Surah [2] Al-Baqara : 111

وَقَالُوۡا لَنۡ يَّدۡخُلَ الۡجَـنَّةَ اِلَّا مَنۡ كَانَ هُوۡدًا اَوۡ نَصٰرٰى‌ؕ تِلۡكَ اَمَانِيُّهُمۡ‌ؕ قُلۡ هَاتُوۡا بُرۡهَانَکُمۡ اِنۡ کُنۡتُمۡ صٰدِقِيۡنَ(البقرة :111)

وَقَالُوا۟
And they said
لَن
"Never
يَدْخُلَ
will enter
ٱلْجَنَّةَ
the Paradise
إِلَّا
except
مَن
who
كَانَ
is
هُودًا
(a) Jew[s]
أَوْ
or
نَصَٰرَىٰۗ
(a) Christian[s]"
تِلْكَ
That
أَمَانِيُّهُمْۗ
(is) their wishful thinking
قُلْ
Say
هَاتُوا۟
"Bring
بُرْهَٰنَكُمْ
your proof
إِن
if
كُنتُمْ
you are
صَٰدِقِينَ
[those who are] truthful"

Waqaloo lan yadkhula aljannata illa man kana hoodan aw nasara tilka amaniyyuhum qul hatoo burhanakum in kuntum sadiqeena

Sahih International:

And they say, "None will enter Paradise except one who is a Jew or a Christian." That is [merely] their wishful thinking, Say, "Produce your proof, if you should be truthful."

Tafsir (More Translations)
Surah [2] Al-Baqara : 113

وَقَالَتِ الۡيَهُوۡدُ لَـيۡسَتِ النَّصٰرٰى عَلٰى شَىۡءٍ وَّقَالَتِ النَّصٰرٰى لَـيۡسَتِ الۡيَهُوۡدُ عَلٰى شَىۡءٍۙ وَّهُمۡ يَتۡلُوۡنَ الۡكِتٰبَؕ كَذٰلِكَ قَالَ الَّذِيۡنَ لَا يَعۡلَمُوۡنَ مِثۡلَ قَوۡلِهِمۡ‌ۚ فَاللّٰهُ يَحۡكُمُ بَيۡنَهُمۡ يَوۡمَ الۡقِيٰمَةِ فِيۡمَا كَانُوۡا فِيۡهِ يَخۡتَلِفُوۡنَ(البقرة :113)

وَقَالَتِ
And said
ٱلْيَهُودُ
the Jews
لَيْسَتِ
"Not
ٱلنَّصَٰرَىٰ
the Christians
عَلَىٰ
(are) on
شَىْءٍ
anything"
وَقَالَتِ
and said
ٱلنَّصَٰرَىٰ
the Christians
لَيْسَتِ
"Not
ٱلْيَهُودُ
the Jews
عَلَىٰ
(are) on
شَىْءٍ
anything"
وَهُمْ
although they
يَتْلُونَ
recite
ٱلْكِتَٰبَۗ
the Book
كَذَٰلِكَ
Like that
قَالَ
said
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
لَا
(do) not
يَعْلَمُونَ
know
مِثْلَ
similar
قَوْلِهِمْۚ
their saying
فَٱللَّهُ
[So] Allah
يَحْكُمُ
will judge
بَيْنَهُمْ
between them
يَوْمَ
(on the) Day
ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ
(of) Resurrection
فِيمَا
in what
كَانُوا۟
they were
فِيهِ
[in it]
يَخْتَلِفُونَ
differing

Waqalati alyahoodu laysati alnnasara 'ala shayin waqalati alnnasara laysati alyahoodu 'ala shayin wahum yatloona alkitaba kathalika qala allatheena la ya'lamoona mithla qawlihim faAllahu yahkumu baynahum yawma alqiyamati feema kanoo feehi yakhtalifoona

Sahih International:

The Jews say "The Christians have nothing [true] to stand on," and the Christians say, "The Jews have nothing to stand on," although they [both] recite the Scripture. Thus the polytheists speak the same as their words. But Allah will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection concerning that over which they used to differ.

