وَلَا تَجۡعَلُوا اللّٰهَ عُرۡضَةً لِّاَيۡمَانِکُمۡ اَنۡ تَبَرُّوۡا وَتَتَّقُوۡا وَتُصۡلِحُوۡا بَيۡنَ النَّاسِؕ وَاللّٰهُ سَمِيۡعٌ عَلِيۡمٌ(البقرة :224)
Wala taj'aloo Allaha 'urdatan liaymanikum an tabarroo watattaqoo watuslihoo bayna alnnasi waAllahu samee'un 'aleemun
Sahih International:
And do not make [your oath by] Allah an excuse against being righteous and fearing Allah and making peace among people. And Allah is Hearing and Knowing.
لَا يُؤَاخِذُكُمُ اللّٰهُ بِاللَّغۡوِ فِىۡٓ اَيۡمَانِكُمۡ وَلٰـكِنۡ يُّؤَاخِذُكُمۡ بِمَا كَسَبَتۡ قُلُوۡبُكُمۡؕ وَاللّٰهُ غَفُوۡرٌ حَلِيۡمٌ(البقرة :225)
La yuakhithukumu Allahu biallaghwi fee aymanikum walakin yuakhithukum bima kasabat quloobukum waAllahu ghafoorun haleemun
Sahih International:
Allah does not impose blame upon you for what is unintentional in your oaths, but He imposes blame upon you for what your hearts have earned. And Allah is Forgiving and Forbearing.
لِّـلَّذِيۡنَ يُؤۡلُوۡنَ مِنۡ نِّسَآٮِٕهِمۡ تَرَبُّصُ اَرۡبَعَةِ اَشۡهُرٍۚ فَاِنۡ فَآءُوۡ فَاِنَّ اللّٰهَ غَفُوۡرٌ رَّحِيۡمٌ(البقرة :226)
Lillatheena yuloona min nisaihim tarabbusu arba'ati ashhurin fain faoo fainna Allaha ghafoorun raheemun
Sahih International:
For those who swear not to have sexual relations with their wives is a waiting time of four months, but if they return [to normal relations] - then indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.
وَاِنۡ عَزَمُوا الطَّلَاقَ فَاِنَّ اللّٰهَ سَمِيۡعٌ عَلِيۡمٌ(البقرة :227)
Wain 'azamoo alttalaqa fainna Allaha samee'un 'aleemun
Sahih International:
And if they decide on divorce - then indeed, Allah is Hearing and Knowing.
اِنَّ الَّذِيۡنَ يَشۡتَرُوۡنَ بِعَهۡدِ اللّٰهِ وَاَيۡمَانِهِمۡ ثَمَنًا قَلِيۡلًا اُولٰٓٮِٕكَ لَا خَلَاقَ لَهُمۡ فِى الۡاٰخِرَةِ وَلَا يُكَلِّمُهُمُ اللّٰهُ وَلَا يَنۡظُرُ اِلَيۡهِمۡ يَوۡمَ الۡقِيٰمَةِ وَلَا يُزَكِّيۡهِمۡ ۖ وَلَهُمۡ عَذَابٌ اَ لِيۡمٌ(آل عمران :77)
Inna allatheena yashtaroona bi'ahdi Allahi waaymanihim thamanan qaleelan olaika la khalaqa lahum fee alakhirati wala yukallimuhumu Allahu wala yanthuru ilayhim yawma alqiyamati wala yuzakkeehim walahum 'athabun aleemun
Sahih International:
Indeed, those who exchange the covenant of Allah and their [own] oaths for a small price will have no share in the Hereafter, and Allah will not speak to them or look at them on the Day of Resurrection, nor will He purify them; and they will have a painful punishment.
لَا يُؤَاخِذُكُمُ اللّٰهُ بِاللَّغۡوِ فِىۡۤ اَيۡمَانِكُمۡ وَلٰـكِنۡ يُّؤَاخِذُكُمۡ بِمَا عَقَّدْتُّمُ الۡاَيۡمَانَ ۚ فَكَفَّارَتُهٗۤ اِطۡعَامُ عَشَرَةِ مَسٰكِيۡنَ مِنۡ اَوۡسَطِ مَا تُطۡعِمُوۡنَ اَهۡلِيۡكُمۡ اَوۡ كِسۡوَتُهُمۡ اَوۡ تَحۡرِيۡرُ رَقَبَةٍ ؕ فَمَنۡ لَّمۡ يَجِدۡ فَصِيَامُ ثَلٰثَةِ اَيَّامٍ ؕ ذٰ لِكَ كَفَّارَةُ اَيۡمَانِكُمۡ اِذَا حَلَفۡتُمۡ ؕ وَاحۡفَظُوۡۤا اَيۡمَانَكُمۡ ؕ كَذٰلِكَ يُبَيِّنُ اللّٰهُ لَـكُمۡ اٰيٰتِهٖ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تَشۡكُرُوۡنَ(المائدة :89)
La yuakhithukumu Allahu biallaghwi fee aymanikum walakin yuakhithukum bima 'aqqadtumu alaymana fakaffaratuhu it'amu 'asharati masakeena min awsati ma tut'imoona ahleekum aw kiswatuhum aw tahreeru raqabatin faman lam yajid fasiyamu thalathati ayyamin thalika kaffaratu aymanikum itha halaftum waihfathoo aymanakum kathalika yubayyinu Allahu lakum ayatihi la'allakum tashkuroona
Sahih International:
Allah will not impose blame upon you for what is meaningless in your oaths, but He will impose blame upon you for [breaking] what you intended of oaths. So its expiation is the feeding of ten needy people from the average of that which you feed your [own] families or clothing them or the freeing of a slave. But whoever cannot find [or afford it] - then a fast of three days [is required]. That is the expiation for oaths when you have sworn. But guard your oaths. Thus does Allah make clear to you His verses that you may be grateful.
