمۡ اَهۡلَكۡنَا قَبۡلَهُمۡ مِّنۡ قَرۡنٍؕ هَلۡ تُحِسُّ مِنۡهُمۡ مِّنۡ اَحَدٍ اَوۡ تَسۡمَعُ لَهُمۡ رِكۡزًا(مريم :98)
Wakam ahlakna qablahum min qarnin hal tuhissu minhum min ahadin aw tasma'u lahum rikzan
Sahih International:
And how many have We destroyed before them of generations? Do you perceive of them anyone or hear from them a sound?
اَفَلَمۡ يَهۡدِ لَهُمۡ كَمۡ اَهۡلَكۡنَا قَبۡلَهُمۡ مِّنَ الۡقُرُوۡنِ يَمۡشُوۡنَ فِىۡ مَسٰكِنِهِمۡؕ اِنَّ فِىۡ ذٰ لِكَ لَاٰيٰتٍ لِّاُولِى النُّهٰى(طه :128)
Afalam yahdi lahum kam ahlakna qablahum mina alqurooni yamshoona fee masakinihim inna fee thalika laayatin liolee alnnuha
Sahih International:
Then, has it not become clear to them how many generations We destroyed before them as they walk among their dwellings? Indeed in that are signs for those of intelligence.
قَالَ فَمَا بَالُ الۡقُرُوۡنِ الۡاُوۡلٰى(طه :51)
Qala fama balu alqurooni aloola
Sahih International:
[Pharaoh] said, "Then what is the case of the former generations?"
ثُمَّ اَنۡشَاۡنَا مِنۡۢ بَعۡدِهِمۡ قُرُوۡنًا اٰخَرِيۡنَؕ(المؤمنون :42)
Thumma anshana min ba'dihim quroonan akhareena
Sahih International:
Then We produced after them other generations.
وَّعَادًا وَّثَمُوۡدَا۟ وَ اَصۡحٰبَ الرَّسِّ وَقُرُوۡنًۢا بَيۡنَ ذٰ لِكَ كَثِيۡرًا(الفرقان :38)
Wa'adan wathamooda waashaba alrrassi waquroonan bayna thalika katheeran
Sahih International:
And [We destroyed] 'Aad and Thamud and the companions of the well and many generations between them.
