Surah [2] Al-Baqara : 36

فَاَزَلَّهُمَا الشَّيۡطٰنُ عَنۡهَا فَاَخۡرَجَهُمَا مِمَّا كَانَا فِيۡهِ‌ وَقُلۡنَا اهۡبِطُوۡا بَعۡضُكُمۡ لِبَعۡضٍ عَدُوٌّ ۚ وَلَـكُمۡ فِى الۡاَرۡضِ مُسۡتَقَرٌّ وَّمَتَاعٌ اِلٰى حِيۡنٍ(البقرة :36)

فَأَزَلَّهُمَا
Then made [both of] them slip
ٱلشَّيْطَٰنُ
the Shaitaan
عَنْهَا
from it
فَأَخْرَجَهُمَا
and he got [both of] them out
مِمَّا
from what
كَانَا
they [both] were
فِيهِۖ
in [it]
وَقُلْنَا
And We said
ٱهْبِطُوا۟
"Go down (all of you)
بَعْضُكُمْ
some of you
لِبَعْضٍ
to others
عَدُوٌّۖ
(as) enemy
وَلَكُمْ
and for you
فِى
in
ٱلْأَرْضِ
the earth
مُسْتَقَرٌّ
(is) a dwelling place
وَمَتَٰعٌ
and a provision
إِلَىٰ
for
حِينٍ
a period"

Faazallahuma alshshaytanu 'anha faakhrajahuma mimma kana feehi waqulna ihbitoo ba'dukum liba'din 'aduwwun walakum fee alardi mustaqarrun wamata'un ila heenin

Sahih International:

But Satan caused them to slip out of it and removed them from that [condition] in which they had been. And We said, "Go down, [all of you], as enemies to one another, and you will have upon the earth a place of settlement and provision for a time."

Surah [3] Ali Imran : 14

زُيِّنَ لِلنَّاسِ حُبُّ الشَّهَوٰتِ مِنَ النِّسَآءِ وَالۡبَـنِيۡنَ وَالۡقَنَاطِيۡرِ الۡمُقَنۡطَرَةِ مِنَ الذَّهَبِ وَالۡفِضَّةِ وَالۡخَـيۡلِ الۡمُسَوَّمَةِ وَالۡاَنۡعَامِ وَالۡحَـرۡثِ‌ؕ ذٰ لِكَ مَتَاعُ الۡحَيٰوةِ الدُّنۡيَا ‌ۚ وَاللّٰهُ عِنۡدَهٗ حُسۡنُ الۡمَاٰبِ (آل عمران :14)

زُيِّنَ
[It is] beautified
لِلنَّاسِ
for mankind
حُبُّ
(is) love
ٱلشَّهَوَٰتِ
(of) the (things they) desire -
مِنَ
of
ٱلنِّسَآءِ
[the] women
وَٱلْبَنِينَ
and [the] sons
وَٱلْقَنَٰطِيرِ
and [the] heaps
ٱلْمُقَنطَرَةِ
[the] stored up
مِنَ
of
ٱلذَّهَبِ
[the] gold
وَٱلْفِضَّةِ
and [the] silver
وَٱلْخَيْلِ
and [the] horses
ٱلْمُسَوَّمَةِ
[the] branded
وَٱلْأَنْعَٰمِ
and [the] cattle
وَٱلْحَرْثِۗ
and [the] tilled land
ذَٰلِكَ
That
مَتَٰعُ
(is) provision
ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ
(of) life
ٱلدُّنْيَاۖ
(of) the world
وَٱللَّهُ
but Allah -
عِندَهُۥ
with Him
حُسْنُ
(is an) excellent
ٱلْمَـَٔابِ
[the] abode to return

Zuyyina lilnnasi hubbu alshshahawati mina alnnisai waalbaneena waalqanateeri almuqantarati mina alththahabi waalfiddati waalkhayli almusawwamati waalan'ami waalharthi thalika mata'u alhayati alddunya waAllahu 'indahu husnu almaabi

Sahih International:

Beautified for people is the love of that which they desire - of women and sons, heaped-up sums of gold and silver, fine branded horses, and cattle and tilled land. That is the enjoyment of worldly life, but Allah has with Him the best return.

