لِمِثْلِ
For (the) like
هَٰذَا
(of) this
فَلْيَعْمَلِ
let work
ٱلْعَٰمِلُونَ
the workers

Limisli haaza falya'ma lil 'aamiloon

For the like of this let the workers [on earth] work.

Tafsir

أَذَٰلِكَ
Is that
خَيْرٌ
better
نُّزُلًا
(as) hospitality
أَمْ
or
شَجَرَةُ
(the) tree
ٱلزَّقُّومِ
(of) Zaqqum?

Azaalika khairun nuzulan am shajaratuz Zaqqom

Is that [i.e., Paradise] a better accommodation or the tree of zaqqum?

Tafsir

إِنَّا
Indeed We
جَعَلْنَٰهَا
[We] have made it
فِتْنَةً
a trial
لِّلظَّٰلِمِينَ
for the wrongdoers

Innaa ja'alnaahaa fitnatal lizzaalimeen

Indeed, We have made it a torment for the wrongdoers.

Tafsir

إِنَّهَا
Indeed it
شَجَرَةٌ
(is) a tree
تَخْرُجُ
that grows
فِىٓ
in
أَصْلِ
(the) bottom
ٱلْجَحِيمِ
(of) the Hellfire

Innahaa shajaratun takhruju feee aslil Jaheem

Indeed, it is a tree issuing from the bottom of the Hellfire,

Tafsir

طَلْعُهَا
Its emerging fruit
كَأَنَّهُۥ
(is) as if it
رُءُوسُ
(was) heads
ٱلشَّيَٰطِينِ
(of) the devils

Tal'uhaa ka annahoo ru'oosush Shayaateen

Its emerging fruit as if it was heads of the devils.

Tafsir

فَإِنَّهُمْ
And indeed they
لَءَاكِلُونَ
(will) surely eat
مِنْهَا
from it
فَمَالِـُٔونَ
and fill
مِنْهَا
with it
ٱلْبُطُونَ
(their) bellies

Fa innahum la aakiloona minhaa famaali'oona minhal butoon

And indeed, they will eat from it and fill with it their bellies.

Tafsir

ثُمَّ
Then
إِنَّ
indeed
لَهُمْ
for them
عَلَيْهَا
in it
لَشَوْبًا
(is) a mixture
مِّنْ
of
حَمِيمٍ
boiling water

Summa inna lahum 'alaihaa lashawbam min hameem

Then indeed, they will have after it a mixture of scalding water.

Tafsir

ثُمَّ
Then
إِنَّ
indeed
مَرْجِعَهُمْ
their return
لَإِلَى
(will) surely be to
ٱلْجَحِيمِ
the Hellfire

Summa inna marji'ahum la ilal Jaheem

Then indeed, their return will be to the Hellfire.

إِنَّهُمْ
Indeed they
أَلْفَوْا۟
found
ءَابَآءَهُمْ
their fathers
ضَآلِّينَ
astray

Innahum alfaw aabaaa'ahum daaalleen

Indeed they found their fathers astray.

Tafsir

فَهُمْ
So they
عَلَىٰٓ
on
ءَاثَٰرِهِمْ
their footsteps
يُهْرَعُونَ
they hastened

Fahum 'alaa aasaarihim yuhra'oon

So they hastened [to follow] in their footsteps.
