يَٰٓأَيُّهَا
O you
ٱلَّذِينَ
who
ءَامَنُوا۟
believe!
لَا
(Do) not
تَتَّخِذُوا۟
take
ٱلْيَهُودَ
the Jews
وَٱلنَّصَٰرَىٰٓ
and the Christians
أَوْلِيَآءَۘ
(as) allies
بَعْضُهُمْ
Some of them
أَوْلِيَآءُ
(are) allies
بَعْضٍۚ
(to) others
وَمَن
And whoever
يَتَوَلَّهُم
takes them as allies
مِّنكُمْ
among you
فَإِنَّهُۥ
then indeed, he
مِنْهُمْۗ
(is) of them
إِنَّ
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
لَا
(does) not
يَهْدِى
guide
ٱلْقَوْمَ
the people
ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ
the wrongdoing

Yaaa aiyuhal lazeena aamanoo laa tattakhizul Yahooda wan nasaaraaa awliyaaa'; ba'duhum awliyaaa'u ba'd; wa mai yatawallahum minkum fa innahoo minhum; innal laaha laa yahdil qawmaz zaalimeen

O you who have believed, do not take the Jews and the Christians as allies. They are [in fact] allies of one another. And whoever is an ally to them among you – then indeed, he is [one] of them. Indeed, Allah guides not the wrongdoing people.

Tafsir

فَتَرَى
And you see
ٱلَّذِينَ
those
فِى
in
قُلُوبِهِم
their hearts
مَّرَضٌ
(is) a disease
يُسَٰرِعُونَ
they hasten
فِيهِمْ
to them
يَقُولُونَ
saying
نَخْشَىٰٓ
"We fear
أَن
that
تُصِيبَنَا
(may) strike us
دَآئِرَةٌۚ
a misfortune"
فَعَسَى
But perhaps
ٱللَّهُ
Allah
أَن
[that]
يَأْتِىَ
will bring
بِٱلْفَتْحِ
the victory
أَوْ
or
أَمْرٍ
a decision
مِّنْ
from
عِندِهِۦ
(of) Him
فَيُصْبِحُوا۟
Then they will become
عَلَىٰ
for
مَآ
what
أَسَرُّوا۟
they had concealed
فِىٓ
within
أَنفُسِهِمْ
themselves
نَٰدِمِينَ
regretful

Fataral lazeena fee quloobihim maraduny yusaari'oona feehim yaqooloona nakhshaaa an tuseebanaa daaa'irah; fa'asallaahu ai yaatiya bilfathi aw amrim min 'indihee fa yusbihoo 'alaa maaa asarroo feee anfusihim naadimeen

So you see those in whose hearts is disease [i.e., hypocrisy] hastening into [association with] them, saying, "We are afraid a misfortune may strike us." But perhaps Allah will bring conquest or a decision from Him, and they will become, over what they have been concealing within themselves, regretful.

Tafsir

وَيَقُولُ
And will say
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
ءَامَنُوٓا۟
believe
أَهَٰٓؤُلَآءِ
"Are these
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
أَقْسَمُوا۟
swore
بِٱللَّهِ
by Allah
جَهْدَ
strongest
أَيْمَٰنِهِمْۙ
(of) their oaths
إِنَّهُمْ
indeed they
لَمَعَكُمْۚ
(were) with you?"
حَبِطَتْ
Became worthless
أَعْمَٰلُهُمْ
their deeds
فَأَصْبَحُوا۟
and they became
خَٰسِرِينَ
(the) losers

Wa yaqoolul lazeena aamanooo ahaaa'ulaaa'il lazeena aqsamoo billaahi jahda aimaanihim innahum lama'akum; habitat a'maaluhum fa asbahoo khaasireen

And those who believe will say, "Are these the ones who swore by Allah their strongest oaths that indeed they were with you?" Their deeds have become worthless, and they have become losers.

Tafsir

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا
O you
ٱلَّذِينَ
who
ءَامَنُوا۟
believe!
مَن
Whoever
يَرْتَدَّ
turns back
مِنكُمْ
among you
عَن
from
دِينِهِۦ
his religion
فَسَوْفَ
then soon
يَأْتِى
(will be) brought
ٱللَّهُ
(by) Allah
بِقَوْمٍ
a people
يُحِبُّهُمْ
whom He loves
وَيُحِبُّونَهُۥٓ
and they love Him
أَذِلَّةٍ
humble
عَلَى
towards
ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
the believers
أَعِزَّةٍ
(and) stern
عَلَى
towards
ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ
the disbelievers
يُجَٰهِدُونَ
striving
فِى
in
سَبِيلِ
(the) way
ٱللَّهِ
(of) Allah
وَلَا
and not
يَخَافُونَ
fearing
لَوْمَةَ
the blame
لَآئِمٍۚ
(of) a critic
ذَٰلِكَ
That
فَضْلُ
(is the) Grace
ٱللَّهِ
(of) Allah
يُؤْتِيهِ
He grants
مَن
whom
يَشَآءُۚ
He wills
وَٱللَّهُ
And Allah
وَٰسِعٌ
(is) All-Encompassing
عَلِيمٌ
All-Knowing

