فَلَمَّا تَرَاۤءَ الْجَمْعٰنِ قَالَ اَصْحٰبُ مُوْسٰٓى اِنَّا لَمُدْرَكُوْنَ ۚ   ( الشعراء: ٦١ )

فَلَمَّا
Then when
tarāā
تَرَٰٓءَا
saw each other
l-jamʿāni
ٱلْجَمْعَانِ
the two hosts
qāla
قَالَ
said
aṣḥābu
أَصْحَٰبُ
(the) companions
mūsā
مُوسَىٰٓ
(of) Musa
innā
إِنَّا
"Indeed we
lamud'rakūna
لَمُدْرَكُونَ
(are) surely to be overtaken"

And when the two companies saw one another, the companions of Moses said, "Indeed, we are to be overtaken!"

Tafsir

قَالَ كَلَّاۗ اِنَّ مَعِيَ رَبِّيْ سَيَهْدِيْنِ   ( الشعراء: ٦٢ )

qāla
قَالَ
He said
kallā
كَلَّآۖ
"Nay
inna
إِنَّ
indeed
maʿiya
مَعِىَ
with me
rabbī
رَبِّى
(is) my Lord
sayahdīni
سَيَهْدِينِ
He will guide me"

[Moses] said, "No! Indeed, with me is my Lord; He will guide me."

Tafsir

فَاَوْحَيْنَآ اِلٰى مُوْسٰٓى اَنِ اضْرِبْ بِّعَصَاكَ الْبَحْرَۗ فَانْفَلَقَ فَكَانَ كُلُّ فِرْقٍ كَالطَّوْدِ الْعَظِيْمِ ۚ   ( الشعراء: ٦٣ )

fa-awḥaynā
فَأَوْحَيْنَآ
Then We inspired
ilā
إِلَىٰ
to
mūsā
مُوسَىٰٓ
Musa
ani
أَنِ
[that]
iḍ'rib
ٱضْرِب
"Strike
biʿaṣāka
بِّعَصَاكَ
with your staff
l-baḥra
ٱلْبَحْرَۖ
the sea"
fa-infalaqa
فَٱنفَلَقَ
So it parted
fakāna
فَكَانَ
and became
kullu
كُلُّ
each
fir'qin
فِرْقٍ
part
kal-ṭawdi
كَٱلطَّوْدِ
like the mountain
l-ʿaẓīmi
ٱلْعَظِيمِ
[the] great

Then We inspired to Moses, "Strike with your staff the sea," and it parted, and each portion was like a great towering mountain.

Tafsir

وَاَزْلَفْنَا ثَمَّ الْاٰخَرِيْنَ ۚ   ( الشعراء: ٦٤ )

wa-azlafnā
وَأَزْلَفْنَا
And We brought near
thamma
ثَمَّ
there
l-ākharīna
ٱلْءَاخَرِينَ
the others

And We advanced thereto the others [i.e., the pursuers].

Tafsir

وَاَنْجَيْنَا مُوْسٰى وَمَنْ مَّعَهٗٓ اَجْمَعِيْنَ ۚ   ( الشعراء: ٦٥ )

wa-anjaynā
وَأَنجَيْنَا
And We saved
mūsā
مُوسَىٰ
Musa
waman
وَمَن
and who
maʿahu
مَّعَهُۥٓ
(were) with him
ajmaʿīna
أَجْمَعِينَ
all

And We saved Moses and those with him, all together.

Tafsir

ثُمَّ اَغْرَقْنَا الْاٰخَرِيْنَ ۗ   ( الشعراء: ٦٦ )

thumma
ثُمَّ
Then
aghraqnā
أَغْرَقْنَا
We drowned
l-ākharīna
ٱلْءَاخَرِينَ
the others

Then We drowned the others.

Tafsir

اِنَّ فِيْ ذٰلِكَ لَاٰيَةً ۗوَمَا كَانَ اَكْثَرُهُمْ مُّؤْمِنِيْنَ   ( الشعراء: ٦٧ )

inna
إِنَّ
Indeed
فِى
in
dhālika
ذَٰلِكَ
that
laāyatan
لَءَايَةًۖ
surely (is) a Sign
wamā
وَمَا
but not
kāna
كَانَ
are
aktharuhum
أَكْثَرُهُم
most of them
mu'minīna
مُّؤْمِنِينَ
believers

Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.

Tafsir

وَاِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ الْعَزِيْزُ الرَّحِيْمُ ࣖ  ( الشعراء: ٦٨ )

wa-inna
وَإِنَّ
And indeed
rabbaka
رَبَّكَ
your Lord
lahuwa
لَهُوَ
surely He
l-ʿazīzu
ٱلْعَزِيزُ
(is) the All-Mighty
l-raḥīmu
ٱلرَّحِيمُ
the Most Merciful

And indeed, your Lord – He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.

Tafsir

وَاتْلُ عَلَيْهِمْ نَبَاَ اِبْرٰهِيْمَ ۘ   ( الشعراء: ٦٩ )

wa-ut'lu
وَٱتْلُ
And recite
ʿalayhim
عَلَيْهِمْ
to them
naba-a
نَبَأَ
(the) news
ib'rāhīma
إِبْرَٰهِيمَ
(of) Ibrahim

And recite to them the news of Abraham,

Tafsir

اِذْ قَالَ لِاَبِيْهِ وَقَوْمِهٖ مَا تَعْبُدُوْنَ   ( الشعراء: ٧٠ )

When

he said
li-abīhi
لِأَبِيهِ
to his father
waqawmihi
وَقَوْمِهِۦ
and his people
مَا
"What
taʿbudūna
تَعْبُدُونَ
(do) you worship?"

When he said to his father and his people, "What do you worship?"
