اِنَّا لَمَّا طَغَا الْمَاۤءُ حَمَلْنٰكُمْ فِى الْجَارِيَةِۙ  ( الحاقة: ١١ )

innā
إِنَّا
Indeed We
lammā
لَمَّا
when
ṭaghā
طَغَا
overflowed
l-māu
ٱلْمَآءُ
the water
ḥamalnākum
حَمَلْنَٰكُمْ
We carried you
فِى
in
l-jāriyati
ٱلْجَارِيَةِ
the sailing (ship)

Indeed, when the water overflowed, We carried you [i.e., your ancestors] in the sailing ship

Tafsir

لِنَجْعَلَهَا لَكُمْ تَذْكِرَةً وَّتَعِيَهَآ اُذُنٌ وَّاعِيَةٌ   ( الحاقة: ١٢ )

linajʿalahā
لِنَجْعَلَهَا
That We might make it
lakum
لَكُمْ
for you
tadhkiratan
تَذْكِرَةً
a reminder
wataʿiyahā
وَتَعِيَهَآ
and would be conscious of it
udhunun
أُذُنٌ
an ear
wāʿiyatun
وَٰعِيَةٌ
conscious

That We might make it for you a reminder and [that] a conscious ear would be conscious of it.

Tafsir

فَاِذَا نُفِخَ فِى الصُّوْرِ نَفْخَةٌ وَّاحِدَةٌ ۙ  ( الحاقة: ١٣ )

fa-idhā
فَإِذَا
Then when
nufikha
نُفِخَ
is blown
فِى
in
l-ṣūri
ٱلصُّورِ
the trumpet -
nafkhatun
نَفْخَةٌ
a blast
wāḥidatun
وَٰحِدَةٌ
single

Then when the Horn is blown with one blast

Tafsir

وَّحُمِلَتِ الْاَرْضُ وَالْجِبَالُ فَدُكَّتَا دَكَّةً وَّاحِدَةًۙ  ( الحاقة: ١٤ )

waḥumilati
وَحُمِلَتِ
And are lifted
l-arḍu
ٱلْأَرْضُ
the earth
wal-jibālu
وَٱلْجِبَالُ
and the mountains
fadukkatā
فَدُكَّتَا
and crushed
dakkatan
دَكَّةً
(with) a crushing
wāḥidatan
وَٰحِدَةً
single

And the earth and the mountains are lifted and leveled with one blow [i.e., stroke] –

Tafsir

فَيَوْمَىِٕذٍ وَّقَعَتِ الْوَاقِعَةُۙ  ( الحاقة: ١٥ )

fayawma-idhin
فَيَوْمَئِذٍ
Then (on) that Day
waqaʿati
وَقَعَتِ
will occur
l-wāqiʿatu
ٱلْوَاقِعَةُ
the Occurrence

Then on that Day, the Occurrence [i.e., Resurrection] will occur,

Tafsir

وَانْشَقَّتِ السَّمَاۤءُ فَهِيَ يَوْمَىِٕذٍ وَّاهِيَةٌۙ  ( الحاقة: ١٦ )

wa-inshaqqati
وَٱنشَقَّتِ
And will split
l-samāu
ٱلسَّمَآءُ
the heaven
fahiya
فَهِىَ
so it
yawma-idhin
يَوْمَئِذٍ
(is on) that Day
wāhiyatun
وَاهِيَةٌ
frail

And the heaven will split [open], for that Day it is infirm.

Tafsir

وَّالْمَلَكُ عَلٰٓى اَرْجَاۤىِٕهَاۗ وَيَحْمِلُ عَرْشَ رَبِّكَ فَوْقَهُمْ يَوْمَىِٕذٍ ثَمٰنِيَةٌ ۗ  ( الحاقة: ١٧ )

wal-malaku
وَٱلْمَلَكُ
And the Angels
ʿalā
عَلَىٰٓ
(will be) on
arjāihā
أَرْجَآئِهَاۚ
its edges
wayaḥmilu
وَيَحْمِلُ
and will bear
ʿarsha
عَرْشَ
(the) Throne
rabbika
رَبِّكَ
(of) your Lord
fawqahum
فَوْقَهُمْ
above them
yawma-idhin
يَوْمَئِذٍ
that Day
thamāniyatun
ثَمَٰنِيَةٌ
eight

And the angels are at its edges. And there will bear the Throne of your Lord above them, that Day, eight [of them].

Tafsir

يَوْمَىِٕذٍ تُعْرَضُوْنَ لَا تَخْفٰى مِنْكُمْ خَافِيَةٌ   ( الحاقة: ١٨ )

yawma-idhin
يَوْمَئِذٍ
That Day
tuʿ'raḍūna
تُعْرَضُونَ
you will be exhibited
لَا
not
takhfā
تَخْفَىٰ
will be hidden
minkum
مِنكُمْ
among you
khāfiyatun
خَافِيَةٌ
any secret

That Day, you will be exhibited [for judgement]; not hidden among you is anything concealed.

Tafsir

فَاَمَّا مَنْ اُوْتِيَ كِتٰبَهٗ بِيَمِيْنِهٖ فَيَقُوْلُ هَاۤؤُمُ اقْرَءُوْا كِتٰبِيَهْۚ   ( الحاقة: ١٩ )

fa-ammā
فَأَمَّا
Then as for
man
مَنْ
(him) who
ūtiya
أُوتِىَ
is given
kitābahu
كِتَٰبَهُۥ
his record
biyamīnihi
بِيَمِينِهِۦ
in his right hand
fayaqūlu
فَيَقُولُ
will say
hāumu
هَآؤُمُ
"Here
iq'raū
ٱقْرَءُوا۟
read
kitābiyah
كِتَٰبِيَهْ
my record!

So as for he who is given his record in his right hand, he will say, "Here, read my record!

Tafsir

اِنِّيْ ظَنَنْتُ اَنِّيْ مُلٰقٍ حِسَابِيَهْۚ  ( الحاقة: ٢٠ )

innī
إِنِّى
Indeed I
ẓanantu
ظَنَنتُ
was certain
annī
أَنِّى
that I
mulāqin
مُلَٰقٍ
(will) meet
ḥisābiyah
حِسَابِيَهْ
my account"

Indeed, I was certain that I would be meeting my account."
