رِّزْقًا لِّلْعِبَادِۙ وَاَحْيَيْنَا بِهٖ بَلْدَةً مَّيْتًاۗ كَذٰلِكَ الْخُرُوْجُ   ( ق: ١١ )

riz'qan
رِّزْقًا
A provision
lil'ʿibādi
لِّلْعِبَادِۖ
for the slaves
wa-aḥyaynā
وَأَحْيَيْنَا
and We give life
bihi
بِهِۦ
therewith
baldatan
بَلْدَةً
(to) a land
maytan
مَّيْتًاۚ
dead
kadhālika
كَذَٰلِكَ
Thus
l-khurūju
ٱلْخُرُوجُ
(will be) the coming forth

As provision for the servants, and We have given life thereby to a dead land. Thus is the emergence [i.e., resurrection].

Tafsir

كَذَّبَتْ قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمُ نُوْحٍ وَّاَصْحٰبُ الرَّسِّ وَثَمُوْدُ   ( ق: ١٢ )

نُوحٍ
(of) Nuh
wa-aṣḥābu
وَأَصْحَٰبُ
and (the) companions

ٱلرَّسِّ
(of) Ar-Raas
wathamūdu
وَثَمُودُ
and Thamud

The people of Noah denied before them, and the companions of the well and Thamud.

Tafsir

وَعَادٌ وَّفِرْعَوْنُ وَاِخْوَانُ لُوْطٍۙ  ( ق: ١٣ )

waʿādun
وَعَادٌ
And Aad
wafir'ʿawnu
وَفِرْعَوْنُ
and Firaun
wa-ikh'wānu
وَإِخْوَٰنُ
and (the) brothers
lūṭin
لُوطٍ
(of) Lut

And Aad and Pharaoh and the brothers [i.e., people] of Lot

Tafsir

وَّاَصْحٰبُ الْاَيْكَةِ وَقَوْمُ تُبَّعٍۗ كُلٌّ كَذَّبَ الرُّسُلَ فَحَقَّ وَعِيْدِ  ( ق: ١٤ )

wa-aṣḥābu
وَأَصْحَٰبُ
And (the) companions
l-aykati
ٱلْأَيْكَةِ
(of) the wood
waqawmu
وَقَوْمُ
and (the) people
tubbaʿin
تُبَّعٍۚ
(of) Tubba
kullun
كُلٌّ
All
kadhaba
كَذَّبَ
denied
l-rusula
ٱلرُّسُلَ
the Messengers
faḥaqqa
فَحَقَّ
so was fulfilled
waʿīdi
وَعِيدِ
My Threat

And the companions of the thicket and the people of Tubba. All denied the messengers, so My threat was justly fulfilled.

Tafsir

اَفَعَيِيْنَا بِالْخَلْقِ الْاَوَّلِۗ بَلْ هُمْ فِيْ لَبْسٍ مِّنْ خَلْقٍ جَدِيْدٍ ࣖ  ( ق: ١٥ )

أَفَعَيِينَا
Were We then tired
bil-khalqi
بِٱلْخَلْقِ
with the creation
l-awali
ٱلْأَوَّلِۚ
the first?
bal
بَلْ
Nay
hum
هُمْ
they
فِى
(are) in
labsin
لَبْسٍ
doubt
min
مِّنْ
about
khalqin
خَلْقٍ
a creation
jadīdin
جَدِيدٍ
new

Did We fail in the first creation? But they are in confusion over a new creation.

Tafsir

وَلَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا الْاِنْسَانَ وَنَعْلَمُ مَا تُوَسْوِسُ بِهٖ نَفْسُهٗ ۖوَنَحْنُ اَقْرَبُ اِلَيْهِ مِنْ حَبْلِ الْوَرِيْدِ   ( ق: ١٦ )

walaqad
وَلَقَدْ
And certainly
khalaqnā
خَلَقْنَا
We created
l-insāna
ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ
man
wanaʿlamu
وَنَعْلَمُ
and We know
مَا
what
tuwaswisu
تُوَسْوِسُ
whispers
bihi
بِهِۦ
to him
nafsuhu
نَفْسُهُۥۖ
his soul
wanaḥnu
وَنَحْنُ
and We
aqrabu
أَقْرَبُ
(are) nearer
ilayhi
إِلَيْهِ
to him
min
مِنْ
than
ḥabli
حَبْلِ
(his) jugular vein
l-warīdi
ٱلْوَرِيدِ
(his) jugular vein

And We have already created man and know what his soul whispers to him, and We are closer to him than [his] jugular vein.

Tafsir

اِذْ يَتَلَقَّى الْمُتَلَقِّيٰنِ عَنِ الْيَمِيْنِ وَعَنِ الشِّمَالِ قَعِيْدٌ   ( ق: ١٧ )

ٱلْيَمِينِ

ٱلشِّمَالِ
the left
qaʿīdun
قَعِيدٌ
seated

When the two receivers [i.e., recording angels] receive, seated on the right and on the left.

Tafsir

مَا يَلْفِظُ مِنْ قَوْلٍ اِلَّا لَدَيْهِ رَقِيْبٌ عَتِيْدٌ   ( ق: ١٨ )

مَّا
Not

يَلْفِظُ
he utters
min
مِن
any
qawlin
قَوْلٍ
word
illā
إِلَّا
but
ladayhi
لَدَيْهِ
with him
raqībun
رَقِيبٌ
(is) an observer
ʿatīdun
عَتِيدٌ
ready

He [i.e., man] utters no word except that with him is an observer prepared [to record].

Tafsir

وَجَاۤءَتْ سَكْرَةُ الْمَوْتِ بِالْحَقِّ ۗذٰلِكَ مَا كُنْتَ مِنْهُ تَحِيْدُ  ( ق: ١٩ )

wajāat
وَجَآءَتْ
And will come
sakratu
سَكْرَةُ
(the) stupor
l-mawti
ٱلْمَوْتِ
(of) death
bil-ḥaqi
بِٱلْحَقِّۖ
in truth
dhālika
ذَٰلِكَ
"That
مَا
(is) what
kunta
كُنتَ
you were
min'hu
مِنْهُ
[from it]
taḥīdu
تَحِيدُ
avoiding"

And the intoxication of death will bring the truth; that is what you were trying to avoid.

Tafsir

وَنُفِخَ فِى الصُّوْرِۗ ذٰلِكَ يَوْمُ الْوَعِيْدِ   ( ق: ٢٠ )

wanufikha
وَنُفِخَ
And will be blown
فِى
[in]
l-ṣūri
ٱلصُّورِۚ
the trumpet
dhālika
ذَٰلِكَ
That
yawmu
يَوْمُ
(is the) Day
l-waʿīdi
ٱلْوَعِيدِ
(of) the Warning

And the Horn will be blown. That is the Day of [carrying out] the threat.