Surah [3] Ali Imran : 185

كُلُّ نَفۡسٍ ذَآٮِٕقَةُ الۡمَوۡتِ‌ؕ وَاِنَّمَا تُوَفَّوۡنَ اُجُوۡرَكُمۡ يَوۡمَ الۡقِيٰمَةِ‌ؕ فَمَنۡ زُحۡزِحَ عَنِ النَّارِ وَاُدۡخِلَ الۡجَـنَّةَ فَقَدۡ فَازَ ‌ؕ وَمَا الۡحَيٰوةُ الدُّنۡيَاۤ اِلَّا مَتَاعُ الۡغُرُوۡرِ‏(آل عمران :185)

كُلُّ
Every
نَفْسٍ
soul
ذَآئِقَةُ
(will) taste
ٱلْمَوْتِۗ
[the] death
وَإِنَّمَا
and only
تُوَفَّوْنَ
you will be paid in full
أُجُورَكُمْ
your reward
يَوْمَ
(on the) Day
ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِۖ
(of) [the] Resurrection
فَمَن
Then whoever
زُحْزِحَ
is drawn away
عَنِ
from
ٱلنَّارِ
the Fire
وَأُدْخِلَ
and admitted
ٱلْجَنَّةَ
(to) Paradise
فَقَدْ
then surely
فَازَۗ
he is successful
وَمَا
And not
ٱلْحَيَوٰةُ
(is) the life
ٱلدُّنْيَآ
(of) the world
إِلَّا
except
مَتَٰعُ
enjoyment
ٱلْغُرُورِ
(of) delusion

Kullu nafsin thaiqatu almawti wainnama tuwaffawna ojoorakum yawma alqiyamati faman zuhziha 'ani alnnari waodkhila aljannata faqad faza wama alhayatu alddunya illa mata'u alghuroori

Sahih International:

Every soul will taste death, and you will only be given your [full] compensation on the Day of Resurrection. So he who is drawn away from the Fire and admitted to Paradise has attained [his desire]. And what is the life of this world except the enjoyment of delusion.

Surah [4] An-Nisa' : 77

اَلَمۡ تَرَ اِلَى الَّذِيۡنَ قِيۡلَ لَهُمۡ كُفُّوۡۤا اَيۡدِيَكُمۡ وَاَقِيۡمُوا الصَّلٰوةَ وَاٰ تُوا الزَّكٰوةَ ۚ فَلَمَّا كُتِبَ عَلَيۡهِمُ الۡقِتَالُ اِذَا فَرِيۡقٌ مِّنۡهُمۡ يَخۡشَوۡنَ النَّاسَ كَخَشۡيَةِ اللّٰهِ اَوۡ اَشَدَّ خَشۡيَةً‌ ۚ وَقَالُوۡا رَبَّنَا لِمَ كَتَبۡتَ عَلَيۡنَا الۡقِتَالَ ۚ لَوۡلَاۤ اَخَّرۡتَنَاۤ اِلٰٓى اَجَلٍ قَرِيۡبٍ‌ ؕ قُلۡ مَتَاعُ الدُّنۡيَا قَلِيۡلٌ‌ ۚ وَالۡاٰخِرَةُ خَيۡرٌ لِّمَنِ اتَّقٰى وَلَا تُظۡلَمُوۡنَ فَتِيۡلًا(النساء :77)

أَلَمْ
Have not
تَرَ
you seen
إِلَى
[towards]
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
قِيلَ
(when) it was said
لَهُمْ
to them
كُفُّوٓا۟
"Restrain
أَيْدِيَكُمْ
your hands
وَأَقِيمُوا۟
and establish
ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ
the prayer
وَءَاتُوا۟
and give
ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ
the zakah?"
فَلَمَّا
Then when
كُتِبَ
was ordained
عَلَيْهِمُ
on them
ٱلْقِتَالُ
the fighting
إِذَا
then
فَرِيقٌ
a group
مِّنْهُمْ
of them
يَخْشَوْنَ
[they] fear
ٱلنَّاسَ
the people
كَخَشْيَةِ
as (they) fear
ٱللَّهِ
Allah
أَوْ
or
أَشَدَّ
more intense
خَشْيَةًۚ
fear
وَقَالُوا۟
and they said
رَبَّنَا
"Our Lord
لِمَ
why
كَتَبْتَ
have You ordained
عَلَيْنَا
upon us
ٱلْقِتَالَ
[the] fighting?
لَوْلَآ
Why not
أَخَّرْتَنَآ
You postpone (it for) us
إِلَىٰٓ
to
أَجَلٍ
a term"
قَرِيبٍۗ
near"
قُلْ
Say
مَتَٰعُ
"Enjoyment
ٱلدُّنْيَا
(of) the world
قَلِيلٌ
(is) little
وَٱلْءَاخِرَةُ
and the Hereafter
خَيْرٌ
(is) better
لِّمَنِ
for whoever
ٱتَّقَىٰ
fears (Allah)
وَلَا
and not
تُظْلَمُونَ
you will be wronged
فَتِيلًا
(even as much as) a hair on a date-seed"

