وَاذْكُرْ عَبْدَنَآ اَيُّوْبَۘ اِذْ نَادٰى رَبَّهٗٓ اَنِّيْ مَسَّنِيَ الشَّيْطٰنُ بِنُصْبٍ وَّعَذَابٍۗ  ( ص: ٤١ )

wa-udh'kur
وَٱذْكُرْ
And remember
ʿabdanā
عَبْدَنَآ
Our slave
ayyūba
أَيُّوبَ
Ayyub
idh
إِذْ
when
nādā
نَادَىٰ
he called
rabbahu
رَبَّهُۥٓ
his Lord
annī
أَنِّى
"That [I]
massaniya
مَسَّنِىَ
has touched me
l-shayṭānu
ٱلشَّيْطَٰنُ
Shaitaan
binuṣ'bin
بِنُصْبٍ
with distress
waʿadhābin
وَعَذَابٍ
and suffering"

And remember Our servant Job, when he called to his Lord, "Indeed, Satan has touched me with hardship and torment."

Tafsir

اُرْكُضْ بِرِجْلِكَۚ هٰذَا مُغْتَسَلٌۢ بَارِدٌ وَّشَرَابٌ  ( ص: ٤٢ )

ur'kuḍ
ٱرْكُضْ
"Strike
birij'lika
بِرِجْلِكَۖ
with your foot
hādhā
هَٰذَا
This
mugh'tasalun
مُغْتَسَلٌۢ
(is a spring) of water to bathe
bāridun
بَارِدٌ
cool
washarābun
وَشَرَابٌ
and a drink"

[So he was told], "Strike [the ground] with your foot; this is a [spring for a] cool bath and drink."

Tafsir

وَوَهَبْنَا لَهٗٓ اَهْلَهٗ وَمِثْلَهُمْ مَّعَهُمْ رَحْمَةً مِّنَّا وَذِكْرٰى لِاُولِى الْاَلْبَابِ  ( ص: ٤٣ )

wawahabnā
وَوَهَبْنَا
And We granted
lahu
لَهُۥٓ
[to] him
ahlahu
أَهْلَهُۥ
his family
wamith'lahum
وَمِثْلَهُم
and a like of them
maʿahum
مَّعَهُمْ
with them
raḥmatan
رَحْمَةً
a Mercy
minnā
مِّنَّا
from Us
wadhik'rā
وَذِكْرَىٰ
and a Reminder
li-ulī
لِأُو۟لِى
for those of understanding
l-albābi
ٱلْأَلْبَٰبِ
for those of understanding

And We granted him his family and a like [number] with them as mercy from Us and a reminder for those of understanding.

Tafsir

وَخُذْ بِيَدِكَ ضِغْثًا فَاضْرِبْ بِّهٖ وَلَا تَحْنَثْ ۗاِنَّا وَجَدْنٰهُ صَابِرًا ۗنِعْمَ الْعَبْدُ ۗاِنَّهٗٓ اَوَّابٌ  ( ص: ٤٤ )

wakhudh
وَخُذْ
"And take
biyadika
بِيَدِكَ
in your hand
ḍigh'than
ضِغْثًا
a bunch
fa-iḍ'rib
فَٱضْرِب
and strike
bihi
بِّهِۦ
with it
walā
وَلَا
and (do) not
taḥnath
تَحْنَثْۗ
break (your) oath"
innā
إِنَّا
Indeed We
wajadnāhu
وَجَدْنَٰهُ
[We] found him
ṣābiran
صَابِرًاۚ
patient
niʿ'ma
نِّعْمَ
an excellent
l-ʿabdu
ٱلْعَبْدُۖ
slave
innahu
إِنَّهُۥٓ
Indeed he
awwābun
أَوَّابٌ
repeatedly turned

[We said], "And take in your hand a bunch [of grass] and strike with it and do not break your oath." Indeed, We found him patient, an excellent servant. Indeed, he was one repeatedly turning back [to Allah].

