إِنَّهُۥ
Indeed he
مِنْ
(was) of
عِبَادِنَا
Our slaves
ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
believing

Innahoo min 'ibaadinal mu'mineen

Indeed, he was of Our believing servants.

Tafsir

ثُمَّ
Then
أَغْرَقْنَا
We drowned
ٱلْءَاخَرِينَ
the others

Summa aghraqnal aakhareen

Then We drowned the others [i.e., disbelievers].

Tafsir

وَإِنَّ
And indeed
مِن
among
شِيعَتِهِۦ
his kind
لَإِبْرَٰهِيمَ
(was) surely Ibrahim

Wa ina min shee'atihee la Ibraaheem

And indeed, among his kind was Abraham,

Tafsir

إِذْ
When
جَآءَ
he came
رَبَّهُۥ
(to) his Lord
بِقَلْبٍ
with a heart
سَلِيمٍ
sound

Iz jaaa'a Rabbahoo bi qalbin saleem

When he came to his Lord with a sound heart

Tafsir

إِذْ
When
قَالَ
he said
لِأَبِيهِ
to his father
وَقَوْمِهِۦ
and his people
مَاذَا
"What is it
تَعْبُدُونَ
you worship?

Iz qaala li abeehi wa qawmihee maazaa ta'budoon

[And] when he said to his father and his people, "What do you worship?

أَئِفْكًا
Is it falsehood -
ءَالِهَةً
gods
دُونَ
other than
ٱللَّهِ
Allah -
تُرِيدُونَ
(that) you desire?

A'ifkan aalihatan doonal laahi tureedoon

Is it falsehood [as] gods other than Allah you desire?

Tafsir

فَمَا
Then what
ظَنُّكُم
(do) you think
بِرَبِّ
about (the) Lord
ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ
(of) the worlds?"

Famaa zannukum bi Rabbil'aalameen

Then what is your thought about the Lord of the worlds?"

Tafsir

فَنَظَرَ
Then he glanced
نَظْرَةً
a glance
فِى
at
ٱلنُّجُومِ
the stars

Fanazara nazratan finnujoom

And he cast a look at the stars.

Tafsir

فَقَالَ
And he said
إِنِّى
"Indeed I am
سَقِيمٌ
sick"

Faqaala inee saqeem

And said, "Indeed, I am [about to be] ill."

Tafsir

فَتَوَلَّوْا۟
So they turned away
عَنْهُ
from him
مُدْبِرِينَ
departing

Fatawallaw 'anhu mudbireen

So they turned away from him, departing.
