أَلَمْ
Do not

you see
أَنَّ
that
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
أَنزَلَ
sends down
مِنَ
from
ٱلسَّمَآءِ
the sky
مَآءً
water
فَسَلَكَهُۥ
and He makes it flow
يَنَٰبِيعَ
(as) springs
فِى
in
ٱلْأَرْضِ
the earth
ثُمَّ
then
يُخْرِجُ
He produces
بِهِۦ
with it
زَرْعًا
crops
مُّخْتَلِفًا
(of) different
أَلْوَٰنُهُۥ
colors
ثُمَّ
then
يَهِيجُ
they wither
فَتَرَىٰهُ
and you see them
مُصْفَرًّا
turn yellow
ثُمَّ
then
يَجْعَلُهُۥ
He makes them
حُطَٰمًاۚ
debris?
إِنَّ
Indeed
فِى
in
ذَٰلِكَ
that
لَذِكْرَىٰ
surely, (is) a reminder
لِأُو۟لِى
for those of understanding
ٱلْأَلْبَٰبِ
for those of understanding

Alam tara annal laaha anzala minas samaaa'i maaa'an fasalakahoo yanaabee'a fil ardi summa yukhriju bihee zar'am mukhtalifan alwaanuhoo summa yaheeju fatarahu musfarran summa yaj'aluhoo hutaamaa; inna fee zaalika lazikraa li ulil albaab

Do you not see that Allah sends down rain from the sky and makes it flow as springs [and rivers] in the earth; then He produces thereby crops of varying colors; then they dry and you see them turned yellow; then He makes them [scattered] debris. Indeed in that is a reminder for those of understanding.

Tafsir

أَفَمَن
So is (one for) whom
شَرَحَ
Allah has expanded
ٱللَّهُ
Allah has expanded
صَدْرَهُۥ
his breast
لِلْإِسْلَٰمِ
for Islam
فَهُوَ
so he

فَوَيْلٌ
So woe

clear

Afaman sharahal laahu sadrahoo lil Islaami fahuwa 'alaa noorim mir Rabbih; fa wailul lilqaasiyati quloobuhum min zikril laah; ulaaa'ika fee dalaalim mubeen

So is one whose breast Allah has expanded to [accept] IsLam and he is upon [i.e., guided by] a light from his Lord [like one whose heart rejects it]? Then woe to those whose hearts are hardened against the remembrance of Allah. Those are in manifest error.

ٱللَّهُ
Allah

ثُمَّ
then

(of) Allah
يَهْدِى
He guides

مَن
whom

He wills
وَمَن
And whoever
يُضْلِلِ
Allah lets go astray
ٱللَّهُ
Allah lets go astray
فَمَا
then not

guide

Allahu nazzala ahsanal hadeesi Kitaabam mutashaa biham masaaniy taqsha'irru minhu juloodul lazeena yakhshawna Rabbahum summa taleenu julooduhum wa quloo buhum ilaa zikril laah; zaalika hudal laahi yahdee bihee mai yashaaa'; wa mai yudlilil laahu famaa lahoo min haad

Allah has sent down the best statement: a consistent Book wherein is reiteration. The skins shiver therefrom of those who fear their Lord; then their skins and their hearts relax at the remembrance [i.e., mention] of Allah. That is the guidance of Allah by which He guides whom He wills. And one whom Allah sends astray – for him there is no guide.

Tafsir

أَفَمَن
Then (is) he who
يَتَّقِى
will shield
بِوَجْهِهِۦ
with his face
سُوٓءَ
(the) worst
ٱلْعَذَابِ
punishment
يَوْمَ
(on the) Day
ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِۚ
(of) the Resurrection?
وَقِيلَ
And it will be said
لِلظَّٰلِمِينَ
to the wrongdoers
ذُوقُوا۟
"Taste

you used (to)
تَكْسِبُونَ
earn"

Afamai yattaqee biwaj hihee sooo'al 'azaabi Yawmal Qiyaamah; wa qeela lizzaali meena zooqoo maa kuntum taksiboon

Then is he who will shield with his face the worst of the punishment on the Day of Resurrection [like one secure from it]? And it will be said to the wrongdoers, "Taste what you used to earn."

Tafsir

كَذَّبَ
Denied
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
مِن

فَأَتَىٰهُمُ
so came upon them

حَيْثُ
where
لَا
not
يَشْعُرُونَ
they perceive

Kazzabal lazeena min qablihim fa ataahumul 'azaabu min haisu laa yash'uroon

Those before them denied, and punishment came upon them from where they did not perceive.

Tafsir

فَأَذَاقَهُمُ
So Allah made them taste
ٱللَّهُ
So Allah made them taste
ٱلْخِزْىَ
the disgrace
فِى
in
ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ
the life
ٱلدُّنْيَاۖ
(of) the world
وَلَعَذَابُ

if
كَانُوا۟
they
يَعْلَمُونَ
knew

Fa azaaqahumul laahul khizya fil hayaatid dunyaa wa la'azaabul Aakirati akbar; law kaanoo ya'lamoon

So Allah made them taste disgrace in worldly life. But the punishment of the Hereafter is greater, if they only knew.

And We have certainly presented for the people in this Quran from every [kind of] example – that they might remember.

[It is] an Arabic Quran, without any deviance that they might become righteous.

Tafsir

ضَرَبَ
Allah sets forth
ٱللَّهُ
Allah sets forth
مَثَلًا
an example
رَّجُلًا
a man
فِيهِ
belonging to
شُرَكَآءُ
partners
مُتَشَٰكِسُونَ
quarreling
وَرَجُلًا
and a man
سَلَمًا
(belonging) exclusively
لِّرَجُلٍ
to one man
هَلْ
are
يَسْتَوِيَانِ
they both equal
مَثَلًاۚ
(in) comparison?
ٱلْحَمْدُ
All praise
لِلَّهِۚ

بَلْ

know

Darabal laahu masalar rajulan feehi shurakaaa'u mutashaakisoona wa rajulan salamal lirajulin hal tastawi yaani masalaa; alhamdu lillaah; bal aksaruhum laa ya'lamoon

Allah presents an example: a man [i.e., slave] owned by quarreling partners and another belonging exclusively to one man – are they equal in comparison? Praise be to Allah! But most of them do not know.

Tafsir

إِنَّكَ
Indeed you
مَيِّتٌ
will die
وَإِنَّهُم

مَّيِّتُونَ
will (also) die

Innaka maiyitunw wa inna hum maiyitunw wa inna hum maiyitoon

Indeed, you are to die, and indeed, they are to die.