Alam tara ila allatheena qeela lahum kuffoo aydiyakum waaqeemoo alssalata waatoo alzzakata falamma kutiba 'alayhimu alqitalu itha fareequn minhum yakhshawna alnnasa kakhashyati Allahi aw ashadda khashyatan waqaloo rabbana lima katabta 'alayna alqitala lawla akhkhartana ila ajalin qareebin qul mata'u alddunya qaleelun waalakhiratu khayrun limani ittaqa wala tuthlamoona fateelan

Sahih International:

Have you not seen those who were told, "Restrain your hands [from fighting] and establish prayer and give zakah"? But then when fighting was ordained for them, at once a party of them feared men as they fear Allah or with [even] greater fear. They said, "Our Lord, why have You decreed upon us fighting? If only You had postponed [it for] us for a short time." Say, The enjoyment of this world is little, and the Hereafter is better for he who fears Allah . And injustice will not be done to you, [even] as much as a thread [inside a date seed]."

Surah [7] Al-A'raf : 24

قَالَ اهۡبِطُوۡا بَعۡضُكُمۡ لِبَـعۡضٍ عَدُوٌّ‌ ۚ وَلَـكُمۡ فِى الۡاَرۡضِ مُسۡتَقَرٌّ وَّمَتَاعٌ اِلٰى حِيۡنٍ‏(الأعراف :24)

قَالَ
(Allah) said
ٱهْبِطُوا۟
"Get down
بَعْضُكُمْ
some of you
لِبَعْضٍ
to some others
عَدُوٌّۖ
(as) enemy
وَلَكُمْ
And for you
فِى
in
ٱلْأَرْضِ
the earth
مُسْتَقَرٌّ
(is) a dwelling place
وَمَتَٰعٌ
and livelihood
إِلَىٰ
for
حِينٍ
a time"

Qala ihbitoo ba'dukum liba'din 'aduwwun walakum fee alardi mustaqarrun wamata'un ila heenin

Sahih International:

[ Allah ] said, "Descend, being to one another enemies. And for you on the earth is a place of settlement and enjoyment for a time."

Tafsir (More Translations)
Surah [10] Yunus : 23

فَلَمَّاۤ اَنۡجٰٮهُمۡ اِذَا هُمۡ يَبۡغُوۡنَ فِى الۡاَرۡضِ بِغَيۡرِ الۡحَـقِّ‌ ؕ يٰۤـاَ يُّهَا النَّاسُ اِنَّمَا بَغۡيُكُمۡ عَلٰٓى اَنۡفُسِكُمۡ‌ۙ مَّتَاعَ الۡحَيٰوةِ الدُّنۡيَا‌ ثُمَّ اِلَـيۡنَا مَرۡجِعُكُمۡ فَنُنَبِّئُكُمۡ بِمَا كُنۡتُمۡ تَعۡمَلُوۡنَ(يونس :23)

فَلَمَّآ
But when
أَنجَىٰهُمْ
He saved them
إِذَا
behold!
هُمْ
They
يَبْغُونَ
rebel
فِى
in
ٱلْأَرْضِ
the earth
بِغَيْرِ
without
ٱلْحَقِّۗ
[the] right
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا
O mankind!
ٱلنَّاسُ
O mankind!
إِنَّمَا
Only
بَغْيُكُمْ
your rebellion
عَلَىٰٓ
(is) against
أَنفُسِكُمۖ
yourselves
مَّتَٰعَ
(the) enjoyment
ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ
(of) the life
ٱلدُّنْيَاۖ
(of) the world
ثُمَّ
Then
إِلَيْنَا
to Us
مَرْجِعُكُمْ
(is) your return
فَنُنَبِّئُكُم
and We will inform you
بِمَا
of what
كُنتُمْ
you used (to)
تَعْمَلُونَ
do

Falamma anjahum itha hum yabghoona fee alardi bighayri alhaqqi ya ayyuha alnnasu innama baghyukum 'ala anfusikum mata'a alhayati alddunya thumma ilayna marji'ukum fanunabbiokum bima kuntum ta'maloona

Sahih International:

But when He saves them, at once they commit injustice upon the earth without right. O mankind, your injustice is only against yourselves, [being merely] the enjoyment of worldly life. Then to Us is your return, and We will inform you of what you used to do.