وَاَقۡسَمُوۡا بِاللّٰهِ جَهۡدَ اَيۡمَانِهِمۡ لَٮِٕنۡ جَآءَتۡهُمۡ اٰيَةٌ لَّيُؤۡمِنُنَّ بِهَا ؕ قُلۡ اِنَّمَا الۡاٰيٰتُ عِنۡدَ اللّٰهِ وَمَا يُشۡعِرُكُمۙۡ اَنَّهَاۤ اِذَا جَآءَتۡ لَا يُؤۡمِنُوۡنَ(الأنعام :109)
Waaqsamoo biAllahi jahda aymanihim lain jaathum ayatun layuminunna biha qul innama alayatu 'inda Allahi wama yush'irukum annaha itha jaat la yuminoona
Sahih International:
And they swear by Allah their strongest oaths that if a sign came to them, they would surely believe in it. Say, "The signs are only with Allah ." And what will make you perceive that even if a sign came, they would not believe.
وَ اَقۡسَمُوۡا بِاللّٰهِ جَهۡدَ اَيۡمَانِهِمۡۙ لَا يَبۡعَثُ اللّٰهُ مَنۡ يَّمُوۡتُؕ بَلٰى وَعۡدًا عَلَيۡهِ حَقًّا وَّلٰـكِنَّ اَكۡثَرَ النَّاسِ لَا يَعۡلَمُوۡنَۙ(النحل :38)
Waaqsamoo biAllahi jahda aymanihim la yab'athu Allahu man yamootu bala wa'dan 'alayhi haqqan walakinna akthara alnnasi la ya'lamoona
Sahih International:
And they swear by Allah their strongest oaths [that] Allah will not resurrect one who dies. But yes - [it is] a true promise [binding] upon Him, but most of the people do not know.
وَ اَوۡفُوۡا بِعَهۡدِ اللّٰهِ اِذَا عَاهَدتُّمۡ وَلَا تَنۡقُضُوا الۡاَيۡمَانَ بَعۡدَ تَوۡكِيۡدِهَا وَقَدۡ جَعَلۡتُمُ اللّٰهَ عَلَيۡكُمۡ كَفِيۡلًا ؕ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ يَعۡلَمُ مَا تَفۡعَلُوۡنَ(النحل :91)
Waawfoo bi'ahdi Allahi itha 'ahadtum wala tanqudoo alaymana ba'da tawkeediha waqad ja'altumu Allaha 'alaykum kafeelan inna Allaha ya'lamu ma taf'aloona
Sahih International:
And fulfill the covenant of Allah when you have taken it, [O believers], and do not break oaths after their confirmation while you have made Allah, over you, a witness. Indeed, Allah knows what you do.
وَلَا تَكُوۡنُوۡا كَالَّتِىۡ نَقَضَتۡ غَزۡلَهَا مِنۡۢ بَعۡدِ قُوَّةٍ اَنۡكَاثًا ؕ تَتَّخِذُوۡنَ اَيۡمَانَكُمۡ دَخَلًاۢ بَيۡنَكُمۡ اَنۡ تَكُوۡنَ اُمَّةٌ هِىَ اَرۡبٰى مِنۡ اُمَّةٍ ؕ اِنَّمَا يَبۡلُوۡكُمُ اللّٰهُ بِهٖ ؕ وَلَيُبَيِّنَنَّ لَـكُمۡ يَوۡمَ الۡقِيٰمَةِ مَا كُنۡـتُمۡ فِيۡهِ تَخۡتَلِفُوۡنَ(النحل :92)
Wala takoonoo kaallatee naqadat ghazlaha min ba'di quwwatin ankathan tattakhithoona aymanakum dakhalan baynakum an takoona ommatun hiya arba min ommatin innama yablookumu Allahu bihi walayubayyinanna lakum yawma alqiyamati ma kuntum feehi takhtalifoona
Sahih International:
And do not be like she who untwisted her spun thread after it was strong [by] taking your oaths as [means of] deceit between you because one community is more plentiful [in number or wealth] than another community. Allah only tries you thereby. And He will surely make clear to you on the Day of Resurrection that over which you used to differ.