Surah [2] Al-Baqara : 120

وَلَنۡ تَرۡضٰى عَنۡكَ الۡيَهُوۡدُ وَلَا النَّصٰرٰى حَتّٰى تَتَّبِعَ مِلَّتَهُمۡ‌ؕ قُلۡ اِنَّ هُدَى اللّٰهِ هُوَ الۡهُدٰى‌ؕ وَلَٮِٕنِ اتَّبَعۡتَ اَهۡوَآءَهُمۡ بَعۡدَ الَّذِىۡ جَآءَكَ مِنَ الۡعِلۡمِ‌ۙ مَا لَـكَ مِنَ اللّٰهِ مِنۡ وَّلِىٍّ وَّلَا نَصِيۡرٍ(البقرة :120)

وَلَن
And never
تَرْضَىٰ
will be pleased
عَنكَ
with you
ٱلْيَهُودُ
the Jews
وَلَا
and [not]
ٱلنَّصَٰرَىٰ
the Christians
حَتَّىٰ
until
تَتَّبِعَ
you follow
مِلَّتَهُمْۗ
their religion
قُلْ
Say
إِنَّ
"Indeed
هُدَى
(the) Guidance
ٱللَّهِ
(of) Allah
هُوَ
it
ٱلْهُدَىٰۗ
(is) the Guidance"
وَلَئِنِ
And if
ٱتَّبَعْتَ
you follow
أَهْوَآءَهُم
their desires
بَعْدَ
after
ٱلَّذِى
what
جَآءَكَ
has come to you
مِنَ
of
ٱلْعِلْمِۙ
the knowledge
مَا
not
لَكَ
for you
مِنَ
from
ٱللَّهِ
Allah
مِن
any
وَلِىٍّ
protector
وَلَا
and not
نَصِيرٍ
any helper

Walan tarda 'anka alyahoodu wala alnnasara hatta tattabi'a millatahum qul inna huda Allahi huwa alhuda walaini ittaba'ta ahwaahum ba'da allathee jaaka mina al'ilmi ma laka mina Allahi min waliyyin wala naseerin

Sahih International:

And never will the Jews or the Christians approve of you until you follow their religion. Say, "Indeed, the guidance of Allah is the [only] guidance." If you were to follow their desires after what has come to you of knowledge, you would have against Allah no protector or helper.

Surah [2] Al-Baqara : 135

وَقَالُوۡا کُوۡنُوۡا هُوۡدًا اَوۡ نَصٰرٰى تَهۡتَدُوۡا ‌ؕ قُلۡ بَلۡ مِلَّةَ اِبۡرٰهٖمَ حَنِيۡفًا ‌ؕ وَمَا كَانَ مِنَ الۡمُشۡرِكِيۡنَ(البقرة :135)

وَقَالُوا۟
And they said
كُونُوا۟
"Be
هُودًا
Jews
أَوْ
or
نَصَٰرَىٰ
Christians
تَهْتَدُوا۟ۗ
(then) you will be guided"
قُلْ
Say
بَلْ
"Nay
مِلَّةَ
(the) religion
إِبْرَٰهِۦمَ
(of) Ibrahim
حَنِيفًاۖ
(the) upright;
وَمَا
and not
كَانَ
he was
مِنَ
of
ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ
those who associated partners (with Allah)"

Waqaloo koonoo hoodan aw nasara tahtadoo qul bal millata ibraheema haneefan wama kana mina almushrikeena

Sahih International:

They say, "Be Jews or Christians [so] you will be guided." Say, "Rather, [we follow] the religion of Abraham, inclining toward truth, and he was not of the polytheists."

Surah [2] Al-Baqara : 136

قُوۡلُوۡٓا اٰمَنَّا بِاللّٰهِ وَمَآ اُنۡزِلَ اِلَيۡنَا وَمَآ اُنۡزِلَ اِلٰٓى اِبۡرٰهٖمَ وَاِسۡمٰعِيۡلَ وَاِسۡحٰقَ وَيَعۡقُوۡبَ وَ الۡاَسۡبَاطِ وَمَآ اُوۡتِىَ مُوۡسٰى وَعِيۡسٰى وَمَآ اُوۡتِىَ النَّبِيُّوۡنَ مِنۡ رَّبِّهِمۡ‌ۚ لَا نُفَرِّقُ بَيۡنَ اَحَدٍ مِّنۡهُمۡ وَنَحۡنُ لَهٗ مُسۡلِمُوۡنَ(البقرة :136)

