فَاتَّقُوا اللّٰهَ وَاَطِيْعُوْنِۚ   ( الشعراء: ١٣١ )

fa-ittaqū
فَٱتَّقُوا۟
So fear
l-laha
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
wa-aṭīʿūni
وَأَطِيعُونِ
and obey me

So fear Allah and obey me.

Tafsir

وَاتَّقُوا الَّذِيْٓ اَمَدَّكُمْ بِمَا تَعْلَمُوْنَ ۚ  ( الشعراء: ١٣٢ )

wa-ittaqū
وَٱتَّقُوا۟
And fear
alladhī
ٱلَّذِىٓ
One Who
amaddakum
أَمَدَّكُم
has aided you
bimā
بِمَا
with what
taʿlamūna
تَعْلَمُونَ
you know

And fear He who provided you with that which you know,

Tafsir

اَمَدَّكُمْ بِاَنْعَامٍ وَّبَنِيْنَۙ   ( الشعراء: ١٣٣ )

amaddakum
أَمَدَّكُم
He has aided you
bi-anʿāmin
بِأَنْعَٰمٍ
with cattle
wabanīna
وَبَنِينَ
and children

Provided you with grazing livestock and children.

Tafsir

وَجَنّٰتٍ وَّعُيُوْنٍۚ   ( الشعراء: ١٣٤ )

wajannātin
وَجَنَّٰتٍ
And gardens
waʿuyūnin
وَعُيُونٍ
and springs

And gardens and springs.

Tafsir

اِنِّيْٓ اَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ عَظِيْمٍ ۗ   ( الشعراء: ١٣٥ )

innī
إِنِّىٓ
Indeed I
akhāfu
أَخَافُ
[I] fear
ʿalaykum
عَلَيْكُمْ
for you
ʿadhāba
عَذَابَ
(the) punishment
yawmin
يَوْمٍ
(of) a Day
ʿaẓīmin
عَظِيمٍ
Great"

Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a terrible day."

Tafsir

قَالُوْا سَوَاۤءٌ عَلَيْنَآ اَوَعَظْتَ اَمْ لَمْ تَكُنْ مِّنَ الْوَاعِظِيْنَ ۙ   ( الشعراء: ١٣٦ )

qālū
قَالُوا۟
They said
sawāon
سَوَآءٌ
"(It is) same
ʿalaynā
عَلَيْنَآ
to us
awaʿaẓta
أَوَعَظْتَ
whether you advise
am
أَمْ
or
lam
لَمْ
not
takun
تَكُن
you are
mina
مِّنَ
of
l-wāʿiẓīna
ٱلْوَٰعِظِينَ
the advisors

They said, "It is all the same to us whether you advise or are not of the advisors.

Tafsir

اِنْ هٰذَآ اِلَّا خُلُقُ الْاَوَّلِيْنَ ۙ   ( الشعراء: ١٣٧ )

in
إِنْ
Not
hādhā
هَٰذَآ
(is) this
illā
إِلَّا
but
khuluqu
خُلُقُ
(the) custom
l-awalīna
ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
(of) the former (people)

This is not but the custom of the former peoples,

Tafsir

وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُعَذَّبِيْنَ ۚ   ( الشعراء: ١٣٨ )

wamā
وَمَا
And not
naḥnu
نَحْنُ
we
bimuʿadhabīna
بِمُعَذَّبِينَ
(are) the ones to be punished"

And we are not to be punished."

Tafsir

فَكَذَّبُوْهُ فَاَهْلَكْنٰهُمْۗ اِنَّ فِيْ ذٰلِكَ لَاٰيَةً ۗوَمَا كَانَ اَكْثَرُهُمْ مُّؤْمِنِيْنَ   ( الشعراء: ١٣٩ )

fakadhabūhu
فَكَذَّبُوهُ
So they denied him
fa-ahlaknāhum
فَأَهْلَكْنَٰهُمْۗ
then We destroyed them
inna
إِنَّ
Indeed
فِى
in
dhālika
ذَٰلِكَ
that
laāyatan
لَءَايَةًۖ
surely is a sign
wamā
وَمَا
but not
kāna
كَانَ
are
aktharuhum
أَكْثَرُهُم
most of them
mu'minīna
مُّؤْمِنِينَ
believers

And they denied him, so We destroyed them. Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.

Tafsir

وَاِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ الْعَزِيْزُ الرَّحِيْمُ ࣖ  ( الشعراء: ١٤٠ )

wa-inna
وَإِنَّ
And indeed
rabbaka
رَبَّكَ
your Lord
lahuwa
لَهُوَ
surely He
l-ʿazīzu
ٱلْعَزِيزُ
(is) the All-Mighty
l-raḥīmu
ٱلرَّحِيمُ
the Most Merciful

And indeed, your Lord – He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.