Surah [10] Yunus : 70

مَتَاعٌ فِى الدُّنۡيَا ثُمَّ اِلَيۡنَا مَرۡجِعُهُمۡ ثُمَّ نُذِيۡقُهُمُ الۡعَذَابَ الشَّدِيۡدَ بِمَا كَانُوۡا يَكۡفُرُوۡنَ(يونس :70)

مَتَٰعٌ
An enjoyment
فِى
in
ٱلدُّنْيَا
the world
ثُمَّ
then
إِلَيْنَا
to Us
مَرْجِعُهُمْ
(is) their return
ثُمَّ
then
نُذِيقُهُمُ
We will make them taste
ٱلْعَذَابَ
the punishment
ٱلشَّدِيدَ
the severe
بِمَا
because
كَانُوا۟
they used to
يَكْفُرُونَ
disbelieve

Mata'un fee alddunya thumma ilayna marji'uhum thumma nutheequhumu al'athaba alshshadeeda bima kanoo yakfuroona

Sahih International:

[For them is brief] enjoyment in this world; then to Us is their return; then We will make them taste the severe punishment because they used to disbelieve

Surah [11] Hud : 3

وَّاَنِ اسۡتَغۡفِرُوۡا رَبَّكُمۡ ثُمَّ تُوۡبُوۡۤا اِلَيۡهِ يُمَتِّعۡكُمۡ مَّتَاعًا حَسَنًا اِلٰٓى اَجَلٍ مُّسَمًّى وَ يُؤۡتِ كُلَّ ذِىۡ فَضۡلٍ فَضۡلَهٗ ‌ؕ وَاِنۡ تَوَلَّوۡا فَاِنِّىۡۤ اَخَافُ عَلَيۡكُمۡ عَذَابَ يَوۡمٍ كَبِيۡرٍ(هود :3)

وَأَنِ
And that
ٱسْتَغْفِرُوا۟
"Seek forgiveness
رَبَّكُمْ
(of) your Lord
ثُمَّ
and
تُوبُوٓا۟
turn in repentance
إِلَيْهِ
to Him
يُمَتِّعْكُم
He will let you
مَّتَٰعًا
enjoy
حَسَنًا
a good
إِلَىٰٓ
for
أَجَلٍ
a term
مُّسَمًّى
appointed
وَيُؤْتِ
And give
كُلَّ
(to) every
ذِى
owner
فَضْلٍ
(of) grace
فَضْلَهُۥۖ
His Grace
وَإِن
But if
تَوَلَّوْا۟
you turn away
فَإِنِّىٓ
then indeed, I
أَخَافُ
fear
عَلَيْكُمْ
for you
عَذَابَ
(the) punishment
يَوْمٍ
(of) a Great Day
كَبِيرٍ
(of) a Great Day

Waani istaghfiroo rabbakum thumma tooboo ilayhi yumatti'kum mata'an hasanan ila ajalin musamman wayuti kulla thee fadlin fadlahu wain tawallaw fainee akhafu 'alaykum 'athaba yawmin kabeerin

Sahih International:

And [saying], "Seek forgiveness of your Lord and repent to Him, [and] He will let you enjoy a good provision for a specified term and give every doer of favor his favor. But if you turn away, then indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a great Day.

Surah [13] Ar-Ra'd : 17

اَنۡزَلَ مِنَ السَّمَآءِ مَآءً فَسَالَتۡ اَوۡدِيَةٌۢ بِقَدَرِهَا فَاحۡتَمَلَ السَّيۡلُ زَبَدًا رَّابِيًا‌ ؕ وَمِمَّا يُوۡقِدُوۡنَ عَلَيۡهِ فِى النَّارِ ابۡتِغَآءَ حِلۡيَةٍ اَوۡ مَتَاعٍ زَبَدٌ مِّثۡلُهٗ‌ ؕ كَذٰلِكَ يَضۡرِبُ اللّٰهُ الۡحَـقَّ وَالۡبَاطِلَ ؕ  فَاَمَّا الزَّبَدُ فَيَذۡهَبُ جُفَآءً‌‌ ۚ وَاَمَّا مَا يَنۡفَعُ النَّاسَ فَيَمۡكُثُ فِى الۡاَرۡضِ‌ؕ كَذٰلِكَ يَضۡرِبُ اللّٰهُ الۡاَمۡثَالَؕ(الرعد :17)