قُولُوٓا۟
Say
ءَامَنَّا
"We have believed
بِٱللَّهِ
in Allah
وَمَآ
and what
أُنزِلَ
(is) revealed
إِلَيْنَا
to us
وَمَآ
and what
أُنزِلَ
was revealed
إِلَىٰٓ
to
إِبْرَٰهِۦمَ
Ibrahim
وَإِسْمَٰعِيلَ
and Ismail
وَإِسْحَٰقَ
and Ishaq
وَيَعْقُوبَ
and Yaqub
وَٱلْأَسْبَاطِ
and the descendants
وَمَآ
and what
أُوتِىَ
was given
مُوسَىٰ
(to) Musa
وَعِيسَىٰ
and Isa
وَمَآ
and what
أُوتِىَ
was given
ٱلنَّبِيُّونَ
(to) the Prophets
مِن
from
رَّبِّهِمْ
their Lord
لَا
Not
نُفَرِّقُ
we make distinction
بَيْنَ
between
أَحَدٍ
any
مِّنْهُمْ
of them
وَنَحْنُ
And we
لَهُۥ
to Him
مُسْلِمُونَ
(are) submissive"

Qooloo amanna biAllahi wama onzila ilayna wama onzila ila ibraheema waisma'eela waishaqa waya'qooba waalasbati wama ootiya moosa wa'eesa wama ootiya alnnabiyyoona min rabbihim la nufarriqu bayna ahadin minhum wanahnu lahu muslimoona

Sahih International:

Say, [O believers], "We have believed in Allah and what has been revealed to us and what has been revealed to Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac and Jacob and the Descendants and what was given to Moses and Jesus and what was given to the prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them, and we are Muslims [in submission] to Him."

Surah [2] Al-Baqara : 139

قُلۡ اَ تُحَآجُّوۡنَـنَا فِى اللّٰهِ وَهُوَ رَبُّنَا وَرَبُّکُمۡۚ وَلَنَآ اَعۡمَالُـنَا وَلَـكُمۡ اَعۡمَالُكُمۡۚ وَنَحۡنُ لَهٗ مُخۡلِصُوۡنَۙ (البقرة :139)

قُلْ
Say
أَتُحَآجُّونَنَا
"Do you argue with us
فِى
about
ٱللَّهِ
Allah
وَهُوَ
while He
رَبُّنَا
(is) our Lord
وَرَبُّكُمْ
and your Lord?
وَلَنَآ
And for us
أَعْمَٰلُنَا
(are) our deeds
وَلَكُمْ
and for you
أَعْمَٰلُكُمْ
(are) your deeds
وَنَحْنُ
and we
لَهُۥ
to Him
مُخْلِصُونَ
(are) sincere

Qul atuhajjoonana fee Allahi wahuwa rabbuna warabbukum walana a'maluna walakum a'malukum wanahnu lahu mukhlisoona

Sahih International:

Say, [O Muhammad], "Do you argue with us about Allah while He is our Lord and your Lord? For us are our deeds, and for you are your deeds. And we are sincere [in deed and intention] to Him."

Surah [2] Al-Baqara : 140

اَمۡ تَقُوۡلُوۡنَ اِنَّ اِبۡرٰهٖمَ وَاِسۡمٰعِيۡلَ وَاِسۡحٰقَ وَيَعۡقُوۡبَ وَالۡاَسۡبَاطَ كَانُوۡا هُوۡدًا اَوۡ نَصٰرٰى‌ؕ قُلۡ ءَاَنۡـتُمۡ اَعۡلَمُ اَمِ اللّٰهُ‌ ؕ وَمَنۡ اَظۡلَمُ مِمَّنۡ كَتَمَ شَهَادَةً عِنۡدَهٗ مِنَ اللّٰهِ‌ؕ وَمَا اللّٰهُ بِغَافِلٍ عَمَّا تَعۡمَلُوۡنَ(البقرة :140)

أَمْ
Or
تَقُولُونَ
(do) you say
إِنَّ
that
إِبْرَٰهِۦمَ
Ibrahim
وَإِسْمَٰعِيلَ
and Ismail
وَإِسْحَٰقَ
and Ishaq
وَيَعْقُوبَ
and Yaqub
وَٱلْأَسْبَاطَ
and the descendants
كَانُوا۟
were
هُودًا
Jews
أَوْ
or
نَصَٰرَىٰۗ
Christians?"
قُلْ
Say
ءَأَنتُمْ
"Are you
أَعْلَمُ
better knowing
أَمِ
or
ٱللَّهُۗ
(is) Allah?"
وَمَنْ
And who
أَظْلَمُ
(is) more unjust
مِمَّن
than (the one) who
كَتَمَ
concealed
شَهَٰدَةً
a testimony
عِندَهُۥ
(that) he has
مِنَ
from
ٱللَّهِۗ
Allah?
وَمَا
And not
ٱللَّهُ
(is) Allah
بِغَٰفِلٍ
unaware
عَمَّا
of what
تَعْمَلُونَ
you do

