وَلَوْ
And if

ٱلْمَوْتَىٰۗ
the dead
بَل
Nay
لِّلَّهِ
with Allah
ٱلْأَمْرُ

Then do not
يَا۟يْـَٔسِ
know
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
ءَامَنُوٓا۟
believe
أَن
that
لَّوْ
if
يَشَآءُ
had willed
ٱللَّهُ
Allah
لَهَدَى
surely, He would have guided
ٱلنَّاسَ
all?
جَمِيعًاۗ
all of the mankind?
وَلَا
And not
يَزَالُ
will cease
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
كَفَرُوا۟
disbelieve
تُصِيبُهُم
to strike them
بِمَا
for what
صَنَعُوا۟
they did
قَارِعَةٌ

أَوْ
or
تَحُلُّ

مِّن
from

حَتَّىٰ
until
يَأْتِىَ
comes
وَعْدُ
(the) promise
ٱللَّهِۚ
(of) Allah
إِنَّ
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
لَا
(will) not
يُخْلِفُ

ٱلْمِيعَادَ
(in) the Promise

Wa law anna Quraanan suyyirat bihil jibaalu aw qutti'at bihil ardu aw kullima bihil mawtaa; bal lillaahil amru jamee'aa; afalam yai'asil lazeena aamanooo al law yashaaa 'ullaahu lahadan naasa jamee'aa; wa laa yazaalul lazeena kafaroo tuseebuhum bimaa sana'oo qaari'atun aw tahullu qareebam min daarihim hatta yaatiya wa'dul laah; innal laaha laa yukhliful mee'aad

And if there was any Quran [i.e., recitation] by which the mountains would be removed or the earth would be broken apart or the dead would be made to speak, [it would be this Quran], but to Allah belongs the affair entirely. Then have those who believed not accepted that had Allah willed, He would have guided the people, all of them? And those who disbelieve do not cease to be struck, for what they have done, by calamity – or it will descend near their home – until there comes the promise of Allah. Indeed, Allah does not fail in [His] promise.

Tafsir

وَلَقَدِ
And certainly
ٱسْتُهْزِئَ

Wa laqadis tuhzi'a bi Rusulim min qablika fa amlaitu lillazeena kafaroo summa akhaztuhum fakaifa kaana 'iqaab

And already were [other] messengers ridiculed before you, and I extended the time of those who disbelieved; then I seized them, and how [terrible] was My penalty.

Tafsir

أَفَمَنْ
Is then He Who
هُوَ
(He)
قَآئِمٌ
(is) a Maintainer
عَلَىٰ
of
كُلِّ
every
نَفْسٍۭ
soul
بِمَا
for what

it has earned?
وَجَعَلُوا۟
Yet they ascribe
لِلَّهِ
to Allah
شُرَكَآءَ
partners
قُلْ
Say
سَمُّوهُمْۚ
"Name them
أَمْ
Or
تُنَبِّـُٔونَهُۥ
(do) you inform Him
بِمَا
of what
لَا
not
يَعْلَمُ
He knows
فِى
in
ٱلْأَرْضِ
the earth
أَم
or
بِظَٰهِرٍ
of the apparent
مِّنَ
of
ٱلْقَوْلِۗ
the words?"
بَلْ
Nay
زُيِّنَ
(is) made fair-seeming
لِلَّذِينَ
to those who
كَفَرُوا۟
disbelieve
مَكْرُهُمْ
their plotting
وَصُدُّوا۟
and they are hindered
عَنِ
from
ٱلسَّبِيلِۗ
the Path
وَمَن
And whoever
يُضْلِلِ
(by) Allah
ٱللَّهُ
Allah lets go astray
فَمَا
then not
لَهُۥ
for him
مِنْ
any

guide

Afaman Huwa qaaa'imun 'alaa kulli nafsim bimaa kasabat; wa ja'aloo illlaahi shurakaaa'a qul samoohum; am tunabbi'oona hoo bimaa laa ya'lamu fil ardi; am bizaahirim minal qawl; bal zuyyina lillazeena kafaroo makruhum wa suddoo 'anis sabeel; wa mai yudlilil laaahu famaa lahoo min haad;

Then is He who is a maintainer of every soul, [knowing] what it has earned, [like any other]? But to Allah they have attributed partners. Say, "Name them. Or do you inform Him of that which He knows not upon the earth or of what is apparent [i.e., alleged] of speech?" Rather, their [own] plan has been made attractive to those who disbelieve, and they have been averted from the way. And whomever Allah sends astray – there will be for him no guide.

Tafsir

لَّهُمْ
For them
عَذَابٌ
(is) a punishment
فِى
in
ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ
the life
ٱلدُّنْيَاۖ
(of) the world
وَلَعَذَابُ
and surely the punishment

(of) the Hereafter
أَشَقُّۖ

And not

ٱللَّهِ
Allah
مِن
any
وَاقٍ
defender

Lahum 'azaabun fil hayaatid dunyaa wa la'azaabul Aakhirati ashaaq, wa maa lahum minal laahi min-waaq

For them will be punishment in the life of [this] world, and the punishment of the Hereafter is more severe. And they will not have from Allah any protector.

مَّثَلُ
The example
ٱلْجَنَّةِ
of Paradise

This
عُقْبَى
(is the) end
ٱلَّذِينَ
of those who
ٱتَّقَوا۟ۖ
(are) righteous
وَّعُقْبَى
and (the) end
ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ
(of) the disbelievers
ٱلنَّارُ
(is) the Fire

Masalul Jannatil latee wu'idal muttaqoona tajree min tahtihal anhaaru ukuluhaa daaa'imunw wa zilluhaa; tilka uqbal lazeenat taqaw wa 'uqbal kafireenan Naar

The example [i.e., description] of Paradise, which the righteous have been promised, is [that] beneath it rivers flow. Its fruit is lasting, and its shade. That is the consequence for the righteous, and the consequence for the disbelievers is the Fire.

Tafsir

وَٱلَّذِينَ

Wallazeena aatainaa humul Kitaaba yafrahoona bimaa unzila ilaika wa minal Ahzaabi mai yunkiru ba'dah; qul innamaa umirtu an a'budal laaha wa laaa ushrika bih; ilaihi ad'oo wa ilaihi maab

And [the believers among] those to whom We have given the [previous] Scripture rejoice at what has been revealed to you, [O Muhammad], but among the [opposing] factions are those who deny part of it [i.e., the Quran]. Say, "I have only been commanded to worship Allah and not associate [anything] with Him. To Him I invite, and to Him is my return."

Tafsir

وَكَذَٰلِكَ
And thus
أَنزَلْنَٰهُ
We have revealed it

Wa kazaalika anzalnaahu hukman 'Arabiyyaa; wa la'init taba'ta ahwaaa 'ahum ba'da maa jaaa'aka minal 'ilmi maa laka minal laahi minw waliyinw wa laa waaq

And thus We have revealed it as an Arabic legislation. And if you should follow their inclinations after what has come to you of knowledge, you would not have against Allah any ally or any protector.

And We have already sent messengers before you and assigned to them wives and descendants. And it was not for a messenger to come with a sign except by permission of Allah. For every term is a decree.
