قَالُوا۟
They will say
سُبْحَٰنَكَ
"Glory be to You
أَنتَ
You
وَلِيُّنَا
(are) our Protector
مِن
not them
دُونِهِمۖ
not them
بَلْ
Nay
كَانُوا۟
they used
يَعْبُدُونَ
(to) worship
ٱلْجِنَّۖ
the jinn
أَكْثَرُهُم
most of them
بِهِم
in them
مُّؤْمِنُونَ
(were) believers"

Qaaloo Subhaanaka Anta waliyyunaa min doonihim bal kaanoo ya'budoonal jinna aksaruhum bihim mu'minoon

They will say, "Exalted are You! You, [O Allah], are our benefactor excluding [i.e., not] them. Rather, they used to worship the jinn; most of them were believers in them."

Tafsir

فَٱلْيَوْمَ
But today
لَا
not
يَمْلِكُ
possess power
بَعْضُكُمْ
some of you
لِبَعْضٍ
on others
نَّفْعًا
to benefit
وَلَا
and not
ضَرًّا
to harm
وَنَقُولُ
and We will say
لِلَّذِينَ
to those
ظَلَمُوا۟
who wronged
ذُوقُوا۟
"Taste
عَذَابَ
(the) punishment
ٱلنَّارِ
(of) the Fire
ٱلَّتِى
which
كُنتُم
you used
بِهَا
to [it]
تُكَذِّبُونَ
deny"

Fal Yawma laa yamliku ba'dukum liba'din naf'anw wa laa darraa; wa naqoolu lilzeena zalamoo zooqoo 'azaaban Naaril latee kuntum bihaa tukazziboon

But today [i.e., the Day of Judgement] you do not hold for one another [the power of] benefit or harm, and We will say to those who wronged, "Taste the punishment of the Fire, which you used to deny."

Tafsir

وَإِذَا
And when
تُتْلَىٰ
are recited
عَلَيْهِمْ
to them
ءَايَٰتُنَا
Our Verses
بَيِّنَٰتٍ
clear
قَالُوا۟
they say
مَا
"Not
هَٰذَآ
(is) this
إِلَّا
but
رَجُلٌ
a man
يُرِيدُ
who wishes
أَن
to
يَصُدَّكُمْ
hinder you
عَمَّا
from what
كَانَ
used
يَعْبُدُ
(to) worship
ءَابَآؤُكُمْ
your forefathers"
وَقَالُوا۟
And they say
مَا
"Not
هَٰذَآ
(is) this
إِلَّآ
except
إِفْكٌ
a lie
مُّفْتَرًىۚ
invented"
وَقَالَ
And said
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
كَفَرُوا۟
disbelieved
لِلْحَقِّ
about the truth
لَمَّا
when
جَآءَهُمْ
it came to them
إِنْ
"Not
هَٰذَآ
(is) this
إِلَّا
except
سِحْرٌ
a magic
مُّبِينٌ
obvious"

Wa izaa tutlaa 'alaihim Aayaatunaa baiyinaatin qaaloo maa haazaa illaa rajuluny yureedu ai-yasuddakum 'ammaa kaana ya'budu aabaaa'ukum wa qaaloo maa haazaaa illaaa ifkum muftaraa; wa qaalal lazeena kafaroo lilhaqqi lammaa jaaa'ahum in haazaaa illaa sihrum mubeen

And when Our verses are recited to them as clear evidences, they say, "This is not but a man who wishes to avert you from that which your fathers were worshipping." And they say, "This is not except a lie invented." And those who disbelieve say of the truth when it has come to them, "This is not but obvious magic."

Tafsir

وَمَآ
And not
ءَاتَيْنَٰهُم
We (had) given them
مِّن
any
كُتُبٍ
Scriptures
يَدْرُسُونَهَاۖ
which they could study
وَمَآ
and not
أَرْسَلْنَآ
We sent
إِلَيْهِمْ
to them
قَبْلَكَ
before you
مِن
any
نَّذِيرٍ
warner

Wa maaa aatainaahum min Kutubiny yadrusoonahaa wa maaa arsalnaaa ilaihim qablaka min nazeer

And We had not given them any scriptures which they could study, and We had not sent to them before you, [O Muhammad], any warner.

Tafsir

وَكَذَّبَ
And denied
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
مِن
(were) before them
قَبْلِهِمْ
(were) before them
وَمَا
and not
بَلَغُوا۟
they have attained
مِعْشَارَ
a tenth
مَآ
(of) what
ءَاتَيْنَٰهُمْ
We (had) given them
فَكَذَّبُوا۟
But they denied
رُسُلِىۖ
My Messengers
فَكَيْفَ
so how
كَانَ
was
نَكِيرِ
My rejection?