Am taqooloona inna ibraheema waisma'eela waishaqa waya'qooba waalasbata kanoo hoodan aw nasara qul aantum a'lamu ami Allahu waman athlamu mimman katama shahadatan 'indahu mina Allahi wama Allahu bighafilin 'amma ta'maloona

Sahih International:

Or do you say that Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac and Jacob and the Descendants were Jews or Christians? Say, "Are you more knowing or is Allah ?" And who is more unjust than one who conceals a testimony he has from Allah ? And Allah is not unaware of what you do.

Tafsir (More Translations)
Surah [2] Al-Baqara : 43

وَاَقِيۡمُوا الصَّلٰوةَ وَاٰتُوا الزَّكٰوةَ وَارۡكَعُوۡا مَعَ الرّٰكِعِيۡنَ(البقرة :43)

وَأَقِيمُوا۟
And establish
ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ
the prayer
وَءَاتُوا۟
and give
ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ
zakah
وَٱرْكَعُوا۟
and bow down
مَعَ
with
ٱلرَّٰكِعِينَ
those who bow down

Waaqeemoo alssalata waatoo alzzakata wairka'oo ma'a alrraki'eena

Sahih International:

And establish prayer and give zakah and bow with those who bow [in worship and obedience].

Surah [2] Al-Baqara : 61

وَاِذۡ قُلۡتُمۡ يٰمُوۡسٰى لَنۡ نَّصۡبِرَ عَلٰى طَعَامٍ وَّاحِدٍ فَادۡعُ لَنَا رَبَّكَ يُخۡرِجۡ لَنَا مِمَّا تُنۡۢبِتُ الۡاَرۡضُ مِنۡۢ بَقۡلِهَا وَقِثَّـآٮِٕهَا وَفُوۡمِهَا وَعَدَسِهَا وَ بَصَلِهَا‌ؕ قَالَ اَتَسۡتَبۡدِلُوۡنَ الَّذِىۡ هُوَ اَدۡنٰى بِالَّذِىۡ هُوَ خَيۡرٌ‌ؕ اِهۡبِطُوۡا مِصۡرًا فَاِنَّ لَـکُمۡ مَّا سَاَلۡتُمۡ‌ؕ وَضُرِبَتۡ عَلَيۡهِمُ الذِّلَّةُ وَالۡمَسۡکَنَةُ وَبَآءُوۡ بِغَضَبٍ مِّنَ اللّٰهِ‌ؕ ذٰلِكَ بِاَنَّهُمۡ كَانُوۡا يَكۡفُرُوۡنَ بِاٰيٰتِ اللّٰهِ وَيَقۡتُلُوۡنَ النَّبِيّٖنَ بِغَيۡرِ الۡحَـقِّ‌ؕ ذٰلِكَ بِمَا عَصَوا وَّڪَانُوۡا يَعۡتَدُوۡنَ(البقرة :61)

