حٰمۤ ۚ   ( الزخرف: ١ )

Ha Meem

Ha, Meem.

Tafsir

وَالْكِتٰبِ الْمُبِيْنِ ۙ   ( الزخرف: ٢ )

wal-kitābi
وَٱلْكِتَٰبِ
By the Book
l-mubīni
ٱلْمُبِينِ
the clear

By the clear Book,

Tafsir

اِنَّا جَعَلْنٰهُ قُرْاٰنًا عَرَبِيًّا لَّعَلَّكُمْ تَعْقِلُوْنَۚ   ( الزخرف: ٣ )

innā
إِنَّا
Indeed We
jaʿalnāhu
جَعَلْنَٰهُ
have made it
qur'ānan
قُرْءَٰنًا
a Quran
ʿarabiyyan
عَرَبِيًّا
(in) Arabic
laʿallakum
لَّعَلَّكُمْ
so that you may
taʿqilūna
تَعْقِلُونَ
understand

Indeed, We have made it an Arabic Quran that you might understand.

Tafsir

وَاِنَّهٗ فِيْٓ اُمِّ الْكِتٰبِ لَدَيْنَا لَعَلِيٌّ حَكِيْمٌ ۗ   ( الزخرف: ٤ )

wa-innahu
وَإِنَّهُۥ
And indeed it
فِىٓ
(is) in
ummi
أُمِّ
(the) Mother
l-kitābi
ٱلْكِتَٰبِ
(of) the Book
ladaynā
لَدَيْنَا
with Us
laʿaliyyun
لَعَلِىٌّ
surely exalted
ḥakīmun
حَكِيمٌ
full of wisdom

And indeed it is, in the Mother of the Book with Us, exalted and full of wisdom.

Tafsir

اَفَنَضْرِبُ عَنْكُمُ الذِّكْرَ صَفْحًا اَنْ كُنْتُمْ قَوْمًا مُّسْرِفِيْنَ  ( الزخرف: ٥ )

afanaḍribu
أَفَنَضْرِبُ
Then should We take away
ʿankumu
عَنكُمُ
from you
l-dhik'ra
ٱلذِّكْرَ
the Reminder
ṣafḥan
صَفْحًا
disregarding (you)
an
أَن
because
kuntum
كُنتُمْ
you
qawman
قَوْمًا
(are) a people
mus'rifīna
مُّسْرِفِينَ
transgressing?

Then should We turn the message away, disregarding you, because you are a transgressing people?

Tafsir

وَكَمْ اَرْسَلْنَا مِنْ نَّبِيٍّ فِى الْاَوَّلِيْنَ   ( الزخرف: ٦ )

wakam
وَكَمْ
And how many
arsalnā
أَرْسَلْنَا
We sent
min
مِن
of
nabiyyin
نَّبِىٍّ
a Prophet
فِى
among
l-awalīna
ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
the former (people)

And how many a prophet We sent among the former peoples,

Tafsir

وَمَا يَأْتِيْهِمْ مِّنْ نَّبِيٍّ اِلَّا كَانُوْا بِهٖ يَسْتَهْزِءُوْنَ   ( الزخرف: ٧ )

wamā
وَمَا
And not
yatīhim
يَأْتِيهِم
came to them
min
مِّن
any
nabiyyin
نَّبِىٍّ
Prophet
illā
إِلَّا
but
kānū
كَانُوا۟
they used (to)
bihi
بِهِۦ
mock at him
yastahziūna
يَسْتَهْزِءُونَ
mock at him

But there would not come to them a prophet except that they used to ridicule him.

Tafsir

فَاَهْلَكْنَٓا اَشَدَّ مِنْهُمْ بَطْشًا وَّمَضٰى مَثَلُ الْاَوَّلِيْنَ   ( الزخرف: ٨ )

fa-ahlaknā
فَأَهْلَكْنَآ
Then We destroyed
ashadda
أَشَدَّ
stronger
min'hum
مِنْهُم
than them
baṭshan
بَطْشًا
(in) power
wamaḍā
وَمَضَىٰ
and has passed
mathalu
مَثَلُ
(the) example
l-awalīna
ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
(of) the former (people)

And We destroyed greater than them in [striking] power, and the example of the former peoples has preceded.

Tafsir

وَلَىِٕنْ سَاَلْتَهُمْ مَّنْ خَلَقَ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالْاَرْضَ لَيَقُوْلُنَّ خَلَقَهُنَّ الْعَزِيْزُ الْعَلِيْمُۙ  ( الزخرف: ٩ )

wala-in
وَلَئِن
And if
sa-altahum
سَأَلْتَهُم
you ask them
man
مَّنْ
"Who
khalaqa
خَلَقَ
created
l-samāwāti
ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ
the heavens
wal-arḍa
وَٱلْأَرْضَ
and the earth?"
layaqūlunna
لَيَقُولُنَّ
They will surely say
khalaqahunna
خَلَقَهُنَّ
"Has created them
l-ʿazīzu
ٱلْعَزِيزُ
the All-Mighty
l-ʿalīmu
ٱلْعَلِيمُ
the All-Knower"

And if you should ask them, "Who has created the heavens and the earth?" they would surely say, "They were created by the Exalted in Might, the Knowing,"

Tafsir

الَّذِيْ جَعَلَ لَكُمُ الْاَرْضَ مَهْدًا وَّجَعَلَ لَكُمْ فِيْهَا سُبُلًا لَّعَلَّكُمْ تَهْتَدُوْنَ ۚ   ( الزخرف: ١٠ )

alladhī
ٱلَّذِى
The One Who
jaʿala
جَعَلَ
made
lakumu
لَكُمُ
for you
l-arḍa
ٱلْأَرْضَ
the earth
mahdan
مَهْدًا
a bed
wajaʿala
وَجَعَلَ
and made
lakum
لَكُمْ
for you
fīhā
فِيهَا
therein
subulan
سُبُلًا
roads
laʿallakum
لَّعَلَّكُمْ
so that you may
tahtadūna
تَهْتَدُونَ
be guided

[The one] who has made for you the earth a bed and made for you upon it roads that you might be guided
