فَٱتَّقُوا۟
So fear
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
وَأَطِيعُونِ
and obey me

Fattaqul laaha wa atee'oon

So fear Allah and obey me.

Tafsir

وَٱتَّقُوا۟
And fear
ٱلَّذِىٓ
One Who
أَمَدَّكُم
has aided you
بِمَا
with what
تَعْلَمُونَ
you know

Wattaqul lazeee amad dakum bimaa ta'lamoon

And fear He who provided you with that which you know,

Tafsir

أَمَدَّكُم
He has aided you
بِأَنْعَٰمٍ
with cattle
وَبَنِينَ
and children

Amaddakum bi an'aa minw wa baneen

Provided you with grazing livestock and children.

Tafsir

وَجَنَّٰتٍ
And gardens
وَعُيُونٍ
and springs

Wa jannaatinw wa 'uyoon

And gardens and springs.

Tafsir

إِنِّىٓ
Indeed I
أَخَافُ
[I] fear
عَلَيْكُمْ
for you
عَذَابَ
(the) punishment
يَوْمٍ
(of) a Day
عَظِيمٍ
Great"

Innee akhaafu 'alaikum 'azaaba Yawmin 'azeem

Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a terrible day."

Tafsir

قَالُوا۟
They said
سَوَآءٌ
"(It is) same
عَلَيْنَآ
to us
أَوَعَظْتَ
whether you advise
أَمْ
or
لَمْ
not
تَكُن
you are
مِّنَ
of
ٱلْوَٰعِظِينَ
the advisors

Qaaloo sawaaa'un 'alainaaa awa 'azta am lam takum minal waa'izeen

They said, "It is all the same to us whether you advise or are not of the advisors.

Tafsir

إِنْ
Not
هَٰذَآ
(is) this
إِلَّا
but
خُلُقُ
(the) custom
ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
(of) the former (people)

In haazaaa illaa khuluqul awwaleen

This is not but the custom of the former peoples,

Tafsir

وَمَا
And not
نَحْنُ
we
بِمُعَذَّبِينَ
(are) the ones to be punished"

Wa maa nahnu bimu 'azzabeen

And we are not to be punished."

Tafsir

فَكَذَّبُوهُ
So they denied him
فَأَهْلَكْنَٰهُمْۗ
then We destroyed them
إِنَّ
Indeed
فِى
in
ذَٰلِكَ
that
لَءَايَةًۖ
surely is a sign
وَمَا
but not
كَانَ
are
أَكْثَرُهُم
most of them
مُّؤْمِنِينَ
believers

Fakazzaboohu fa ahlaknaahum; inna fee zaalika la aayah; wa maa kaana aksaruhum mu'mineen

And they denied him, so We destroyed them. Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.

Tafsir

وَإِنَّ
And indeed
رَبَّكَ
your Lord
لَهُوَ
surely He
ٱلْعَزِيزُ
(is) the All-Mighty
ٱلرَّحِيمُ
the Most Merciful

Wa inna Rabbaka la huwal 'Azeezur Raheem

And indeed, your Lord – He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.