أَنزَلَ
He sends down
مِنَ
from
ٱلسَّمَآءِ
the sky
مَآءً
water
فَسَالَتْ
and flows
أَوْدِيَةٌۢ
the valleys
بِقَدَرِهَا
according to their measure
فَٱحْتَمَلَ
and carries
ٱلسَّيْلُ
the torrent
زَبَدًا
a foam
رَّابِيًاۚ
rising
وَمِمَّا
And from what
يُوقِدُونَ
they heat
عَلَيْهِ
[on] it
فِى
in
ٱلنَّارِ
the fire
ٱبْتِغَآءَ
in order to make
حِلْيَةٍ
ornaments
أَوْ
or
مَتَٰعٍ
utensils
زَبَدٌ
a foam
مِّثْلُهُۥۚ
like it
كَذَٰلِكَ
Thus
يَضْرِبُ
sets forth
ٱللَّهُ
Allah
ٱلْحَقَّ
the truth
وَٱلْبَٰطِلَۚ
and the falsehood
فَأَمَّا
Then as for
ٱلزَّبَدُ
the foam
فَيَذْهَبُ
it passes away
جُفَآءًۖ
(as) scum
وَأَمَّا
and as for
مَا
what
يَنفَعُ
benefits
ٱلنَّاسَ
the mankind
فَيَمْكُثُ
remains
فِى
in
ٱلْأَرْضِۚ
the earth
كَذَٰلِكَ
Thus
يَضْرِبُ
Allah sets forth
ٱللَّهُ
Allah sets forth
ٱلْأَمْثَالَ
the examples

Anzala mina alssamai maan fasalat awdiyatun biqadariha faihtamala alssaylu zabadan rabiyan wamimma yooqidoona 'alayhi fee alnnari ibtighaa hilyatin aw mata'in zabadun mithluhu kathalika yadribu Allahu alhaqqa waalbatila faamma alzzabadu fayathhabu jufaan waamma ma yanfa'u alnnasa fayamkuthu fee alardi kathalika yadribu Allahu alamthala

Sahih International:

He sends down from the sky, rain, and valleys flow according to their capacity, and the torrent carries a rising foam. And from that [ore] which they heat in the fire, desiring adornments and utensils, is a foam like it. Thus Allah presents [the example of] truth and falsehood. As for the foam, it vanishes, [being] cast off; but as for that which benefits the people, it remains on the earth. Thus does Allah present examples.

Surah [13] Ar-Ra'd : 26

اَللّٰهُ يَبۡسُطُ الرِّزۡقَ لِمَنۡ يَّشَآءُ وَيَقۡدِرُ‌ؕ وَفَرِحُوۡا بِالۡحَيٰوةِ الدُّنۡيَا ؕ وَمَا الۡحَيٰوةُ الدُّنۡيَا فِى الۡاٰخِرَةِ اِلَّا مَتَاعٌ(الرعد :26)

ٱللَّهُ
Allah
يَبْسُطُ
extends
ٱلرِّزْقَ
the provision
لِمَن
for whom
يَشَآءُ
He wills
وَيَقْدِرُۚ
and restricts
وَفَرِحُوا۟
And they rejoice
بِٱلْحَيَوٰةِ
in the life
ٱلدُّنْيَا
(of) the world
وَمَا
and nothing
ٱلْحَيَوٰةُ
(is) the life
ٱلدُّنْيَا
of the world
فِى
in (comparison to)
ٱلْءَاخِرَةِ
the Hereafter
إِلَّا
except
مَتَٰعٌ
an enjoyment

Allahu yabsutu alrrizqa liman yashao wayaqdiru wafarihoo bialhayati alddunya wama alhayatu alddunya fee alakhirati illa mata'un

Sahih International:

Allah extends provision for whom He wills and restricts [it]. And they rejoice in the worldly life, while the worldly life is not, compared to the Hereafter, except [brief] enjoyment.
