bismillah

ٱقْتَرَبَتِ
Has come near
ٱلسَّاعَةُ
the Hour
وَٱنشَقَّ
and has split
ٱلْقَمَرُ
the moon

Iqtarabatis Saa'atu wsan shaqqal qamar

The Hour has come near, and the moon has split [in two].

Tafsir

وَإِن
And if
يَرَوْا۟
they see
ءَايَةً
a Sign
يُعْرِضُوا۟
they turn away
وَيَقُولُوا۟
and say
سِحْرٌ
"Magic
مُّسْتَمِرٌّ
continuing"

Wa iny yaraw aayatany yu'ridoo wa yaqooloo sihrum mustamirr

And if they see a sign [i.e., miracle], they turn away and say, "Passing magic."

Tafsir

وَكَذَّبُوا۟
And they denied
وَٱتَّبَعُوٓا۟
and followed
أَهْوَآءَهُمْۚ
their desires
وَكُلُّ
but (for) every
أَمْرٍ
matter
مُّسْتَقِرٌّ
(will be a) settlement

Wa kazzaboo wattaba'ooo ahwaaa'ahum; wa kullu amrim mustaqirr

And they denied and followed their inclinations. But for every matter is a [time of] settlement.

Tafsir

وَلَقَدْ
And certainly
جَآءَهُم
has come to them
مِّنَ
of
ٱلْأَنۢبَآءِ
the information
مَا
wherein
فِيهِ
wherein
مُزْدَجَرٌ
(is) deterrence

Wa laqad jaaa'ahum minal ambaaa'i maa feehi muzdajar

And there has already come to them of information that in which there is deterrence.

Tafsir

حِكْمَةٌۢ
Wisdom
بَٰلِغَةٌۖ
perfect
فَمَا
but not
تُغْنِ
will avail
ٱلنُّذُرُ
the warnings

Hikmatum baalighatun famaa tughnin nuzur

Extensive wisdom – but warning does not avail [them].

Tafsir

فَتَوَلَّ
So turn away
عَنْهُمْۘ
from them
يَوْمَ
(The) Day
يَدْعُ
will call
ٱلدَّاعِ
the caller
إِلَىٰ
to
شَىْءٍ
a thing
نُّكُرٍ
terrible

Fatawalla 'anhum; yawma yad'ud daa'i ilaa shai 'in nukur

So leave them, [O Muhammad]. The Day the Caller calls to something forbidding,

Tafsir

خُشَّعًا
(Will be) humbled
أَبْصَٰرُهُمْ
their eyes
يَخْرُجُونَ
they will come forth
مِنَ
from
ٱلْأَجْدَاثِ
the graves
كَأَنَّهُمْ
as if they (were)
جَرَادٌ
locusts
مُّنتَشِرٌ
spreading

khushsha'an absaaruhum yakrujoona minal ajdaasi ka annahum jaraadum muntashir

Their eyes humbled, they will emerge from the graves as if they were locusts spreading,

Tafsir

مُّهْطِعِينَ
Racing ahead
إِلَى
toward
ٱلدَّاعِۖ
the caller
يَقُولُ
Will say
ٱلْكَٰفِرُونَ
the disbelievers
هَٰذَا
"This
يَوْمٌ
(is) a Day
عَسِرٌ
difficult"

Muhti'eena ilad daa'i yaqoolul kafiroona haazaa yawmun 'asir

Racing ahead toward the Caller. The disbelievers will say, "This is a difficult Day."

Tafsir

كَذَّبَتْ
Denied
قَبْلَهُمْ
before them
قَوْمُ
(the) people
نُوحٍ
(of) Nuh
فَكَذَّبُوا۟
and they denied
عَبْدَنَا
Our slave
وَقَالُوا۟
and said
مَجْنُونٌ
"A madman"
وَٱزْدُجِرَ
and he was repelled

Kazzabat qablahum qawmu Noohin fakazzaboo 'abdanaa wa qaaloo majnoo nunw wazdujir

The people of Noah denied before them, and they denied Our servant and said, "A madman," and he was repelled.

Tafsir

فَدَعَا
So he called
رَبَّهُۥٓ
his Lord
أَنِّى
"I am
مَغْلُوبٌ
one overpowered
فَٱنتَصِرْ
so help"

Fada'aa Rabbahooo annee maghloobun fantasir

So he invoked his Lord, "Indeed, I am overpowered, so help."