وَإِذْ
And when
قُلْتُمْ
you said
يَٰمُوسَىٰ
"O Musa!
لَن
Never (will)
نَّصْبِرَ
we endure
عَلَىٰ
[on]
طَعَامٍ
food
وَٰحِدٍ
(of) one (kind)
فَٱدْعُ
so pray
لَنَا
for us
رَبَّكَ
(to) your Lord
يُخْرِجْ
to bring forth
لَنَا
for us
مِمَّا
out of what
تُنۢبِتُ
grows
ٱلْأَرْضُ
the earth
مِنۢ
of
بَقْلِهَا
its herbs
وَقِثَّآئِهَا
[and] its cucumbers
وَفُومِهَا
[and] its garlic
وَعَدَسِهَا
[and] its lentils
وَبَصَلِهَاۖ
and its onions"
قَالَ
He said
أَتَسْتَبْدِلُونَ
"Would you exchange
ٱلَّذِى
that which
هُوَ
[it]
أَدْنَىٰ
(is) inferior
بِٱلَّذِى
for that which
هُوَ
[it]
خَيْرٌۚ
(is) better?
ٱهْبِطُوا۟
Go down
مِصْرًا
(to) a city
فَإِنَّ
so indeed
لَكُم
for you
مَّا
(is) what
سَأَلْتُمْۗ
you have asked (for)"
وَضُرِبَتْ
And were struck
عَلَيْهِمُ
on them
ٱلذِّلَّةُ
the humiliation
وَٱلْمَسْكَنَةُ
and the misery
وَبَآءُو
and they drew on themselves
بِغَضَبٍ
wrath
مِّنَ
of
ٱللَّهِۗ
Allah
ذَٰلِكَ
That (was)
بِأَنَّهُمْ
because they
كَانُوا۟
used to
يَكْفُرُونَ
disbelieve
بِـَٔايَٰتِ
in (the) Signs
ٱللَّهِ
(of) Allah
وَيَقْتُلُونَ
and kill
ٱلنَّبِيِّۦنَ
the Prophets
بِغَيْرِ
without (any)
ٱلْحَقِّۗ
[the] right
ذَٰلِكَ
That
بِمَا
(was) because
عَصَوا۟
they disobeyed
وَّكَانُوا۟
and they were
يَعْتَدُونَ
transgressing

Waith qultum ya moosa lan nasbira 'ala ta'amin wahidin faod'u lana rabbaka yukhrij lana mimma tunbitu alardu min baqliha waqiththaiha wafoomiha wa'adasiha wabasaliha qala atastabdiloona allathee huwa adna biallathee huwa khayrun ihbitoo misran fainna lakum ma saaltum waduribat 'alayhimu alththillatu waalmaskanatu wabaoo bighadabin mina Allahi thalika biannahum kanoo yakfuroona biayati Allahi wayaqtuloona alnnabiyyeena bighayri alhaqqi thalika bima 'asaw wakanoo ya'tadoona

Sahih International:

And [recall] when you said, "O Moses, we can never endure one [kind of] food. So call upon your Lord to bring forth for us from the earth its green herbs and its cucumbers and its garlic and its lentils and its onions." [Moses] said, "Would you exchange what is better for what is less? Go into [any] settlement and indeed, you will have what you have asked." And they were covered with humiliation and poverty and returned with anger from Allah [upon them]. That was because they [repeatedly] disbelieved in the signs of Allah and killed the prophets without right. That was because they disobeyed and were [habitually] transgressing.

Tafsir (More Translations)
Surah [2] Al-Baqara : 62

اِنَّ الَّذِيۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡا وَالَّذِيۡنَ هَادُوۡا وَالنَّصٰرٰى وَالصّٰبِـِٕـيۡنَ مَنۡ اٰمَنَ بِاللّٰهِ وَالۡيَوۡمِ الۡاٰخِرِ وَعَمِلَ صَالِحًـا فَلَهُمۡ اَجۡرُهُمۡ عِنۡدَ رَبِّهِمۡۚ وَلَا خَوۡفٌ عَلَيۡهِمۡ وَلَا هُمۡ يَحۡزَنُوۡنَ(البقرة :62)

إِنَّ
Indeed
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
ءَامَنُوا۟
believed
وَٱلَّذِينَ
and those who
هَادُوا۟
became Jews
وَٱلنَّصَٰرَىٰ
and the Christians
وَٱلصَّٰبِـِٔينَ
and the Sabians -
مَنْ
who
ءَامَنَ
believed
بِٱللَّهِ
in Allah
وَٱلْيَوْمِ
and the Day
ٱلْءَاخِرِ
[the] Last
وَعَمِلَ
and did
صَٰلِحًا
righteous deeds
فَلَهُمْ
so for them
أَجْرُهُمْ
(is) their reward
عِندَ
with
رَبِّهِمْ
their Lord
وَلَا
and no
خَوْفٌ
fear
عَلَيْهِمْ
on them
وَلَا
and not
هُمْ
they
يَحْزَنُونَ
will grieve

Inna allatheena amanoo waallatheena hadoo waalnnasara waalssabieena man amana biAllahi waalyawmi alakhiri wa'amila salihan falahum ajruhum 'inda rabbihim wala khawfun 'alayhim wala hum yahzanoona

Sahih International:

Indeed, those who believed and those who were Jews or Christians or Sabeans [before Prophet Muhammad] - those [among them] who believed in Allah and the Last Day and did righteousness - will have their reward with their Lord, and no fear will there be concerning them, nor will they grieve.