Tafsir

وَاذْكُرْ عِبٰدَنَآ اِبْرٰهِيْمَ وَاِسْحٰقَ وَيَعْقُوْبَ اُولِى الْاَيْدِيْ وَالْاَبْصَارِ  ( ص: ٤٥ )

wa-udh'kur
وَٱذْكُرْ
And remember
ʿibādanā
عِبَٰدَنَآ
Our slaves
ib'rāhīma
إِبْرَٰهِيمَ
Ibrahim
wa-is'ḥāqa
وَإِسْحَٰقَ
and Ishaq
wayaʿqūba
وَيَعْقُوبَ
and Ya'qub
ulī
أُو۟لِى
possessors
l-aydī
ٱلْأَيْدِى
(of) strength
wal-abṣāri
وَٱلْأَبْصَٰرِ
and vision

And remember Our servants, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob – those of strength and [religious] vision.

Tafsir

اِنَّآ اَخْلَصْنٰهُمْ بِخَالِصَةٍ ذِكْرَى الدَّارِۚ   ( ص: ٤٦ )

innā
إِنَّآ
Indeed We
akhlaṣnāhum
أَخْلَصْنَٰهُم
[We] chose them
bikhāliṣatin
بِخَالِصَةٍ
for an exclusive (quality);
dhik'rā
ذِكْرَى
remembrance
l-dāri
ٱلدَّارِ
(of) the Home

Indeed, We chose them for an exclusive quality: remembrance of the home [of the Hereafter].

Tafsir

وَاِنَّهُمْ عِنْدَنَا لَمِنَ الْمُصْطَفَيْنَ الْاَخْيَارِۗ  ( ص: ٤٧ )

wa-innahum
وَإِنَّهُمْ
And indeed they
ʿindanā
عِندَنَا
to Us
lamina
لَمِنَ
(are) from
l-muṣ'ṭafayna
ٱلْمُصْطَفَيْنَ
the chosen ones
l-akhyāri
ٱلْأَخْيَارِ
the best

And indeed they are, to Us, among the chosen and outstanding.

Tafsir

وَاذْكُرْ اِسْمٰعِيْلَ وَالْيَسَعَ وَذَا الْكِفْلِ ۗوَكُلٌّ مِّنَ الْاَخْيَارِۗ  ( ص: ٤٨ )

wa-udh'kur
وَٱذْكُرْ
And remember
is'māʿīla
إِسْمَٰعِيلَ
Ismail
wal-yasaʿa
وَٱلْيَسَعَ
and Al-Yasa
wadhā
وَذَا
and Dhul-kifl
l-kif'li
ٱلْكِفْلِۖ
and Dhul-kifl
wakullun
وَكُلٌّ
and all
mina
مِّنَ
(are) from
l-akhyāri
ٱلْأَخْيَارِ
the best

And remember Ishmael, Elisha and Dhul-Kifl, and all are among the outstanding.

Tafsir

هٰذَا ذِكْرٌ ۗوَاِنَّ لِلْمُتَّقِيْنَ لَحُسْنَ مَاٰبٍۙ   ( ص: ٤٩ )

hādhā
هَٰذَا
This
dhik'run
ذِكْرٌۚ
(is) a Reminder
wa-inna
وَإِنَّ
And indeed
lil'muttaqīna
لِلْمُتَّقِينَ
for the righteous
laḥus'na
لَحُسْنَ
surely is a good
maābin
مَـَٔابٍ
place of return

This is a reminder. And indeed, for the righteous is a good place of return –

Tafsir

جَنّٰتِ عَدْنٍ مُّفَتَّحَةً لَّهُمُ الْاَبْوَابُۚ  ( ص: ٥٠ )

jannāti
جَنَّٰتِ
Gardens
ʿadnin
عَدْنٍ
(of) Eternity
mufattaḥatan
مُّفَتَّحَةً
(will be) opened
lahumu
لَّهُمُ
for them
l-abwābu
ٱلْأَبْوَٰبُ
the gates

Gardens of perpetual residence, whose doors will be opened to them.
