فَلَمَّا
Then when
تَرَٰٓءَا
saw each other
ٱلْجَمْعَانِ
the two hosts
قَالَ
said
أَصْحَٰبُ
(the) companions
مُوسَىٰٓ
(of) Musa
إِنَّا
"Indeed we
لَمُدْرَكُونَ
(are) surely to be overtaken"

Falammaa taraaa'al jam'aani qaala as haabu Moosaaa innaa lamudrakoon

And when the two companies saw one another, the companions of Moses said, "Indeed, we are to be overtaken!"

Tafsir

قَالَ
He said
كَلَّآۖ
"Nay
إِنَّ
indeed
مَعِىَ
with me
رَبِّى
(is) my Lord
سَيَهْدِينِ
He will guide me"

Qaala kallaaa inna ma'iya Rabbee sa yahdeen

[Moses] said, "No! Indeed, with me is my Lord; He will guide me."

Tafsir

فَأَوْحَيْنَآ
Then We inspired
إِلَىٰ
to
مُوسَىٰٓ
Musa
أَنِ
[that]
ٱضْرِب
"Strike
بِّعَصَاكَ
with your staff
ٱلْبَحْرَۖ
the sea"
فَٱنفَلَقَ
So it parted
فَكَانَ
and became
كُلُّ
each
فِرْقٍ
part
كَٱلطَّوْدِ
like the mountain
ٱلْعَظِيمِ
[the] great

Fa awhainaaa ilaa Moosaaa anidrib bi'asaakal bahra fanfalaqa fakaana kullu firqin kattawdil 'azeem

Then We inspired to Moses, "Strike with your staff the sea," and it parted, and each portion was like a great towering mountain.

Tafsir

وَأَزْلَفْنَا
And We brought near
ثَمَّ
there
ٱلْءَاخَرِينَ
the others

Wa azlafnaa sammal aakhareen

And We advanced thereto the others [i.e., the pursuers].

Tafsir

وَأَنجَيْنَا
And We saved
مُوسَىٰ
Musa
وَمَن
and who
مَّعَهُۥٓ
(were) with him
أَجْمَعِينَ
all

Wa anjainaa Moosaa wa mam ma'ahooo ajma'een

And We saved Moses and those with him, all together.

Tafsir

ثُمَّ
Then
أَغْرَقْنَا
We drowned
ٱلْءَاخَرِينَ
the others

Summa aghraqnal aakhareen

Then We drowned the others.

Tafsir

إِنَّ
Indeed
فِى
in
ذَٰلِكَ
that
لَءَايَةًۖ
surely (is) a Sign
وَمَا
but not
كَانَ
are
أَكْثَرُهُم
most of them
مُّؤْمِنِينَ
believers

Inna fee zaalika la Aayaah; wa maa kaana aksaru hu mu'mineen

Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.

Tafsir

وَإِنَّ
And indeed
رَبَّكَ
your Lord
لَهُوَ
surely He
ٱلْعَزِيزُ
(is) the All-Mighty
ٱلرَّحِيمُ
the Most Merciful

Wa inna Rabbaka la Huwal 'Azeezur Raheem

And indeed, your Lord – He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.

Tafsir

وَٱتْلُ
And recite
عَلَيْهِمْ
to them
نَبَأَ
(the) news
إِبْرَٰهِيمَ
(of) Ibrahim

Watlu 'alaihim naba-a Ibraaheem

And recite to them the news of Abraham,

Tafsir

إِذْ
When
قَالَ
he said
لِأَبِيهِ
to his father
وَقَوْمِهِۦ
and his people
مَا
"What
تَعْبُدُونَ
(do) you worship?"

Iz qaala li abeehi wa qawmihee maa ta'budoon

When he said to his father and his people, "What do you worship?"