Yaa aiyuhal lazeena aamanoo mai yartadda minkum 'an deenihee fasawfa yaatil laahu biqawminy yuhibbuhum wa yuhibboonahoo azillatin 'alal mu'mineena a'izzatin 'alal kaafireena yujaahidoona fee sabeelil laahi wa laa yakhaafoona lawmata laaa'im; zaalika fadlul laahi yu'teehi mai yashaaa'; wallaahu Waasi'un 'Aleem

O you who have believed, whoever of you should revert from his religion – Allah will bring forth [in place of them] a people He will love and who will love Him [who are] humble toward the believers, strong against the disbelievers; they strive in the cause of Allah and do not fear the blame of a critic. That is the favor of Allah; He bestows it upon whom He wills. And Allah is all-Encompassing and Knowing.

Tafsir

إِنَّمَا
Only
وَلِيُّكُمُ
your ally
ٱللَّهُ
(is) Allah
وَرَسُولُهُۥ
and His Messenger
وَٱلَّذِينَ
and those who
ءَامَنُوا۟
believe
ٱلَّذِينَ
and those who
يُقِيمُونَ
establish
ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ
the prayer
وَيُؤْتُونَ
and give
ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ
zakah
وَهُمْ
and they
رَٰكِعُونَ
(are) those who bow down

Innamaa waliyyukumul laahu wa Rasooluhoo wal lazeena aamanul lazeena yuqeemoonas Salaata wa yu'toonaz Zakaata wa hum raaki'oon

Your ally is none but Allah and [therefore] His Messenger and those who have believed – those who establish prayer and give Zakah, and they bow [in worship].

Tafsir

وَمَن
And whoever
يَتَوَلَّ
takes as an ally
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
وَرَسُولَهُۥ
and His Messenger
وَٱلَّذِينَ
and those who
ءَامَنُوا۟
believe
فَإِنَّ
then indeed
حِزْبَ
(the) party
ٱللَّهِ
(of) Allah
هُمُ
they
ٱلْغَٰلِبُونَ
(are) the victorious

Wa mai yatawallal laaha wa Rasoolahoo wallazeena aamanoo fa inna hizbal laahi humul ghaaliboon

And whoever is an ally of Allah and His Messenger and those who have believed – indeed, the party of Allah – they will be the predominant.

Tafsir

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا
O you
ٱلَّذِينَ
who
ءَامَنُوا۟
believe!
لَا
(Do) not
تَتَّخِذُوا۟
take
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
ٱتَّخَذُوا۟
take
دِينَكُمْ
your religion
هُزُوًا
(in) ridicule
وَلَعِبًا
and fun
مِّنَ
from
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
أُوتُوا۟
are given
ٱلْكِتَٰبَ
the Book
مِن
from
قَبْلِكُمْ
before you
وَٱلْكُفَّارَ
and the disbelievers
أَوْلِيَآءَۚ
(as) allies
وَٱتَّقُوا۟
And fear
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
إِن
if
كُنتُم
you are
مُّؤْمِنِينَ
believers

Yaaa aiyuhal lazeena aamanoo laa tattakhizul lazeenat takhazoo deenakum huzuwanw wa la'ibam minal lazeena ootul Kitaaba min qablikum walkuffaara awliyaaa'; wattaqul laaha in kuntum muu'mineen

O you who have believed, take not those who have taken your religion in ridicule and amusement among the ones who were given the Scripture before you nor the disbelievers as allies. And fear Allah, if you should [truly] be believers.

Tafsir

وَإِذَا
And when
نَادَيْتُمْ
you make a call
إِلَى
for
ٱلصَّلَوٰةِ
the prayer
ٱتَّخَذُوهَا
they take it
هُزُوًا
(in) ridicule
وَلَعِبًاۚ
and fun
ذَٰلِكَ
That
بِأَنَّهُمْ
(is) because they
قَوْمٌ
(are) a people
لَّا
(who do) not
يَعْقِلُونَ
understand

Wa izaa naadaitum ilas Salaatit takhazoohaa huzu wan'w wa la'ibaa; zaalika biannnahum qawmul laa ya'qiloon

And when you call to prayer, they take it in ridicule and amusement. That is because they are a people who do not use reason.

Tafsir

Say, "O People of the Scripture, do you resent us except [for the fact] that we have believed in Allah and what was revealed to us and what was revealed before and because most of you are defiantly disobedient?"

Tafsir