Wa kazzabal lazeena min qablihim wa maa balaghoo mi'shaara maaa aatainaahum fakazzaboo Rusulee; fakaifa kaana nakeer

And those before them denied, and they [i.e., the people of Makkah] have not attained a tenth of what We had given them. But they [i.e., the former peoples] denied My messengers, so how [terrible] was My reproach.

Tafsir

قُلْ
Say
إِنَّمَآ
"Only
أَعِظُكُم
I advise you
بِوَٰحِدَةٍۖ
for one (thing)
أَن
that
تَقُومُوا۟
you stand
لِلَّهِ
for Allah
مَثْنَىٰ
(in) pairs
وَفُرَٰدَىٰ
and (as) individuals
ثُمَّ
then
تَتَفَكَّرُوا۟ۚ
reflect"
مَا
Not
بِصَاحِبِكُم
(is in) your companion
مِّن
any
جِنَّةٍۚ
madness
إِنْ
Not
هُوَ
he
إِلَّا
(is) except
نَذِيرٌ
a warner
لَّكُم
for you
بَيْنَ
before
يَدَىْ
before
عَذَابٍ
a punishment
شَدِيدٍ
severe"

Qul innamaaa a'izukum biwaahidatin an taqoomoo lillaahi masnaa wa furaadaa summa tatafakkaroo; maa bisaahibikum min jinnah; in huwa illaa nazeerul lakum baina yadai 'azaabin shadeed

Say, "I only advise you of one [thing] – that you stand for Allah, [seeking truth] in pairs and individually, and then give thought." There is not in your companion any madness. He is only a warner to you before a severe punishment.

Tafsir

قُلْ
Say
مَا
"Not
سَأَلْتُكُم
I ask you
مِّنْ
for
أَجْرٍ
any payment
فَهُوَ
but it (is)
لَكُمْۖ
for you
إِنْ
Not
أَجْرِىَ
(is) my payment
إِلَّا
but
عَلَى
from
ٱللَّهِۖ
Allah
وَهُوَ
And He
عَلَىٰ
(is) over
كُلِّ
all
شَىْءٍ
things
شَهِيدٌ
a Witness"

Qul maa sa-altukum min ajrin fahuwa lakum in ajriya illaa 'alal laahi wa Huwa 'alaa kullin shai-in Shaheed

Say, "Whatever payment I might have asked of you – it is yours. My payment is only from Allah, and He is, over all things, Witness."

Tafsir

قُلْ
Say
إِنَّ
"Indeed
رَبِّى
my Lord
يَقْذِفُ
projects
بِٱلْحَقِّ
the truth
عَلَّٰمُ
(the) All-Knower
ٱلْغُيُوبِ
(of) the unseen"

Qul inna Rabbee yaqzifu bilhaqq 'Allaamul Ghuyoob

Say, "Indeed, my Lord projects the truth, Knower of the unseen."

Tafsir

قُلْ
Say
جَآءَ
"Has come
ٱلْحَقُّ
the truth
وَمَا
and not
يُبْدِئُ
(can) originate
ٱلْبَٰطِلُ
the falsehood
وَمَا
and not
يُعِيدُ
repeat"

Qul jaaa'al haqqu wa maa yubdi'ul baatilu wa maa yu'eed

Say, "The truth has come, and falsehood can neither begin [anything] nor repeat [it]."

Tafsir

قُلْ
Say
إِن
"If
ضَلَلْتُ
I err
فَإِنَّمَآ
then only
أَضِلُّ
I will err
عَلَىٰ
against
نَفْسِىۖ
myself
وَإِنِ
But if
ٱهْتَدَيْتُ
I am guided
فَبِمَا
then it is by what
يُوحِىٓ
reveals
إِلَىَّ
to me
رَبِّىٓۚ
my Lord
إِنَّهُۥ
Indeed He
سَمِيعٌ
(is) All-Hearer
قَرِيبٌ
Ever-Near"

Qul in dalaltu fainnamaaa adillu 'alaa nafsee wa inih-tadaitu fabimaa yoohee ilaiya Rabbee; innahoo Samee'un Qareeb

Say, "If I should err, I would only err against myself. But if I am guided, it is by what my Lord reveals to me. Indeed, He is Hearing and near."
