وَاِنْ كَذَّبُوْكَ فَقُلْ لِّيْ عَمَلِيْ وَلَكُمْ عَمَلُكُمْۚ اَنْتُمْ بَرِيْۤـُٔوْنَ مِمَّآ اَعْمَلُ وَاَنَا۠ بَرِيْۤءٌ مِّمَّا تَعْمَلُوْنَ   ( يونس: ٤١ )

wa-in
وَإِن
And if
kadhabūka
كَذَّبُوكَ
they deny you
faqul
فَقُل
then say
لِّى
"For me
ʿamalī
عَمَلِى
(are) my deeds
walakum
وَلَكُمْ
and for you
ʿamalukum
عَمَلُكُمْۖ
(are) your deeds
antum
أَنتُم
You
barīūna
بَرِيٓـُٔونَ
(are) disassociated
mimmā
مِمَّآ
from what
aʿmalu
أَعْمَلُ
I do
wa-anā
وَأَنَا۠
and I am
barīon
بَرِىٓءٌ
disassociated
mimmā
مِّمَّا
from what
taʿmalūna
تَعْمَلُونَ
you do"

And if they deny you, [O Muhammad], then say, "For me are my deeds, and for you are your deeds. You are disassociated from what I do, and I am disassociated from what you do."

Tafsir

وَمِنْهُمْ مَّنْ يَّسْتَمِعُوْنَ اِلَيْكَۗ اَفَاَنْتَ تُسْمِعُ الصُّمَّ وَلَوْ كَانُوْا لَا يَعْقِلُوْنَ   ( يونس: ٤٢ )

wamin'hum
وَمِنْهُم
And among them
man
مَّن
(are some) who
yastamiʿūna
يَسْتَمِعُونَ
listen
ilayka
إِلَيْكَۚ
to you
afa-anta
أَفَأَنتَ
But (can) you
tus'miʿu
تُسْمِعُ
cause the deaf to hear
l-ṣuma
ٱلصُّمَّ
cause the deaf to hear
walaw
وَلَوْ
even though
kānū
كَانُوا۟
they [were]
لَا
(do) not
yaʿqilūna
يَعْقِلُونَ
use reason?

And among them are those who listen to you. But can you cause the deaf to hear [i.e., benefit from this hearing], although they will not use reason?

Tafsir

وَمِنْهُمْ مَّنْ يَّنْظُرُ اِلَيْكَۗ اَفَاَنْتَ تَهْدِى الْعُمْيَ وَلَوْ كَانُوْا لَا يُبْصِرُوْنَ   ( يونس: ٤٣ )

wamin'hum
وَمِنْهُم
And among them
man
مَّن
(are some) who
yanẓuru
يَنظُرُ
look
ilayka
إِلَيْكَۚ
at you
afa-anta
أَفَأَنتَ
But (can) you
tahdī
تَهْدِى
guide
l-ʿum'ya
ٱلْعُمْىَ
the blind
walaw
وَلَوْ
even though
kānū
كَانُوا۟
they [were]
لَا
(do) not
yub'ṣirūna
يُبْصِرُونَ
see?

And among them are those who look at you. But can you guide the blind although they will not [attempt to] see?

Tafsir

اِنَّ اللّٰهَ لَا يَظْلِمُ النَّاسَ شَيْـًٔا وَّلٰكِنَّ النَّاسَ اَنْفُسَهُمْ يَظْلِمُوْنَ  ( يونس: ٤٤ )

inna
إِنَّ
Indeed
l-laha
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
لَا
(does) not
yaẓlimu
يَظْلِمُ
wrong
l-nāsa
ٱلنَّاسَ
the people
shayan
شَيْـًٔا
(in) anything
walākinna
وَلَٰكِنَّ
but
l-nāsa
ٱلنَّاسَ
the people
anfusahum
أَنفُسَهُمْ
wrong themselves
yaẓlimūna
يَظْلِمُونَ
wrong themselves

Indeed, Allah does not wrong the people at all, but it is the people who are wronging themselves.

Tafsir

وَيَوْمَ يَحْشُرُهُمْ كَاَنْ لَّمْ يَلْبَثُوْٓا اِلَّا سَاعَةً مِّنَ النَّهَارِ يَتَعَارَفُوْنَ بَيْنَهُمْۗ قَدْ خَسِرَ الَّذِيْنَ كَذَّبُوْا بِلِقَاۤءِ اللّٰهِ وَمَا كَانُوْا مُهْتَدِيْنَ   ( يونس: ٤٥ )

wayawma
وَيَوْمَ
And the Day
yaḥshuruhum
يَحْشُرُهُمْ
He will gather them
ka-an
كَأَن
as if
lam
لَّمْ
they had not remained
yalbathū
يَلْبَثُوٓا۟
they had not remained
illā
إِلَّا
except
sāʿatan
سَاعَةً
an hour
mina
مِّنَ
of
l-nahāri
ٱلنَّهَارِ
the day
yataʿārafūna
يَتَعَارَفُونَ
they will recognize each other
baynahum
بَيْنَهُمْۚ
between them
qad
قَدْ
Certainly
khasira
خَسِرَ
(will have) lost
alladhīna
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
kadhabū
كَذَّبُوا۟
denied
biliqāi
بِلِقَآءِ
the meeting
l-lahi
ٱللَّهِ
(with) Allah
wamā
وَمَا
and not
kānū
كَانُوا۟
they were
muh'tadīna
مُهْتَدِينَ
the guided ones

And on the Day when He will gather them, [it will be] as if they had not remained [in the world] but an hour of the day, [and] they will know each other. Those will have lost who denied the meeting with Allah and were not guided.

Tafsir

وَاِمَّا نُرِيَنَّكَ بَعْضَ الَّذِيْ نَعِدُهُمْ اَوْ نَتَوَفَّيَنَّكَ فَاِلَيْنَا مَرْجِعُهُمْ ثُمَّ اللّٰهُ شَهِيْدٌ عَلٰى مَا يَفْعَلُوْنَ   ( يونس: ٤٦ )

wa-immā
وَإِمَّا
And whether
nuriyannaka
نُرِيَنَّكَ
We show you
baʿḍa
بَعْضَ
some
alladhī
ٱلَّذِى
(of) that which
naʿiduhum
نَعِدُهُمْ
We promised them
aw
أَوْ
or
natawaffayannaka
نَتَوَفَّيَنَّكَ
We cause you to die
fa-ilaynā
فَإِلَيْنَا
then to Us
marjiʿuhum
مَرْجِعُهُمْ
(is) their return
thumma
ثُمَّ
then
l-lahu
ٱللَّهُ
Allah
shahīdun
شَهِيدٌ
(is) a Witness
ʿalā
عَلَىٰ
over
مَا
what
yafʿalūna
يَفْعَلُونَ
they do

And whether We show you some of what We promise them, [O Muhammad], or We take you in death, to Us is their return; then, [either way], Allah is a witness concerning what they are doing.

Tafsir

وَلِكُلِّ اُمَّةٍ رَّسُوْلٌ ۚفَاِذَا جَاۤءَ رَسُوْلُهُمْ قُضِيَ بَيْنَهُمْ بِالْقِسْطِ وَهُمْ لَا يُظْلَمُوْنَ   ( يونس: ٤٧ )

walikulli
وَلِكُلِّ
And for every
ummatin
أُمَّةٍ
nation
rasūlun
رَّسُولٌۖ
(is) a Messenger
fa-idhā
فَإِذَا
So when
jāa
جَآءَ
comes
rasūluhum
رَسُولُهُمْ
their Messenger
quḍiya
قُضِىَ
it will be judged
baynahum
بَيْنَهُم
between them
bil-qis'ṭi
بِٱلْقِسْطِ
in justice
wahum
وَهُمْ
and they
لَا
(will) not
yuẓ'lamūna
يُظْلَمُونَ
be wronged

And for every nation is a messenger. So when their messenger comes, it will be judged between them in justice, and they will not be wronged.

Tafsir

وَيَقُوْلُوْنَ مَتٰى هٰذَا الْوَعْدُ اِنْ كُنْتُمْ صٰدِقِيْنَ   ( يونس: ٤٨ )

wayaqūlūna
وَيَقُولُونَ
And they say
matā
مَتَىٰ
"When
hādhā
هَٰذَا
(will) this
l-waʿdu
ٱلْوَعْدُ
the promise (be fulfilled)
in
إِن
if
kuntum
كُنتُمْ
you are
ṣādiqīna
صَٰدِقِينَ
truthful?"

And they say, "When is [the fulfillment of] this promise, if you should be truthful?"

Tafsir

قُلْ لَّآ اَمْلِكُ لِنَفْسِيْ ضَرًّا وَّلَا نَفْعًا اِلَّا مَا شَاۤءَ اللّٰهُ ۗ لِكُلِّ اُمَّةٍ اَجَلٌ ۚاِذَا جَاۤءَ اَجَلُهُمْ فَلَا يَسْتَأْخِرُوْنَ سَاعَةً وَّلَا يَسْتَقْدِمُوْنَ   ( يونس: ٤٩ )

Say
لَّآ
"Not
amliku
أَمْلِكُ
I have power
linafsī
لِنَفْسِى
for myself
ḍarran
ضَرًّا
(for) any harm
walā
وَلَا
and not
nafʿan
نَفْعًا
(for) any profit
illā
إِلَّا
except
مَا
what
shāa
شَآءَ
Allah wills
l-lahu
ٱللَّهُۗ
Allah wills
likulli
لِكُلِّ
For every
ummatin
أُمَّةٍ
nation
ajalun
أَجَلٌۚ
(is) a term
idhā
إِذَا
When
jāa
جَآءَ
comes
ajaluhum
أَجَلُهُمْ
their term
falā
فَلَا
then not
yastakhirūna
يَسْتَـْٔخِرُونَ
they remain behind
sāʿatan
سَاعَةًۖ
an hour
walā
وَلَا
and not
yastaqdimūna
يَسْتَقْدِمُونَ
they can precede (it)"

Say, "I possess not for myself any harm or benefit except what Allah should will. For every nation is a [specified] term. When their time has come, then they will not remain behind an hour, nor will they precede [it]."

Tafsir

قُلْ اَرَءَيْتُمْ اِنْ اَتٰىكُمْ عَذَابُهٗ بَيَاتًا اَوْ نَهَارًا مَّاذَا يَسْتَعْجِلُ مِنْهُ الْمُجْرِمُوْنَ  ( يونس: ٥٠ )

qul
قُلْ
Say
ara-aytum
أَرَءَيْتُمْ
"Do you see
in
إِنْ
if
atākum
أَتَىٰكُمْ
comes to you
ʿadhābuhu
عَذَابُهُۥ
His punishment
bayātan
بَيَٰتًا
(by) night
aw
أَوْ
or
nahāran
نَهَارًا
(by) day
mādhā
مَّاذَا
what (portion)
yastaʿjilu
يَسْتَعْجِلُ
of it would (wish to) hasten
min'hu
مِنْهُ
of it would (wish to) hasten
l-muj'rimūna
ٱلْمُجْرِمُونَ
the criminals?"

Say, "Have you considered: if His punishment should come to you by night or by day – for which [aspect] of it would the criminals be impatient?"
